In the beginning of the hotel scene, Denji asked if the gun devil is inside the hotel, but Aki told him the bullet on the chain that they had would've been more attracted to the building. Which means that there is a devil inside the motel which consumed some of the gun devil's flesh, and not the actual gun devil.
