The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - Movie Reaction

Halloween 2018 is more up to your standards, should give it a watch!

Jordyn Williams

FEAR STREET TRILOGY BACK TO BACK WOULD BE INCREDIBLE

reub

I also think Halloween 2018 would be great!

Aidan Sanderson

Please Hide and Seek it’s so good!

Cat Rizzo

you MUST do halloween (2018) its so good!!

ReeceW 206

Love that you knocked this one off the list. A Must watch for any horror fan. You nailed it at the end with the raw uneasiness. The dinner scene especially is like the epitome of the horror genre pre-slasher era. A few well-known tropes still used today sprinkled in, but mostly just realistic raw uneasy feelings for extended periods. With a story, though outlandish could very well happen irl.

Switch

Ooooo. This is my favourite horror 🖤

Stolen Lives

Personally, I like the original much better than the remake or any of the ones that came after. The remake is just...it's not my vibe to be honest. I know a lot of people are fans of that but ehh...I'm more of a fan of horror movies like this, that don't SHOW everything on screen, and it still is somehow terrifying.

Cassandra Davenport

The dumb choices made in this movie. Omg. Lol.

La Toya Sheri

I wanna say Tobe captured lightning in a bottle with this film but that's not it. He captured something but not that. Hooper tells a brutally disturbing story but like Psycho it's done mostly thru innuendo. No sexual assault or nudity and practically no blood but because of the no frills straight forward movie making, here we are still talking about a film from the Nixon administration. Glad you liked one of my favorite films. Regarding sequels, for me only TCM2 (1986) is worth watching since none (including TCM2) have any chance to recreate the original. However I'd really like to see your take on TCM2 (also by Tobe Hooper) since it goes in the only direction a sequel COULD go and that's horror/comedy. Something you might have missed, the family name is Sawyer. (note the spelling) "The secret is the meat. Never skimp on the meat" -- Drayton

Natas Krad

For me, this movie is such a classic. The extreme morbid setting and quite experimental editing and camera angles really make this a jarring and incredible film.

Ethan Daniel Parker Court

The 2003 remake is probably one of the best horror remakes. You should def check it out next

Adam

I don't want to make a sweeping statement about originals vs. remakes, so much of it is very subjective to the times and the styles of movies being made and quality that people are used to. I am more into the modern remakes simply because I resonate more with the style of filmmaking that they use. I get taken out a bit by the different approach to acting, camera angles, soundscapes etc. Not because its bad, just different and not my preference.

Theylo Blue

Texas Chainsaw Masscre 2003 is a remake of sorts and is very creepy, disturbing, and wild. Love your reaction!

Avi Gossai

For classics you gotta get Rosemarys Baby and and nightmare on elm street down!

Tswizz

Not you settling in for a cozy comfy time! Leatherface said NOPE 💀

Ellen

You need to do House of 1000 Corpses next 🧜‍♂️

Hayley Irving

Omg if you get through this franchise you have to watch the Netflix one, not because it’s good but because it’s just ridiculous lol.

Char

Finally I can watch this movie. Couldn't have done it alone. Thank you.

VR Explorer

I hope you check more of the Texas Chainsaw films out in time! I surprisingly enjoyed the 2013 reboot more than a lot of modern reboots tbh

Bubba!

Picking up a hitchhiker would be very situational. I had someone just hop in my car once. I guess they thought I had signaled them over but really I had only just spotted the person moments beforehand. Luckily, it was fine, they just needed a ride but it is not something I have done since. To add to that dinner scene, I believe it took a little over a day to film meanwhile with rotting animal carcasses strewn about.

JeremyOnDeck

Now I can say I watched this classic. I think the rawness is what this movie has going for it. Also, if the goal was to unsettle, disturb, horrify the audience, I think it did it well (I can't imagine what people thought back when it first came out). Having said all that, I came close to skipping forward a few times toward the end and I don't care to ever watch it again. I can respect what it did in terms of the horror genre but it just really isn't for me. Shout out to Caitlin for featuring this one and staying so engaged throughout the run time!

Niqua

To answer your question about the hitchhiker: it depends, honestly. On a lotta things. Like if it's just me in the car, the time of day, if I'm out in a the sticks, how shady the guy looks.... And to answer two other questions you had during the movie, at the risk of making you feel even more uncomfortable: The graveyard part at the beginning: Remember the scene where Pam was freaking out at the bone furniture? That's what the graveyard scene at the beginning was for, i think: they dig up the bodies to make furniture out of. The reason that Leatherface shows up with makeup during the dinner part, that's the way he expresses himself according to the director: so he wears the outfit you see him in when he's chasing people, and the lady face with makeup when he's with his family and having dinner

Mr_Bubbles_96

This is one of the first real slashers and Sally was the first major example of "the final girl." That horror trope, as well as, many others might not exist without this movie.

