Since the first time I watched this movie reaction on YouTube… to now as a Patreon subscriber. This has definitely got to be my favorite ever "Found Footage" movie. It's so mysterious in its paranormal aspect and that's personally why I love it.

2024-06-23 18:51:00 +0000 UTCI'm very late to this party and have never heard of this film before today, but I literally grew up near Ararat (just outside of a town called Stawell which is the name on the movers truck near the end of the movie) and oh my goodness my heart was full watching this, so thanks for this discovery I guess haha

But I think all the greatest horror directors active at the moment are outspoken fans of it, even when they can't remember the name. Mike Flanagan, Neil Marshall, Jordan Peele, Rob Savage, and Issa López have all named it as a movie that really scared them. The Skinnamarink guys too. And I'm pretty sure Ari Aster is a closet fan, though I haven't heard him talk about it.

2024-03-05 01:36:36 +0000 UTCThis is my first negative review on here. This movie was trash. Not only was it boring, it also had bad acting and the old style "ghost" videos. (Videos of everything being clear except the ghost. As well as open wide pictures to add the ghost into it.) The music and sound effects really killed this movie, brining it to a 0.5 out of 10. Caitlin, you over reacted and faked this up so horribly. You tried to make this a suspenseful and scary horror reaction, when it's just a bad movie. This was beyond boring and made no sense. Why would a brother fake his dead sisters images to show his parents? Who buried something SHALLOW on the beach? And for 2 years the tide never washed it up? Kids never dug it up? The neighbor was never investigated? This was a horrible movie. One of the worst you've watched. I put this movie just below cannibal Holocaust.

I remember watching it for the first time and liking it and then those last few minutes kick in with the reveals and it genuinely creeped me out. And so many people miss out on the very last image. In case you didn't see it, let all the credits roll all the way until the last one, you'll see the final imagery, so creepy, and it too will definitely have you asking once again " what does it mean?" Such a well done movie! Please keep those found footage and other horror film reactions coming!

I remember watching this years ago, nice to see it again now to be able to appreciate the nuances throughout. Recs-wise, Emily Rose, I remember more as a crime drama lol. The Last Exorcism, I'd suggest/have hoped for. One of the better films of the glorious post Para. Activ. wave of found footage, imo. Love that you're also a FF fiend needing the occasional fix. & the pink haha.

I held on to these borrowed opinions for a while, until you posted this and I got a chance to watch this film. I can't tell you how awesome it feels to be wrong. This is such an effective horror film, and so much more than just that. Lake Mungo reminds me of Kairo (2001, Japanese original) for their unconventionality. I think you'll definitely enjoy this one.

2023-12-20 14:41:30 +0000 UTCMay I suggest something, since you love this kind of stuff so much, I don't know if you ever heard of a YT channel called "Nuke's Top 5" He posts real "Found footage" of paranormal that people have encountered all over the world. Every single video is scary as hell, I recommend checking it out and maybe if you like it, react to some of his videos. I'd love to see it.

2023-12-20 06:38:34 +0000 UTCthe thing i love about this movie is that.... it's a really sad movie yeah it's scary but when you realise what this movie is really about, it's just very sad. sometimes death just haunts us, and in her case, it was her own death. she knew her family couldnt do anything, she was going to die and she could not be protected. in the end, she would become a ghost, all alone, in her house.

Interested to see how you like it. Would totally support you watching Exorcism of Emily Rose. It’s not what you expect, and will ring a little familiar (but in a good way) now that you’ve seen the third Conjuring movie.

2023-12-19 20:30:00 +0000 UTCIMO The photos we see throughout the film that are revealed to be “fake” also relates to Alice feeling alone and unnoticed, since the family (and the viewers) were so busy seeing the brother’s work, we all completely missed that her ghost was actually in those photos the whole time, alone and unnoticed until the end.

In terms of future found footage reactions, I'd recommend the V/H/S franchise and The Sacrament which is loosely inspired by true events
