Peep Show - S1E4 'Mark Makes a Friend'

Comments

The “El Dude Brothers”. You find out later where it came from.

BlackCountrySoul

“I’m 85% sure I’m straight” lmao

Kayleigh

“It’s called an education.”

Duncan

You’re right Mike. You have seen Jeff in something else. He’s in The Office, he’s the guy that’s getting made redundant by Brent. The one who’s describing the difference between dwarves, midgets, elves etc. 😂

Sam Wolsey

This show is great. I’m watching this again and it was only posted 3 days ago 😂

Emma Edwards

I didn't know that, Thank you!

Danny Heywood

Neil Fitzmaurice who plays Jeff is a Hillsborough survivor, coincidentally

Kieran B

He’s also the one hired at the very start of the first episode “he gives the tests…”

Kieran B

Tea is serious business. There's now to laugh at!

Paul08031977

Yes, as I understand, most black tea should be steeped in boiling water. But other teas, such as green, at a lower temperature.

Paul08031977

Hilarious

Col Boro

You have very persuasive friends.

ElvisLee

The reason that milk should not go in first is because for tea to be brewed properly, the water poured onto the teabag must be at boiling temperature. This why tea in places like Costa or Starbucks is often poor and weak, because they are using the water at a temperature more suited to coffee. Even some English people are unaware of this, and they are often confused as to why someone would click the kettle back on when the water is still extremely hot. I think that Jess is living up to the show's title seeing as she watches a lot of it through her fingers 🫣

ElvisLee

Mike after thirty seconds: “That last episode left me a little bit scarred.” Mike after thirty minutes: 😳

Duncan

His total confusion at Mark not being in love with The Company is pure gold.

Duncan

OMG cracking up - Jess can you blink just a few more times please - your reaction is brilliant. 🤩

sadie penman

“You don’t put milk in first, that’s savage.” Again, well done Jess 😂👍🏻

Duncan

Enter the legend Johnson.

Gary

Johnson's disgust at Mark loving him and not the business is the perfect summary for Johnson's character. He's a businessman and that's all he wants.🤣

trev

Controversial! 🙂 Wars have been started for less 😂

Duncan

Jess’ reaction to Mark changing the gears in Johnson’s car was pretty much my reaction too 😂

Duncan

Johnson is the greatest character ever

Aaron Page

One of the funniest episodes of anything I've ever seen lol. Just absolutely barmy from start to finish. Absolutely ingenious craziness.

James Forrest

mark's weird behavior clearly stems from him putting the milk in first

Nath

It’s less weird after season 1 I love that episode tho

Chorlton Outlaw

Team milk in tea first 🙋‍♀️

Nicola

Please carry on 🤞🏻

afrochuck

You might be recognising Jeff as he was in a scene of the British Office - he's the one being laid off by David Brent, then David and Gareth start asking him all those questions about elves and dwarves and midgets 😂

Ian

I'd have to break your rule, then. Sorry!

Paul08031977

Until next episode

Barok

She’s bright as a button

Erica

That episode is so good 🤣🤣🤣

Erica

That is a brilliantly succinct summary on quite a ‘unique’ friendship over the course of so many seasons, fair play!

Ash C

Have a feeling Jess had to fax her soul off to God…for an upgrade after this episode 😂 Also reckon if you were to ever someday do a ‘best of’ highlights compilation of reactions when you hang up the boots this will be right up there 🤣

Ash C

Seen every series a couple of times through and Super Hans and Johnson became my 2 favourite characters as the show progresses. Both come into their own and only get more mental as they develop 🤣

Patrick Nicholls

these two clearly have a problem with gay people

Daniel

That's a common misconception, most coffee is roast at temps over 200c so boiling water can't burn it, it over extracts and brings out bitter flavours which are already in the coffee, but this only happens with dark roast coffee, most medium roast and all light roast coffees can be brewed with boiling water straight out of the kettle with no over extraction.

Mark Jones

‘The Johnson’ - one of the finest characters in any comedy show!

Duncan

i for one liked the gay porn bit

Daniel

Damn 👍

Megatron

Yes, don't worry, Superhans isn't in any more episodes.

David Jones

I hope we don't traumatise these poor people too much 😔 Jess went green 😕 was hilarious though 😆

Josh Read

Coffee actually burns at a high temp. I usually put a dash of milk in first to prevent this. Tea bags, however, need a high temperature to steep properly. Putting the milk in first is sacrilege. Jess is correct.

