TRASH TASTE PATREON - LIFE ADVICE

Hello Patrons,

As many of you should know by now, we aren't, well... factually correct 100% of the time. So you probably shouldn't take everything we say as life advice (Mudan fact check the goat).

That's why we want to ask YOU guys for some of your top life advice OR some of  the issues you may be struggling with now. Lay it, down on us like the little babymen we are. Or maybe we can become your gurus?

What are some of the things you may know now, but wish you knew when you were younger?

Feel free to add in some personal stories if you're ok to share!

MAY FAVORITE LIFE ADVICE SINCE I WAS IN HS: every beginning has an end, and every end has a new beginning OR "Every New Beginning Comes from the Beginnings End" by Seneca

shiroe britania

Be kind. It is one of the hardest things to keep up as you get older and your perspective more jaded, but it’s how you stay open to people, circumstances, and change.

Soluna

life becomes so much easier when you stop caring about what people think of you

How do you deal with being stuck in the middle of work and being a bum. I’m at the point in life where I feel nothing is advancing. I don’t have anything to work towards. So I don’t want to in general. But I have also been a bum where I haven’t worked for a month and believe it or not. You get tired of doing nothing. Playing games, watching TV etc. If you have been in this position. How do you get out of it?

ImNotHim

Most people that you encounter in life are going to be a lot more insecure than you think they are. And that's not a bad thing it just helps to know that everyone is going through similar things in life.

Boring Career Stuff: All of this stuff is true generally, obviously there will be exceptions. 1) The best way to get better pay is to get a new job at a different company. Companies do not reward loyalty. 2) What's important isn't being good at your job, it's having people believe you're good at your job. These are obviously related, but if everyone in your business is constantly busy, your manager isn't going to go into detail about how well you've worked, they'll vibe check it. Speaking with confidence, and promoting yourself and the good work you've done to the others around you (in a non-wanky way) will do great things for how your competency is perceived. 3) Lie on your resume, but in a smart way. If you have a skill you learned in your own time, but haven't yet used it in a job setting, say that you did. If most of your job experience isn't relevant to what you're applying for, then overemphasise the bits that do, and their role in your work. DOn't just make up skills you don't know. 4) Lastly, the workplace is filled with people, not professionals. If someone is a complete dumbass in their day to day life, they aren't suddenly going to come into the office and become reasonable. Being right is only important if the people in charge care about right-ness.

How do you personally get things done when you have no motivation? I do my best to push through those days where I have none, but it can be incredibly challenging.

The waves will always come, so learn to swim. I used to get frustrated with therapy wondering why life wasn't automatically better after learning so many tools to cope better, feel my feelings, etc. Then I heard someone say, "Learning new skills doesn't mean the waves won't come, it just means you've learned how to swim through them" and that helped me reframe my thinking about all of my progress. The lows may keep coming, but they'll be easier to face if you equip yourself with the right skills and tools to get through them.

1. Live your life when you are young go places, travel aboard, try something you want (as long as it is not drug and gambling). As you get old, it will be harder and harder due to a lot of things...such as backpain. 2. Don't rely on other to have fun in life, if you found a life long friends or partners that's great but you may not so have the ability to have good time by yourself is a skill you should have. (NOT INCLUDE "THAT" ACTIVITY" lol

CB0065

for anyone in high school, god help you; but do things outside of school. it feels like high school is your whole world and anything that goes wrong means your world is ending but truly, after a few year from graduating high school, things will pass by and make it seem so small in comparison. take advantage of your free time and try to find cultures outside of high school. obviously stick to the legal stuff.

