You will have also seen Neil Fitzmaurice (Ray Von) in The Office. He is the fork lift truck driver getting hired in the very first episode, and also getting let go in the series one finale.

2025-09-26 20:50:18 +0000 UTCA lot of people here don’t actually know wtf the confederate flag is, they think it’s just a cowboy reference. My neighbour used to have it on his van. My dad tried explaining to him what it was and he didn’t get it, he eyes completely glazed over.

2025-09-24 12:30:45 +0000 UTCLol, it isn't but that is quite funny. Swabs for STD/STIs didn't exist when that song was written. It's from before the American Civil War. The STD part is a more recent thing people have concocted. It's a lot more likely to have roots in slavery as either white eyes against black skin (cotton eye), or in actual picking of cotton.

2025-09-23 12:10:06 +0000 UTCShabba!!!! Love that this is finally getting a reaction, so many amazing episodes, Kenny Sr’s stories just keep getting better…roll on series 2 with the bouncy castle. “Cant we cover it up? Yeah! We’ll put a woolly hat on it and say it’s you” 🤣🤣🤣 Amazing seeing you both absolutely cracking up for the whole episode x

2025-09-22 12:24:42 +0000 UTCI don't particularly like Western films and Will Smith is a complete asshat, so Wild Wild West would be like pulling teeth.

2025-09-21 07:23:01 +0000 UTCAbsolutely hate that I was hungover as f@ck this morning and stuck on Mike and Jess' reactions to this episode and The Ricky Gervais Show as comfort.....and now I'm back from another night out with no winddown comfort shows to watch because I got greedy by watching both this morning 🤦♂️

2025-09-20 20:47:13 +0000 UTCGlad you’re enjoying this series. When it’s all over please react to the Phoenix Nights bloopers. They are hilarious and watching them it really makes you appreciate how the actors were finally able to get through the scene without cracking up! “Max and Paddy’s Road to Nowhere” is a sequel to “Phoenix Nights,” but best watched after the last episode (you’ll understand why when you see it). “The Avengers,” was an early 1960’s British spy series, which initially centered around a medical doctor wanting to avenge the murder of his wife by gangland criminals. He is helped by a man called John Steed (played by Patrick Macnee) who works for an unidentified British spy department (hence the show’s title). The show eventually changed by replacing the doctor with a female side kick for Steed, called Cathy Gale (Honor Blackman). Wearing tight leather outfits, Cathy was one of the first female TV protagonists who would use Judo to defend herself against gangland criminals and spies out to destroy the UK. Eventually, Honor Blackman left the series to star opposite Sean Connery as James Bond, where she played the risqué sounding Pussy Galore in “Goldfinger,” (1964). Honor Blackman’s replacement was Diana Rigg, who played opposite John Steed as Mrs. Emma Peel, and she would continue with the show’s Judo action. It was at this time (1965) that the show moved away from many of its spy led stories in favour of more fantastical stories that centered on bizarre characters and even more bizarre incidences. It was these changes that made the show even more popular in the UK than it had been in previous seasons. In Rigg’s 2nd season the show was filmed in colour and was probably the only British TV series that was so popular worldwide, that it got its own prime time slot on the American network channel, ABC, something no other British show had achieved at that time. In 1968, Diana Rigg left the series to follow in Honor Blackman’s footsteps where she played another Bond girl, opposite one time Bond actor, George Lazenby in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” (1969). She was replaced by Linda Thorson who wasn’t as popular as Rigg and the show was eventually cancelled in 1969. The show came back in 1976, for two seasons. Renamed “The New Avengers,” it once again starred Patrick Macnee as John Steed, joined this time by two side kicks, Purdey (Joanna Lumley) and Mike Gambit (Gareth Hunt) who was there to do the physical action that Macnee’s advancing years could no longer do. “The Avengers/The New Avengers,” was a great TV series of its time, and is beloved by those who enjoy fantastical spy adventures mixed with action and humour.

2025-09-20 14:35:48 +0000 UTCCan’t wait till you meet some other characters and realise it’s actually Peter Kay haha. Honestly one of my favourite shows. Watched it daily for a long time haha. Max and paddy will blow you away though. It’s more comedy that you’ll enjoy and get in to. Personally I think this is regional comedy that you’ll only really get tire from around these parts. But like you’ve already said, it’s funny and you may not get everything but you’re really enjoying it and that’s the main thing. Love you guys

2025-09-20 14:30:39 +0000 UTCThis was great! I've never seen Phoenix Nights before and I love watching it for the first time with you guys

2025-09-20 13:29:20 +0000 UTC‘Shabba!’. Ray Von first says on here. It’s why it gets such a alight at the Pater Kay ‘marriage’ concert you watched. Brian’s got the vase as it’s the only reveptacle that is tall enough to reach up and get his own drinks 🤣

2025-09-20 10:02:05 +0000 UTCThe Avengers tv show from the 60s was the most famous Avengers at the time (in the uk). Tbh I’d never heard of Marvel Avengers until they started that sequence of movies.

2025-09-20 09:50:44 +0000 UTCAnd you’d be absolutely right 🤣

2025-09-20 09:35:10 +0000 UTCGot a feeling that Jess is going to turn up over at off-topic banter Ai-ed as Will Smith 😕
Tom
2025-09-20 09:09:12 +0000 UTCThe Avengers was a TV in the 60s, it was made into a movie in the late 90s / early 00s, the movie was the version with Sean Connery. It has nothing to do with Marvel. iirc the actress who played Olenna Tyrell in GoT was one of the main characters in the original 60s version. Also, because we already had a movie called The Avengers, Marvel had to call their 2012 Avengers movie 'Avengers Assemble' in the UK.

2025-09-20 07:52:00 +0000 UTCFun fact (well, not THAT fun), when Max runs into the door it wasn't scripted, Peter Kay cracked one of his ribs.

2025-09-20 07:45:52 +0000 UTCThe Avengers is based on the TV show from the 60s, nothing to do with Marvel. The film's a stinker but the series is great.

2025-09-20 07:33:25 +0000 UTCWhen I was born my parents had moved to Easter house in Glasgow, when it was 1st built, there was a guy who lived there that every Friday used to ride his black horse in full cowboy gear to a place called the Grand Ole Opry at the other end of Glasgow to take part in their ' shoot out' with other Glaswegian ' cowboys'. Years and years later I took some Phillipinos to experience it. I don't know if the Grand Ole Opry is still open but I'll always remember the guy dressed all in black cowboy gear with his shooters on his hip riding his horse through Easterhouse.