Evan

Oh this is going to be gooood! Caitlin as soon as it’s out on VOD we NEEEED your reaction to THE SUBSTANCE! It’s going to blow your mind!

Captain Astro

Girllll you gotta do Black Christmas (1974)!!! It's one of the few horror movies that has genuinely unsettled me...and it's shot so well it's beautifulllll

emma🦢

Kind of an unpopular take but I honestly prefer the 2003 version, I think a lot of the negative reviews it received were because the original was so genre defining and "nobody asked for it". The vibes of this movie are just odd imo and the remake was grimy and brutal in a way that really did leatherface justice. As someone who also prefers modern horror you should definitely consider checking it out, also I want zero smoke and understand fully where people who prefer the original are coming from 😂

Carter Paul

Oh my god! Key lessons, Dont Run TOWARD a weird sound! Dont' go into a strangers house, and Shouting Jerry with Caitlin is fun! and that just scar got me so good i think i pulled something!

Lizz Locke

Highly suggest A Nightmare on Elm Street as your classic film pick for next year, it’s a great film and also made by Wes Craven

Eisa Hayat

This is very true crime based cause it was based on Ed Gein. Fun fact the house from this is now a full restaurant that you can eat at, and they'll even do full events and screenings. Counting all the remakes there are 9 total films.

Randy Villarreal

Congrats horror queen, you have just met Leatherface!

Jim Lewis

“Why didn’t we invite grandma to dinner?” Grandma is the lamp above the table 😬

Henri J. Mertens

I know this is a classic and a staple of the horror film genre and I've tried a few times to watch this film but couldn't make it past the intro with those annoying characters. Well, if Caitlin can do it, than so can I. Let's do this!!

Niqua

Pretty much a perfect film. Sheer terror all the way through. They tried to censor it in the UK but they realised that even if they took out all the violence, the movie is still horrifying because everything is just gross and oppressive and uncomfortable.

David S. Grop

Fun reaction! The realization at the end that you've just seen Leatherface was priceless. The late great Gunnar Hansen's iconic portrayal of one of horror's greatest legends. You'll recall in the first Scream, when Billy arrives at Stu's party, Randy asks "What's Leatherface doing here?" 😂

Iggy 5150

Hell yes. This will be a good reaction.

Bryan Erickson

I really appreciate that you enjoyed this and appreciated the rawness of this movie. That’s truly what makes it a classic. There are MANY sequels to this, and several different timelines. As good as this movie is, most of its sequels are pretty meh, if not outright terrible. I personally advise you to one-and-done this one. Have you ever seen The Others? Very early 2000’s ghost story with Nicole Kidman. It’s a more quiet movie, but is pretty amazing. It doesn’t get talked about much which I never really understand.

Donttouchmymilk

can't wait to see you react to terrifer 3

The Gamer's Club

You HAVE to watch The Substance when it comes to streaming!! 😍

Michael Przybyl

to answer your question. No i will not pick up a hitchhiker. My anxiety is too bad for that. I will also lock the door if I see anyone outside near my car.

Aggrothehorse

This movie made me become a vegetarian for a couple months lol

Henri J. Mertens

hopefully you will react to The Substance and Terrifier 3 💚❤️

Patryk Walenczak

REACT TO TERRIFIER 3

Tyler Faruzzi

Oh boy, you made it to one of my favorite films. This is true terror right here. The lack of music and setting just makes this movie so eerie. Everything is just so bleak. Sally is one of my favorite final girls. She endured so much and honestly if I was in her shoes, I don't think I would've lasted nowhere near as long as she did. She acted very quick with her decision making.

Tionne

You have come so far from not being able to stand gore hahaha, excited to watch!!! 🫶🏻

Case Heard 🫶🏻

😱😱😊

Jim Lewis

Ooooh boy!! Can't wait to watch!!! Caitlin, I'm hoping one day you'll do a Halloween II (1981) reaction video. It's my favorite Halloween sequel.

Kevin Cain

I’m so excited for this!!!!!!

Chris Ryan

oh yes!! a classic❤️ unfortunately the rest of the franchise is weak af, but this one is amazing

Patryk Walenczak

The GOAT!!!! Let’s go!!!!!