Eat your damn protein! When I was younger I used to workout all the time. For about 5 years I never thought about my diet. Until I did and I started eating 80% - 100% of my bodyweight in grams of protein every day. Not only did it help immensely with my strength and body composition but also my sugar cravings went down (Though I still love cookies) and my overall energy went up. You can simply start by prioritizing protein at every meal like some chicken, beef or eggs and then gradually increasing it. Don't overly use protein bars/ shakes as they can def lead to digesting issues depending on your gut. Though if you find the right protein powder for you, protein and greek yogurt can be like pudding. IF you do want to starting prioritizing i'd recommend just tracking your protein and finding out about how much protein is in your food for at least a month to get a sense. Protein intake is so underrated still it improves so many aspects of your life, even if you don't do any strength training it is still incredibly important, trust me you'll see a big change if you are consistent with it. Soon enough you don't even have to think about it. You can still enjoy everything else just eat ya protein

listening is a skill just like walking and talking. never underestimate having good listening skills with all the different types of relationships you have in your life and will have in the future. so work on your listening skills. itll help out with comprehension.

Entering your 30s is not the end of the world. During my 20s, I often felt like my life was going nowhere because there was so much pressure from everybody around me to settle into a conventional lifestyle. So as closer as I would get to being 30, the more I was feeling like a letdown. And yet, something clicked after that milestone. I got my own apartment after a lifetime of savings and traveled more than I ever had before. I met more people, got a lot more professional experience in my field, and fulfilled a bunch of lifelong dreams. So my advice is to just go through life at your own pace and enjoy every stage because the best is yet to come for you. And don't ever let anyone shame you for living with your parents, because there's no point in spending thousands of dollars on rent unless forced by circumstances. The amount of money you could end up saving is insane. And do travel as much as you can in your youth, because the body does start to give up after a certain age, haha.

Lady Lexie VT

Don’t have too much or too little of everything, including estimation. What people deserves isn’t always what they need. In order to break or change rules, first understand them and their point. We will always be flawed. But looking for, acknowledging, and working on those flaws is what will make life better.

Androo Gnoix

Try. I think we often forget to give it our all because we believe that we can sail through some events without doing much, and later on we think back to the days we could've worked harder or pursued more things. Try your best even when you don't fully feel like it, build discipline so that when it actually matters you're not relying on motivation to get you through, therefore not scraping by the edge of your teeth. Try even when times are tough, because even if there isn't light at the end of the tunnel you can adapt and become better. Start believing you can make your own way out of the darkness if the path doesn't lead you anywhere. Start believing in yourself.

Make friends from all walks of life. Yes at some point you'll meet people that are likeminded or enjoy similar hobbies, but also having a separate group that have different perspectives helps to foster kindness and open-mindedness. Even hearing a "wrong" opinion makes you the wiser because it's not just dat guy that has that opinion, unfortunately...

I remember I was in class one day and we just finished discussing our final thoughts on Catcher in the Rye. And I was like fuck that wasn't bad but didn't we just read the inner monologues of a kid who is the today's equivalence of an edge lord. It got me thinking though, why are some stories put on a higher pedestal than others. And I extend this to other facets of media as well, like why are books more esteemed than comics and movies. There are all stories just with different ways to tell it. Why does the school make me read about incest and the tragedy of Oedipus Rex. I get that some stories are of older times and it is good to try realize the impact those books and plays had when they came out, but other than that and trying to expand my vocabulary. I honestly think, and this might be a wild fucking statement, having to write a paper psychoanalyzing Griffith would be better for schools, because he is a more complex and interesting character than Oedipus Rex. I think students could get more out of reading berserk than Oedipus. With the exception of maybe learning a more diverse vocabulary if you read Oedipus, Berserk is a better story because of the complex characters and themes throughout the story. I think people would have more to learn from that than the vocabulary. Point in being I think schools and well all people in general should embrace all media and treat it equally, because ultimately stories are stories and art is art, no matter the form it is told or shown in. Also Fahrenheit 451 is a dog ass story, I say let the students read Dune instead damn it.

FitzFitz

Everyone suffers, but it is up to us to create meaning out of it. I have struggled with my self-image, hobbies, and especially my self-worth, and life-threatening dramas (I'd rather not get into it). I have learned to accept that everything that happened to me, already happened and I should accept that. I can't change the past, but I can most certainly change my future. A book that helped me realize this (yes ik who tf reads books), is Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl would recommend it to anyone if they are interested.

