One thing I always feel when watching people react to Peep Show is the 90's in the UK was utterly despicable, recreational drug use was through the roof and sexual promiscuity was off the charts, it was a wonderful decade! 😁 And I always feel this show was a product of that debauched rave generation, so people like me who lived though it doesn't even flinch at any Peep Show scenario, but I get why others find it so awkward, I won't ruin it with any spoilers... but can't wait to see you deal with the next episode!!!! 🤣

Well, no. The biggest issue with ANY reaction content is the few people who don't enjoy the subject matter yet can't resist regurgitating the same tired, subjectivity-blind diatribe, rather than simply skipping the content they don't appreciate. Have a little grow up, mate. From someone who's neither a Peep Show nor an Inbetweeners fan, yet somehow manages to steer clear of spouting off in the comments about the people who are.

One of the things that makes Peep Show so great is the cringe, hopelessness of the protagonists and the private hidden thoughts but looking back these first three episodes over indulged a bit but I reckon from the next episode onwards things start to balance a lot more and the plot and character arcs, particularly Mark and Jez’s friendship (if you can call that haha) develop. Can’t wait for the next episode though. Bring on the Johnson! 😂

A bunch of people have probably already said, but yeah the first season is a little crusty. They still haven't figured out the best way to do the POV stuff and there are a lot of jokes that just don't land as they haven't quite nailed the humor yet either. There are also lots of weird experimental stuff (like Mark's flashback to asking Sophie out, that awful shot of Mark opening the medicine cabinet etc.) that are not present in the rest of the series. I think you will enjoy S2 much more, the entire first season feels like a pilot episode by comparison (or an amateur film student project).

There's a few mirror shots throughout series 1 (there was one in the first episode, for example) and they are badly composited. The show becomes much more refined as it continues across multiple series.

The scene with the medicine cabinet is weird. I was trying to figure out how they filmed the mirror shot. They’ve basically edited an image into the mirror, but the reflection is the wrong size, then when he opens the door the reflection is still there when it’s not facing him lol

In the first series the POV shots were filmed with the actors wearing helmet-mounted cameras. So for example, in Mark and Valerie's sex scene, they will have filmed it once with David Mitchell wearing a helmet, then again with the actress playing Valerie wearing a helmet. Just in case what you already witnessed in the show wasn't a weird enough mental image 😂

This first season is definitely interesting to go back to - while it does set the groundwork for the show, the filming style and some of the character stuff doesn't 100% line-up with the rest of the seasons.
