I agree. I like the setup and I didn't find it distracting, but better lighting on their faces and a little closer up would be an improvement. I think perhaps they underestimate how much we all like them and that they're just as important as the shows they're reacting to.

The quality of the close ups is definitely better than the last upload. However I do think that the overall quality of the ‘reaction’ has been lowered in order to include a better ‘set’. I’m sure that you guys were excited and spent a lot of time creating the room and new setup, but I think ultimately the old setup and viewing experience was better. ♥️

He said his priest was Irish because in England; Catholic and Ireland (one generation ago anyway) were almost synonymous with each other. Catholic priests were almost always Irish, certainly enough that anyone making up a fake priest would invent an Irish sounding name. This has changed a bit in the last 20 years or so, but you'd probably still use an Irish name in that scenario.

I have to be honest and say that the new layout is a big downgrade in terms of enjoyment Two huge negatives straight away ,are the fact that the room you are in has very bad lighting ,you are now just 2 hidden figures hiding in the dark ,the other huge negative ,is that you now seem very closed off from us ,just 2 heads cropped off in those little boxes Before it was great ,it was bright and welcoming ,we could see more of you and it felt open and inviting. Now you have closed yourself out and away from the viewers ,hidden away in small dark cropped boxes

Absolutely cringe inducing episode this one, Kate is great and like all the guest stars in this program is playing against type cast, think Jess almost disappeared into that chair at one point, going all George Floyd on us with the "I can't breathe ". You wait till see the other stars in the show and I really hope you watched the Golden globes with Ricky as that adds a back story to one of the stars of the show. Merchant is so good in this too.

I love the new set up. Took a few moments to adjust, but it's great. Obviously my favourite side is the Elvis one. I noticed you have a copy of Unruly by David Mitchell. I bought a signed copy in 2023. I'll never forget it because around two seconds after hitting the order button on my phone, the bus I was on crashed into the back of a car. Yeah, 'clunge' is defo slang for vag. It's okay if you've used the word in the wrong context because nothing could be worse than my social faux pas. New setup does look great , the coloured boxes are a little off putting, i know its only a small thing but with your old setup (because you were using green screen), its like you were both part of the same screen as what was actually being watched. but its not a huge dealbreaker, i just dont like change 😂

If I have to give feedback, I think the camera should be a little closer on the wide - you seem a bit far. I assume when the reaction is up, yours heads cutting into the reaction video is to help with copyright? Otherwise, the new set up is really good. Sure it helps not having green screen removal in the edit

As everyone is giving their opinion on the new look, we'll do the same. Love the set up for the intro and closing chat, the space you have created works really well for those and looks great ....... but really don't like it during the reaction, with the 2 of you in small boxes pushed into opposite corners of the screen. On a big screen TV it was like being at a tennis match looking from left to right over and over. Sorry to be negative as we can see a lot of work has gone into it, but really don't think it works as well as the old set up. As a wise man once said "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Stephen Merchant is also a atheist so I don't think Ricky can take all of the blame in this case on this show. Also Derek is a heartwarming and funny show and that was written entirely by Ricky. I get what you're saying though, a lot of the characters Ricky has played are atheists, he does include some of his own beliefs in his writing which can be annoying, it's the reason I now can't stand Russell Howard, he used to be one of my favourite comedians but then he started mentioning that he is an atheist in his stand-up and it got tiresome fast.

I personally prefer the old set-up with the green screen it was a lot brighter, it felt a lot more like I was just hanging out with friends and it was cozy. This new set-up just feels "corporate" if you get what I mean, like I get you guys want it to look more professional but too many YouTubers go down this route and they lose what made people like them and subscribe to them, a perfect example is Jacksepticeye he used to be vibrant and loud and now he's just a "brand". I hope you don't get upset because I do recognize and appreciate the work that probably went into this new set-up. I hope you guys understand what I mean, I just don't want to see you guys become just another "brand" and lose what made us all like you guys and subscribe.

Love the new set and layout. Maybe rotate the background props for the different shows you are reacting to? Just an idea. I say it every time but the Gervais/Merchant pairing is just comedy genius. I think Extras might be where they are at their peak as when they split Gervais seemed to lean a little too heavily on the drama for me and lost a little something. After Life is an absolutely classic show but nowhere near as quick witted as this and relies slightly too much on crude for me. Still can’t wait for your reactions though as I think you will love it.

Too distracting imo having 3: separate things to try to look at at once, no point in being a reaction channel if you can't see what is happening and the reactions of you both at the same time, just my opinion but the older one with the green screen was much cleaner and could see everything all at once, you wouldn't go to the movies and try and watch 3 things happening at once so why do it for a reaction channel? Do love the room though

The quality is very professional. It loses the ‘cosiness’ but I guess that’s what you were going for. I like the separate boxes. I’m still laughing at Andy’s saint being St Bernard (the dog breed) as all he could think of, and Michael Flatley the Irish dancer who devised the broadway show Lord of the Dance. That makes me laugh every time. A great episode to showcase your new professional look.

I’m not religious, never go to church but I find Ricky’s evangelical atheism really tedious. We are not a religious country, and any politician or public figures who speaks too much about their faith tends to be seen as a little weird. I think the same about flag wavers for atheism.

I think if you guys could introduce mini popup green screens behind you just for during watching the show then you'd have the perfect evolution whilst still keeping what made it so great before with the full screen and being able to better see you both during it. Jess melting into the chair during the prayer meeting for example would have been magical in the previous format but was lost a little here. But I do LOVE your new room and the time and thought and love that went into it, and that's fantastic to see, and ultimately your dynamic and the reason we watch you guys is very much still there.

Both the new and old style work they are just different. This layout certainly is okay to me though. A lot of other reaction channels have way worse. BTW looking great both of you. Your dynamic as a couple bring a smile to my face even at the worst times.

Overall quality is definitely a lot higher, so thank you for resolving that! I think it's a tough one cus I think the new studio looks great, but you are just so far away from what we're used to, and it's not a huge issue cus the reaction itself is the important part. As mentioned in my last comment, I feel like we're missing out a bit on the body language, but maybe I'm being picky :)
