Orphan - Movie Reaction

oh boyyyyyy was this the most frustrating experience of my life :)

Orphan - Movie Reaction

Comments

Although I loved the twist at the end of the movie. The father completely ruined this entire movie for me! How goddamn stupid are you? Plus the fact that he literally doesn’t let anyone say anything negative about Esther not even the nun is just beyond stupid and infuriating. Especially after the treehouse and the hospital how could you not think anything was wrong with her? I was convinced he wasn’t going to think anything was wrong when Esther put the makeup and dress on because he was just that stupid

Elliot Voelker

Okay, so I’m extremely late to watching the reaction on here. BUT I needed to comment on this first part in particular. I have watched this movie multiple times over the years. I can’t even count how many BUT one thing I NEVER noticed until now is when Kate (I’m sorry I can’t see her as anyone else but Lorraine Warren still) gets the call about sister Abigail going missing when she’s standing in front of the car…you can see Esther in the window up stairs looking down just watching then walks away, it’s so subtle which is probably why I’ve never noticed it before but it adds to the already creepy vibe so much 🤯. I first watched this movie around the age of 10 and I was terrified I was going to become Esther 😂, I obviously hadn’t finished developing at that age so I was like what if I have what she has and I never grow and I end up like her forever and that’s quite literally what scared me the most as a child watching this 🤦🏼‍♀️😂. Also can relate, this movie makes me want to scream at the husband to open his freakin eyes and ears 🤦🏼‍♀️

I love Viola Davis too . I love Octavia Spencer as well and she did a great job in the horror movie Ma. Idk if you have seen that .

La Toya Sheri

Love this film.

La Toya Sheri

I love horror movies, I watch them all the time but this movie really got to me. Movies don't really scare me anymore but the only thing that bothers me is seeing children in danger or in pain.

Caleb

This is definitely a great film. It is frustrating and hard to resist watching until the very end. The casting was perfect and the acting was amazingly good. Orphan leaves you wanting to know more about Esther’s story. Also, in another version, there is a scene where Esther walks down the steps and meets the police as a child again. Esther survives the pond.

Davante

Just finished! I was all, "damn she figured it out" when you said she was old at the beginning, but then I was shickled titless when I realized you though it was by possession. That really was the twist thst madw the movie interesting. And heck yeah a scary movie campfire discussion live stream would be awesome!

Raj Hudek

Great movie choice! Loved this the first watch because of the crazy twist. I think they made a part two recently. Not sure if it's good but Farmiga and Saarsgard on proper form in this one! Can't wait to watch it with my scary movie pal.

OOH EVIL DEAD RISE CAME OUT TO RENT TODAY

The Gamer's Club

Watch it yes. I've seen it because Orphan is amazing! They didnt do a bad job at making her look younger! I believe they kids doing her body movements and the face is actually Isabelle Fuhrman(actress from the original)

Cat Rizzo

Now watch Orphan First Kill

Cat Rizzo

Found you on YT and I’m your 1220 sub! 👹 Love your content btw

Adi Surya Permana

I have a hard time remembering how I felt when I first watched this movie, because I was only 13 when it came out. But some of these scenes are very frustrating, but the ending is the perfect payoff.

Brandon Curtsinger

The funniest thing about this was you saying “You have arrived” when she drove into the house :D Love the livestream idea, two other movies I strongly recommend are “Annihilation” and “As Above So Below”

restlessmodem

ohhh I know exactllly which movie you're talking abouut. this was super fun to watch!!

Rania

omg i somehow missed this. can’t wait to watch !! 🤍

amanda

You should watch Ouija and Ouija origins of Evil movies. I think you'd like them.

Kayla Gerber

Also, the livestream movie discussion idea sounds great!

Henri J. Mertens

I’m excited 🥰

J Ramos

Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard really elevated the material IMO, so much of this movie had genuine character building. First Kill on the other hand is super cheesy lol. It almost feels like a completely different genre of horror/suspense film

Henri J. Mertens

I haven't seen orphan first kill yet but I remember when it first came out last year the criticism that because esther is played by the same actress and is obviously much older it didn't have the same effect as the first movie. Doesn't stop me from really wanting to watch it though :P

Sarah Lou

I've never seen this movie until now and I wanted to kick my TV watching it lol. That was so frustrating. They did a good job though!

Abe Vasquez

aaaaahhhh yesss

alex

can you watch the sequel to orphan and when evil dead rise comes out, can you react to that too? they are both such good movies

The Gamer's Club

great question! it’s basically a site where you can track and rate all the movies you watch, here’s my link! https://letterboxd.com/shesscared/

Caitlin Marie

Also what is letterbox and how do I find it?

Meghan Blust

I'm never available when my favorite people go live and it makes me sad lol but I'd absolutely be down for movie discussion!

Meghan Blust

that is so interesting to me. expectations are so influential when watching this film

Caitlin Marie

oooo see, this fascinates me. your expectations going in would totally affect how you experience this film

Caitlin Marie

oh wow this is such a cool observation

Caitlin Marie

it feel so unique and different, i love it

Caitlin Marie

Also, the movie discussion is a great idea. I'll be down for it.

Liuzetz

This movie is the definition of bizarre but super cool on how they manage to get that creepy without the whole supernatural stuff. I remember watching it back in the day it was released and it was advertised as suspense if I recall correctly, so you knew it was going to be something going on BUT not exactly horror. The whole thing with the father is EW but it makes a lot of sense once you get what is actually going on. It is infuriating of how frustrating it is hhha

Liuzetz

I first watched this movie when I was like 12 and had no idea it was a horror film, so you can imagine my shock at all of the twists and turns. This movie was somehow was nostalgic for me, and I hope you watch the prequel (partially because I've never seen it and I'm very curious about it)

Jade Hunter

So, I've loved Vera ever since I first saw her in Running Scared. This however is the first time I've seen her play a more "human" role. Normally she has a very ethereal presence and while this always fascinated me about her (and her sister for that matter because she is the same way), this was a role where I felt I could connect with her more. It also really shows her range as an actress. Didn't know she could just switch that off and be a normal person, but really cool to see!

I haven’t watched the reaction yet, but I gotta say, I adore this movie. Watched it for the first time last year, and fortunately I was able to avoid spoilers for 11 years lol
