It Is Written

Howdy folks,

Just thought I'd quickly check in and thank you, sort-of-personally, for your on-going support. I have been working feverishly on getting new episodes ready to go, and done a fair amount of tweaking to what I've already written.

The plan, assuming all goes well, is to record the first of two, yes TWO, Chindit episodes on Friday (if my voice holds out, I might just do both) and then start to edit them.

Meanwhile I have written the first phase of the Imphal battles - the period from March 9th - April 5th 1944, focusing on the magnificent 17th Div under Punch Cowan, and their withdrawal up the Tiddim / Tamu Road to Imphal, during which they absolutley kerb stomped Yanagida's forces, the outline of the Japanese Plan ("Plan") and some stuff about the opening stages of the Kohima battle. For those not aware, this is by far from the only thing going on at the time, and really it's the middle of the battle, not the start because, well, whiskey happened and I was reading that bit and just went "fuck yeah" so that's where I began.

I now need to go back, write up Arakan II Messervey Bugaloo in which 5th and 7th Divisions managed to fist break the Razabul Fortress and then fight the Battle of the Admin box which happened....errr....in February. So, yeah, the timeline in my writing is all over the place BUT I have a handle on it all and know how to stitch it all together in some digestible format. I suspect this will be three, maybe even four, episodes on 1944 and then..well...we'll see, I quite want to do the whole thing but we might knock it on the head there so people don't lose interest.

Meanwhile I still have plans to finish the Bomber War series, and do a set of stand alone episodes on interesting topics, so if you want to see something specifically let me know (so far the list is TSR-2, Mosquito and Lancaster because fuck it why not, but also Guy Fawkes, the reformation in England, The Hundred Days at the end of WW1 and lots of others, but keep them coming and I'll try to put them in an order)

Peace, love and jelly babies

Tuchman's book was recommended to JFK by British PM Harold Macmillan shortly after (I think) the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962 - he read it in short order and gave each member of his Crisis Cabinet.......
