Here is the backstage story of my illustration for this week's ONE HOUR DRAWING CHALLENGE.
In OHDC, I always would like to experiment “composition” because it's challenging. This time, I wanted to try something “action”.
Though it's ONE HOUR CHALLENGE, I do research beforehand about the subjects. This time, “butler/bloodshed”. Then I googled , “butler”, “butler uniform”, “butler at work” and, of course, “sexy butler”. This research is to get an inspiration for my drawing.
Interestingly I found so many images of Japanese manga, “Black Butler”. OMG, to the end, my mind was filled up with the images of “Black Butler”. Good grief.
OK, I decided to draw something like that; a bloodshed battling butler. AND I got a rough idea for the composition.
Well, let's commence. The beginning of one hour.
Firstly, I used DAZStudio 3DCG pose figure to get the glimpse of the composition. I wanted the butler in my drawing to hold a tray so that I got 3D models of a tray and a bottle of whiskys as reference.

The rough draft continues.
Referring the 3DCG image, I quickly drew the image. Keeping the 3DCG image just as a reference is a key. I won't recommend to rely it on too much. Keep it just as a reference.

Then added bloodshed. I used ready-made brushes to use the limited time efficiently.

Since I almost finished the composition, I added some texts. I really like the combination of illustration and text. I guess that's why I like manga very much.

This is the end of first rough draft. It was around 30 minutes.
As I mentioned, I do the research beforehand. Otherwise it must be really hard to finish drawing just in one hour.
Next, finishing the work!
The backstage story continues!
