Hope everyone likes this one! We wrote a short, but hopefully sweet story to boot too. :)

"We all know the feeling of finding ourselves indoors on a cold day with the ones we love. This day would be no exception to that, except that the ambient was enhanced by the pitter patter of rain against the windows. Its peaceful, just as I like it. Just like E. likes it too.
We find ourselves laying on a fuzzy carpet, two comfy pillows behind our heads and a blanket pulled over the both of us. I have a book in my hands, one that I wrote long ago, but she never got to hear so it would fall to me to read it to the two of us.
E. never really was cuddly, except for the rare moment here and there with this being one of them as she nuzzled up against my chest, her ears flicking as her eyes slowly drooped to a close with a smile.
It was a simple read really, one could never go wrong writing a story about two hearts finding one another after a long, long time of being apart and yet, I felt moved by it, despite it having been penned by my hand in the distant past, for to the story, there is a story.
To write it, I drew upon the sorrow I had felt when I lost E. some would argue... lifetimes ago and yet life would find itself to be kind to me this once. Something I'm reminded of, whenever I look to her laying in my arms.
Even though things are never perfect and she had struggled adjusting to the world as it is, we have each other as the one comfort to rule them all. Small moments like these - are what I cherish. The things you remember when truly everything is at stake.
The very things that give you strength to face a looming darkness. Luckily for the two of us, the only dark there is on this day is brought forth by the weather.
Remember, count the small blessings, they'll make for a happier life in the long run, rather than waiting for miracles. Embrace the ones that you care about - tell them what they mean to you. Take it from someone that has lost everything - you usually don't get a second chance."
