I definitely would’ve liked it more if they didn’t have a romance and the first loves were actually the romance. It would’ve been the first time main leads weren’t actually a couple and were just really good friends. Like I loved the first load of episodes with their bantering. For me I like them more like that than together. Plus I just like seoyul a lot more.

I think people who rag on the show are impatient. Because most of part one deals with info and build up for part 2. I think if people were bit more patient, they would seem to like or enjoy it better. But who knows, to each their own. Now for my personal opinion, i like AOS. The only part that i wish there was less of was the romance. I think it would’ve been better in my opinion if they stayed more focused on the missions and action and not pushed the romance as much as they did. But personally, i’m not the type who gets gushy over romance. So that’s probably why less romance in dramas are more appealing to me. The only time romance is fine is if the show itself is supposed to be centered around it like actual romance dramas.

That’s the thing though, it’s not a typical historical kdrama. Everything in it is made up with a historical touch to it. Notice how even their hairstyles and jewelry they were is not of what you see in traditional period piece kdramas? Like AOS got backlash from netziens over it being historically inaccurate as far as what was traditional during history in south korea. But i think the creators for the show said that was the point. It’s not supposed to be like the typical historical kdrama. I like AOS, but the romance part of it was pushed a bit too much. I like the action and the focus of the missions more. If it had less romance, in my opinion it would’ve been better.

I think the reason why the crown prince was looking at mu-deok before the duel is because he told her before to make sure that jang uk doesn't attend the duel so that he (crown prince) won't have to kill jang uk, as he doesn't want to. so he was questioning why she ignored his advice and why jang uk still came because he thought that jang uk wouldn't survive. while the crown prince is gaining feelings for mu-deok, i don't think he was jealous in that moment.

I started watching this show because you guys started it. I became completely addicted to it at some point and binged the entire thing in a week. So now this is my rewatch with you guys to help with the addiction withdrawals I'm suffering from lol. So so glad you will now be posting 2 episodes a week. I think it's an amazing show but unfortunately not perfect as it suffers the typical Korean soap cliches at times. Also wanted to point out that the actor playing the current king also played in The Glory, he was the murdered hospital director (sweet homes dad) and the girl playing here as winter's mother has played young SaRa in The Glory as well.
