So why not expand Raven's understanding and offer her an alternative option to sticking around on a planet whose populace would hunt her down or force her to use her abilities for their own gain?

Something like "I'm different from normal humans but what I can do isn't the same as you". Raven would likely just take that to mean we just have a different mutant power rather than we are another species and we wouldn't be outright lying nor just giving everything away either.