Apollo

it's better to not worry about things that don't matter to you personally or just day to day inconveniences

Glorypriest

Not everyone has the same amount of spoons that you do. Not everyone has the same amount of forks you do. But we all have a limit of spoons we can give and forks we can take. Spoons are the amount of energy you may have per day. Sometimes we only have one spoon, sometimes we have a dozen. Sometimes the spoons are teaspoons, sometimes they are soup spoons. Forks are the amount of pain points you can take per day. A fork may be small but when it stabs you it still hurts.

AximusPrimus

As time passes, making friends and keeping friends becomes harder and harder as the world and we, as people, continue to grow. Especially when you have problems with socialising, yet the people around you find it much easier to create shallow or deeply connected friendships. I say this as a uni student who struggles with autism and severe social anxiety where I do not know simple things like if you're supposed to talk to someone if they're on their phone texting next to you when you were talking to them. Or how to create a friend group, or even how to make friends properly and not be a one-sided effort. It is, an endless struggle.

Life isn't as short as people like to think it is. The average life expectancy around the world is around 70. Take your time. There are lots of trade jobs that you can apply to, people just don't look at these cause they are looked down upon, however they pay good money, don't require a high education, and if you get good at these they become quite flexible. `Nothing changes if nothing changes ` I heard this in the past year and it helped me a lot. You can't get a better life or strive to your goals if you don't change up your life. Motivation can't hold you up, you need to discipline yourself if you want to improve.

If you aren't directly involved, don't get into drama if you don't have to. It's unfuilling in the long run and more trouble than it is worth.

Don't spend your life sweating on the small stuff and let the moment pass you buy. The hobbies you're doing now will dry up and you'll look back at how seriously you took it all. The opportunities to do really cool stuff are not infinite and you need to enjoy them while they're happening. Not worry what's next.

Something I'm sort of thinking about: There's a lot of pressure to achieve great things and be passionate about something, but I'm happy with the idea of living a bog standard life (family, kids etc.) without any real passion outside of enjoying living and trying to experience as much as I can within that. Do you boys think that that's a valid way of life (I know you guys are content creators, but asking mostly about how well it's ended up for people you know)

AlBaraa AlBakri

If you feel lonely, don‘t rush into bad relationships just to feel better. Its better to have 1 Friend who listens to your problems than 20 that don‘t. Don‘t take peoples comments to personal, when they ask about getting a partner. Its best to only get together with someone when the vibe is right. Never force yourself to be with someone just because you will no longer be single. Most importantly don‘t be afraid to take risks in studies, wanna try and learn/ become what you always wanted? Go for it. You wouldn‘t wanna be an old person who regrets not trying to achieve their dreams.

Life advice: Take every piece of life advice with a grain of salt, somethings that may be relevant to others may not be relevant to you and vice versa. Best way to know for sure is trial and error. Wait....

AlBaraa AlBakri

never be happy what you have cause if you are your are standing still i life but should never lose respect to yourself no matter what (never be happy is meant not in the way suffer every day in life but try to improve every day in one or another way and respekt your own bodys borders hear what it has to say)

Steppi Nick

RogueJoy(Daniel)

I've spent a lot of time regretting some of the choices I made in the past and wishing I had done things differently. Eventually, I came to realize that that is a waste of time, and will get me nowhere. No matter how hard you try, the past is set and unchangeable. Thankfully, the future isn't. And on the topic of the future, I used to spend a lot of time fantasizing about it instead of taking the steps to actually get to where I want to be. Overall, focus on the here and now, and pace yourself to achieve the dreams you want. Set realistic goals to get there too! I also wanted to mention that, a manga that I heavily relate with in terms of growing up, getting my shit together, and figuring out what I want to do in life is Inio Asano's "Solanin," and I think it's a manga that everyone can take something really valuable away from. The fact that he told that story in only two volumes is mind blowing. That's why he's the goat! THE GOAT!!!

