The Streets - Dry Your Eyes

Comments

This is a massive digression from The Streets, but check out Waterloo Sunset by The Kinks ๐Ÿ‘

Adam West

Please do another streets reaction

James

Mike's reaction to the Aerosmith comment cracked me up ๐Ÿ˜‚

Davey J

Please react to Blinded by the Lights next!

Dean Wintrip

OMG this tune came out when I just split from an Ex....... Yeah ....... this tune messed me up! Relatable isnt the word!

DJ Dan Adams

Original Pirate material is one of the best albums ever made.

Rob Green

Amazing

Col Boro

First time Iโ€™ve seen the video to this song. Framing and composition to those camera shots are beautiful

Dave Henshall

I don't like The Streets and really like them at the same time its a weird for me. I'm a true hip-hop fan so I really hate the awful rapping he does say compared to genius rappers like Chester P, Ramson Badbonez and Smellington Piff. But at the same time, the streets always deliver really good tunes

Demceez

My all time favourite Karaoke song, i absolutely love it, few people ever knew what the hell it was lol

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

The Patreon Home page has all the info Fred :)

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

There first album was there best origanl pirate material from then there was only a few decent tunes. Skinner done some decent colabs with the Mitchell brothers and kano.

Frankiefranks 1

Blinded by the lights is another absolute classic

THAT BALD ESSEX BLOKE

The Streets = Mike Skinner, who wrote the soundtrack to the first Inbetweeners movie, writing classics such as "No Problemo" and "Pussy Patrol" (not a joke).

DDDPPP

Jess, my nieces are really into k pop demon hunters atm and I agree that the soundtrack is actually quite good! ๐Ÿ™ˆ

Nicola

Most Streets songs are happy and upbeat; they are just a bunch of Stoners that started on Pirate Radio.

Danny Heywood

Fit but you know it remix would be interesting to see the reaction!

Simon Chamberlain

Kinell, alright, not the NME. Good album, wannit ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Si

What days of the week are the different shows

Fred bates

Never went to church next

stu

Or they're astounded that this tripe beat the Beatles, let alone the other options... Okay, he wrote nice words, but he can't sing, rap, and the chorus is appalling. If he was truly a great, he wouldn't have disappeared into obscurity so quickly

Jason

A Grand Don't Come For Free kind of tapped into the zeitgeist of post-millennium, pre-recession Britain, where the nineties afterglow/hangover had gone. The subject matter is mundane, the lyrics are intentionally inarticulate and the vocals slightly dissonant, all the samples came off a royalty-free sample CD, everything feels a bit uneasy; the whole record is the sound of post-cool Britannia where all the swagger and carefree innocence had finally dissipated and been replaced with a kind of malaise. It was to pop music what The Office and Peep Show were to comedy around the same era.

Charlie

I remember this song clearly. I was going through a break up at the time and my heart was broken. Since then though i have been with my partner for 23 years, have a nice home, good job and 2 beautiful children. Like the song says, Plenty more fish in the sea.

james mcloughlin

RegenerationNationTV just reacted my suggestion. I knew we were best friends!

Daniel Cooper-O'Reilly

The album this is from is still one of my all time favourites, absolute masterpiece.

Charlie Kemp

Agreed. That album (A Grand Donโ€™t Come For Free) hits almost as hard as Music For The Jilted Generation. But not quite as hard ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Duncan

Weirdly he's a family friend of ours. Mad watching him blow up.

Karlos

A Grand Don't Come For Free is a great storytelling album. The Streets have some much better songs than this, this is one of the few sad ones. Turn The Page is probably my favourite Streets song. Mike is like an urban poet. They have a few silly songs too (which they usually release as the singles).

Karlos

Seriously though this is a concept album I believe where you totally have to play the full album in order and all the songs lead on and pick up from other parts. Lights are blinding my eyes , is another song from these which many of us related to

Mark Rudd

Can you react to Sam fender , seventeen going under

Mark Rudd

Still hits hard as it did. I think every teenage boy played this after a breakup. I know I did many times ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Mark Rudd

Need to react to Jcb song by Nizlopi...

kris1976melo

Takes me back to being a hormonal teenager with lots of feels ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

Kaye G

Why are they uploading none full versions of their songs to their own YouTube channel and calling it the officla music video? It didn't say official music video, but it's missing a verse! I'm fumin ๐Ÿ˜ก

RegenerationNationTV

Such a great song. Never expected the negative comments on this one to be honest, but I guess some people like to make everyone else miserable, by shouting how much they hate things.

Jay

Does that one resonate with you from personal experience lol

William Stewart

I never really enjoyed The Streets - though Blinded by the Lights was an incredible tune.

Tim

Yea, not their best, worse than I remember.

BrizeeB

Who else votes for doing the rest of the songs on last weeks poll? That covers the next few weeks.

Julian

More streets

Dango247

The Streets became huge in the UK partly because he was a push back on the manufactered pop music that was everywhere at the time, his unconventional and unpolished style was like a breath of fresh air. Its a shame you didnt listen to "has it come to this" (original pirate material) first as it would give you a much better understanding how he blew up in the first place.

James Welsh

Blinded by the lights my fave,i saw them at reading festival years ago had the crowd going nuts had the crowd doing allsorts..

Tony Bremner

This is one of 11 songs from the album 'A Grand Don't Come For Free'. If you listen to the songs in order they tell a story. It's beautiful.

Megatron

Because people have opinions on things and have every right to give said opinions..

SpayMe

I was well up for the reaction and then I see the weird negativity in the comments and it puts me off. Why do people do this?

Jamie

I understand not being into them but people seem to actively hate them ๐Ÿคท

Brad Johnson

I did like some of The Streets, Original Pirate Material takes me back. Happened to see them live at T in The Park too. I was never a fan of this particular song though - but I do think it's representative of their work. As in the topics are style, but this one maybe isn't the best introduction to sell them. I haven't listened to them in donkey's years though.

Andy

loving all the crying in the comments. also never heard this version either

Alex Miller

Well technically you might of reacted to Mike Skinner the singer before as he wrote a lot of the music for the inbetweeners movie.

William Stewart

I guess this is the "Radio" edit or, maybe, the Top of The Pops family friendly version. Yes, I agree, the sudden tip into anger in that verse makes it even more real

Andy Oliver

Skinny Mike and the rest of The Streets. Great bunch of guys. I used to be a friend of a friend of the reserve drummer in the '70s. All gone now of course. RIP. I remember this video sparking a debate at the time, should dogs be allowed in cinemas (or should K9s be allowed in movie theaters as an American would say). Obvious to say now, of course they shouldn't, dirty disease carrying animals. I look back at this video and I'm thankful that dogs were legally barred from cinemas in 2006. Good work The Streets

Jeffrey44

Oof. Listening to stuff like this after a break up was rough as a teenager ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was the cliche song the friend group would send each other ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Freddie

There's a whole verse missing ?? Arguably the verse that makes this song.

Matthew O'Toole

If you enjoyed this song you'd likely love the whole album it came from in your own time/off camera - 'A Grand Don't Come for Free'

Sam Carr

I fucking love the album this was taken from, will never understand those who didn't like The Streets. Great reaction as always guys. Give the album a listen to in your own time, you will love it. Have a blessed day :)

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

It really does. Masterpiece

Mark

Thatโ€™s not the full version of the song guys ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

Dean

When you listen to the full album this song hits harder A Grand Don't Come For Free One of the best