Simon Charlie

I would def count them as 'friends' but their relationship is toxic af. They are co-dependent.. Mark relies on Jez's social confidence and energy for the 'less serious side of life' while Jez needs Mark's stability. However, as we so very often hear in their minds, they are both very resentful of this co-dependent situation and therefore each other.

Simon Charlie

Jess quick to pick up on the insinuations in Mark doing the gears, didn't think that would translate so quickly.

emu cat

no milk on tea bag fs noooooo...... lol show is nuts lol

Paul

Even if you brew in a teapot, you still don't put the milk in first. You need to see how strong the tea is first then add milk to taste...

Paul08031977

Yes never put the milk in a cup/mug first. You've got to let the tea in the bag brew out into the hot water unimpinged by the layer of milk fat blocking the tea bag pores.

Fordy7169

If you brew in a teapot it hardly matters which way round, same with coffee 'not that instant shyte' brew it in a coffee pot, heat milk 30secs in microwave is easiest or use pan if you're quality, top with proper coffee. Either way but not for brew in the cup tea, let it cook some before the milk surely. Obviously this is most important thing we gather from this episode 😆🙂

emu cat

He actually co-wrote Phoenix nights, along with Dave Spikey.

Paul08031977

hahahah tooo funny

Alex Miller

you do recognise Jeff, he was in an episode of The Office UK, he's the guy who Brent fires. He's also in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights (which you NEED to watch) watched both series regularly for years, took multiple watches for me to realise it was the same actor

Δ Tessellate

The ending of this one is pretty hard to watch, but you have so much more cringe to come. As others have said, it gets better after season 1.

Karlos

This is the reaction I'd been waiting for since you guys said you like cringe comedy while watching The Office or something.

Kirk Deighton

100% agreed

Dandelion

Does it? 🤔

Dandelion

Finally, I now don't have to feel bad for calling Mike 'Daddio' all the time

Daz Parker

It gets WAY worse 😄

Dannythedoodle

Johnson has to be one of the top comedy characters of all time, his appearances only get funnier. Watching you watching the reveal of 'the bad thing' was hysterical haha

Rach

I'm on Jess' side. Only criminals make tea like that!

Dannythedoodle

Two quick things that might help when watching this M&J! This and the last episode have the most difficult scenes to watch imo. There is only a few more anywhere near that tricky in the whole show, and by then you will have your sea legs! Also you won't have come across characters like this much in the US comedies I wouldn't have thought. As you can see they aren't very nice people, selfish, dysfunctional, codependent, arguably sociopathic! It's all just a disaster in slow mo, so knowing all that, best way to enjoy it is just relax and watch the carnage unfold!

Richard Stokes

You're right, only psychopaths make tea like that

Nathan Wilson

My fave ep

Ethan furness

"I hope Super Hans never shows up again" How dare you! 🤣

Lee

This was hilarious 🤣 I think Jess needed a stiff drink after this!

Emily

You don't like a BJ POV?

Ian Roxburgh

Come on Mike a cheeky BJ between friends is standard practice in the UK.

Jára Zimmerman

congrats you survived arguably the most cringe episode of the whole show lol. Great reaction guys though. The series really picks up from season 2 onwards, the character really start shining

Demceez

I just wanna know how comes you know so much about Neil Fitzmaurice?

Tro Janors

am I the only one hearing Mike say "Billy Mitchell"? 🤣

James Welsh

Great episode!

bobby g

right my turn now

Vee

I think this episode has traumatised you both, haha

Kevin Liversage

'The El Dude Brothers'. They're not brothers and certainly not dudes. 'Jeff' is played by Neil Fitzmaurice, as people have mentioned he was the forklift driver 'Alex' in the 1st and last episodes of The Office. He also appears in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights show and was one of the co-writers.

Fordy7169

Yes of course. Maybe 80%.

Fordy7169

"it plopped out" 😅😂🤣

Jamie Derry

33:18 - I think British comedy finally broke you guys.

Michael K

Sundays are my favourite day of the week right now!

Beth

We call them sushi-go-round! Love them

SimonNZ

I guess it IS sort of... nice?

NameJeff

2003 doesn't seem that long ago but it's amazing how much things have changed. Mark had to go to the shop, purchase some gay pornography, take it home and put it in his VHS player just to check if he was gay. Nowadays, I can bring up even hardcore European style gay pornography on my phone within seconds. I've already checked three times this morning and I'm happy to confirm that I'm not gay.