Have faith in yourself and learn to love yourself. Seek help from friends, family and a mental health professional if necessary. In the end, you're the person that matters the most in your life. Only by accepting your flaws and taking care of yourself can you really grow. Try as best as possible to find out what are your passions in life and keep in touch with the people you love and cherish. I wish that I figured that out earlier in life. I still struggle, to this day, to find happiness and peace of mind but I am slowly working towards that goal. Suffering from anxiety and insomnia (also from loneliness), it sometimes feel like everything goes wrong for me so I take little steps to change things for the better. Hope it doesn't take forever though... Not getting any younger...

Mental health is important. A unhealthy/mindset can easily become normal and hard to rid of. Friends and family along with a hobby can make a real diffrence.

Le Chonk

School doesn't teach you how to live. I figured it would but Paying bills, Investing/saving money. How to keep yourself alive with food, insurance, medical is all stuff you basically have no idea about when graduating HS or Uni. So my life advice is get your parents (or if they are meh your friends successful parents) to train you on that real life stuff.

ZeosPantera

If you don't have a passion for something or don't seem to care, putting yourself out there/pursuing a hobby could help you realize what you like and open up new chances in life.

Le Chonk

your perspective in life during school years is really limited by your peers. I saw myself and others often being in this unseen pressure to have to do something or else life goes wrong. Since most trash taste viewers are probably sad, single weebs: don’t be discouraged because you’re unattractive. Seeing the usual take on the Internet getting horribly often misinterpreted I would say stuff you learned in school that you think are useless (e.g. poetry analysis, reading comprehension, advance math) is more important than one might think. You may not necessarily need the content of those classes directly but they teach you skills that are useful and can be applied for for anywhere else (e.g. differentiating truth from misinformation, understanding contract terms, etc.)

Testicular Cancer is the most common form of cancer for men under 35. Fondle your balls every once in a while, if you find a lump, go to a doctor.

Don't take your family for granted. They won't be around forever so make time to talk, hang out, and kiss your sister.

Live Everyday As If It Will Be Your Last Honestly you won't know whats gonna happen to you tomorrow. Struck by lightning, visit from truck-kun, some random hater stabs you in an alley etc. So don't hesitate on making decisions that you'll regret in the future for not making. Go to a bar you've always wanted to go to, spend money on that thing you think is useless but you just want it, get a car, get a house, make babies etc. Money? Just find a way to make it when you don't have enough of it. You guys are creators, so get creative.

It´s a Wrap!!

To not take life seriously, death comes to everyone so why choose to stress. Enjoy the breeze on your face and the sun hitting your skin, enjoy the cold weather where your toes will quiver and die and enjoy the hardest parts of your life because without those things life isn't living. Even the worst things like death of a family member should be enjoyed because we got to experience the love and memories that they gave us in the first place. So take risks, lose money, waste time on dreams because if we don't we never truly live in the first place.

Essentially, save NOTHING for marriage. You need to be sure not only that you're physically compatible, but also compatible on the things that come from living together like cleanliness habits, do they snore and can you deal with it? Do you have similar trajectories/life plans? Similar interests? The desire or lack there of to travel the world? A marriage is so much more than a relationship that's going well.

One phrase I always use (mostly when explaing to people why I make jokes about my mental health and disabilities😅) is "if you don't laugh you'll cry" because, at least to me, I think of it as yes life sucks but if you let it get to you and don't see the funny side of life, especially in the bad times, then you'll just lose yourself to sadness so always find the funny side and even the hardest of times.

sian evans

Do not chase materialistic things for the sake of materialistic things. I have see multiple people in my life who had suffered because of it. I myself has suffered from it. Materialistic things should be enablers for you to better yourself in some aspect. Use them to strengthen your bonds with other people.

The best life advice I've gotten is that you need to treat life like tuning a guitar string. If you wound it too tight, it will snap and break. If you wound it too loose, then it won't make a sound. Wound it just right in the middle, and then it will make a pleasing sound. With that addition, different people are a different string. What is too loose for some may be just right for others. Focus on tuning your strings first. Garnt may know where I got this phrase.
