Mystical Flower in Autumn Woods - Process

Here's the process of my latest painting! And oh boy, this painting went through so many stages. I wanted to try out a new method of painting process by doing rough passes of the values and painting over it.
It started out great at first, but I think I struggled a lot with figuring out the storytelling for this piece and how to visually show it. I also struggled with the palette since bright reds are something I'm not used to working with! I also haven't determined how I want to do the lighting so tackling this painting with all those combined was very challenging ๐ซฃI think I will try this method for smaller paintings instead of immediately tackling a large illustration with it ๐คก I was definitely feeling ambitious and it got the best of me ๐
I am going to try working with more reds in the future since I do have some ideas with colour palettes that feature dark rich reds! Especially with fall coming up! ๐๐ซถ
