No-Press Speech Recognition with End-of-Speech Keyword
Added 2025-03-24 13:41:36 +0000 UTCThe updated vamX Deepgram App allows you to use a single keyword as a "send now" command.
If you choose the keyword "Jenny" and say "Let's go play Jenny" the AI responds to "Let's go play" (the keyword is removed, so you can use any word).
Keyword sending prevents your speech from being cut off if you pause momentarily, without creating long delays by ensuring you've finished speaking by waiting for a couple of seconds of silence.
You can also use normal send delays, so that Deepgram sends after 0.5 seconds (or other amounts of silence), or send by whichever comes first (0.5 seconds of silence or the keyword).
You can now also use Deepgram with the new Global Server.

Additional Changes & Improvements
The vamX Deepgram App has been updated to automatically stop after 10 minutes of silence (otherwise servers are constantly attempting to find speech, perhaps for hours, even though all that is sent is silence). Simply press Connect again if you want to continue after a 10-minute period of not talking.
Selected Microphone and Send Delay are now saved.
When switching Servers in the Select Server drop down, you no longer have to press Stop and then Start (it automatically restarts with a connection to the new selected server).

Yeah I was starting the deepgram app first, loading VamX then AI, then going back and pressing the "Press Here to Start Listening" instead of starting VamX AI first then executing Deepgram. thanks for your help.

2025-04-05 04:29:05 +0000 UTCFirst open vamX AI Chat, then switch to the folder in the separate Deepgram App, or make a couple of folders and switch between them. If you have the same server selected in Deepgram and vamX (say both to the EU server) then you should have your current chat replaced by your personality list at that point. Also you may need to "Press Here to Start Listening".

2025-04-05 01:25:29 +0000 UTCNot sure if this helps, but I had mine extracted to the VamX folder. I created a different folder for Deepgram then extracted everything to it and deleted the extracted file from the VamX folder. After I did that it worked fine.

2025-04-02 02:53:25 +0000 UTCI am having a similar issue. Haven't been able to ever get it to work. When I click start listening I hear the AI give the first response (e.g. hello) but then nothing I say is ever picked up / responded to. Responses using the trigger key in Vam work perfectly.

2025-04-01 06:02:14 +0000 UTCNo spaces, I even deleted the text file for the key, ran AI in Vam X again to generate a new key, then pasted the new key in. I check my anti-virus software and it's not blocked. It's odd, when I tell deepgram to start listening the AI says hello, then after a moment it says hello again in a different voice. It's like it's resetting itself.

For example a new VaM installation would have a different key, or if that file got deleted, etc. Or maybe there is a " " space before or after the key as you entered it in DeepgramApp. Go back to VaM\Saves\PluginData\vamX and open vamX_ai_chat_key.txt and very carefully copy/paste that in making sure there are no spaces before and after. Another thing to check is that your firewall / antivirus aren't somehow blocking deepgram, maybe you would need to add an exception for it (although I've never had to, or heard of anyone who had to, but it's definitely theoretically possible for antivirus software to block web or socket traffic for an app).

2025-03-28 06:07:56 +0000 UTCWeird, I got it to work the first time I used it but have not been able to get it to work since. I haven't changed any settings. I'm using the correct AI key and password and I'm on the same server. I'm also using the same microphone. AI can hear me if i right click on the mouse or hit the trigger button on my VR but won't pick up Deepgram at all