Jeffrey44

Should've labelled this one "The emasculation of Mike" 😂

Ever So Sweet Mary Jane

I was waiting for the reaction to that ending - the cut to Lighthouse Family in the credits is perfect 😂

Tim

I enjoyed this but that ending sucked.

ElvisLee

" no no no" lol

mark

I’m always confused how people know how strong it is when it’s already milky. I don’t take milk at all, so maybe I’m just not used to the different shades of brown.

Julian

Great reaction Jess & Mike

The Puzzler 99

Yay!!! You’re finally laughing at the show 🫶🏻 It just takes a while to get to know the characters. It’s character based humour. You’ll absolutely love watching their multiple story arcs! And I’ll love watching you watching it!

Annabel Andrews

You never put the milk in first! 😭😭😭😭

Matt Draper

Forget the TV show, I'm here for Mike's reaction 🤣

Nathan Daly

‘Why, Daddio?’

Scott Innes

I have watched peepshow 100 times and can easily watch it 100 times more and it gets better in season 2.

SEAN

Admit it, she's got a FAT ARSE. SAY IT

James Waters

The first season is a tough watch but it gets so much better. Johnson is also a great re-occuring character.

Jon

Super Hans is my favourite character in this by far. Some of the lines he comes out with.

Annabel Andrews

He didn’t say “I’m in love with you”, that was his internal dialogue.

Annabel Andrews

You are paying to get that snake to get dry cleaned!

Annabel Andrews

Male relationships.

Jeffrey44

Take me Johnson

Jamie

Depends where

Jamie

wtf was that episode all about 🫣🤣

Emma Edwards

Yeh occasionally they have good intentions but most of the time it’s a slow motion car wreck and we’re along for the ride.

Julian

Please don’t give up on the show 😂 this is probably the most ‘explicit’ one. You’ll start to love Johnson too, he steals every scene he’s in. You’ve made it this far so it’s smooth sailing from here 😂

JK 88

Johnson! My favourite character...

Andrew

Although it will often be for different reasons. I think maybe season 1 is the cringiest in some ways.

Julian

Us British don't use Johnson to mean Penis. That's more an American thing.

Tro Janors

Ahh the introduction of one of my favourite comedy characters ever

James Aston

Was waiting for that final scene of the bad thing 😂😂😂

Mark

They're both awful people, Mark is more responsible and Jez is a complete leech but they both do awful things. I always say between them they kinda make up a proper person that's why they need and depend on each other so much. I do respect that Mark essentially keeps Jez afloat when he doesn't have to, he never pays rent and contributes nothing. Without Mark Jez would be on the street or dead. But I don't think it's out of any nobility, he'd never admit it but Mark needs Jez as much as he needs him

Michael

Such a happy ending 😂

KMoz

Sorry to warn you guys but this episode is not the cringiest you will feel in the series 🤣🤣

Jaxon's Jerseys

You will adapt to the cringe, don’t worry. Johnson is one of the best recurring characters

Cem

Shabba!

Dan G, Leicester

Sorry Mike but you'll be seeing much more of Super Hans.. in a future episode he even gets his 🐍 out 😉

Dan G, Leicester

I never really watched peep show but because I like you guys thought i would give it a go. Im still not sure. 🤔. But your reactions are priceless xx Only put milk in forst when you making tea in a tea pot x that would be my rule x

Dawn

excellent episode.

Jamie

THAT was the bad thing

Jamie

Genuine 😂😂

Steve Cox

You always have to be the centre of attention don’t you Johnson

Erica

Ahahahahaha, just finished watching and I was not disappointed by the end reaction

Dandelion

Jeff was the guy at the very start of The Office who Brent got him a job as a forklift driver. He’s the guy who got made redundant at the end of season 1 who was going on about the difference between midgets, dwarves and elves. He’s also one of the best characters in Phoenix Nights when you get round to it ❤️

Emma Edwards

The smug scouser is the guy being sacked in the Office where they start talking about Dwarves.

Jimmy

Also milk first, shocking! Can’t believe I’ve never picked that up before

Frizz

Mike, the place you've seen Jeff is in The Office - he's the guy David hires at the start of series 1, and makes redundant by the end of it!

Dan G, Leicester

The mud makes me cringe every time

Austin GT

Love this show and love you guys! Best reactors out there :)

Frizz

So I'm also watching Peep Show for the first time. Having just seen this episode, this reaction is gonna be a good 'un!

Captain Cardboard

I'm finally here :-) Let's watch the epic cringe

Dandelion
