Taskmaster - S1E1 'Melon Buffet'

Comments

Hey guys, finally joined here thanks to Taskmaster <3 So glad you'e enjoying it so far, and it only gets better! Just a heads up (without spoiling anything), if Romesh's watermelon aftermath and Alex eating the toothpaste pie grossed you out, just be aware there's more of that sorta thing to come over the series. It's not that frequent but just so you know.

EuanTyumi

So glad you enjoyed this. I hope you try a few of the tasks yourself for us to see.

trev

Yes!

Kite8t3

Ye will have to do 2 of these a week. There are so many series of it

Brian Boru

There are some episodes that are out of this world diabolical, sometimes dumb, and then sometimes, so genius, your like wow ... fuck how they think of that ๐Ÿคฃ pure genius are comedians, unless it comes to cakes and bums(not this season) if you are watching every season, you are in for a wild ride

Dan Anderson

Tim Key is great. His stand-up is such a vibe as he has the most bizarre poems, but he also played a sidekick in one of the best British comedies of all time (for me at least), so I'm sure you'll get to see him there at some point. Also Taskmaster has some absolutely ingenious tasks, legendary moments and endearing contestants (some you'll enjoy getting to know and also some familiar faces you'll be very pleased to see). it's a great choice to be honest and you've got plenty of it to get through too!

Schpleeb

Great reaction as always guys. Thank you. With Taskmaster, it's not a show that i have ever watched when it was aired and still don't, and have only seen a couple of full seasons so i look forward to watching with you. The great thing is this a great way to see some of the comedians that are on other shows/clips that you will be reacting to in the future. :)

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

More cringe to come with a good few shows in the future too.

Fordy7169

We're your socks really that bad Mike?

Josh Read

You've got a perfect blend of comedy going on with your 3 new shows. Comedy to make u think with Taskmaster, Comedy with heart, storyline and heritage in OFAH and comedy to make you cringe in Peep show ๐Ÿ‘Œ

bdazzer85

Mike, frank skinner was apart of this classic anthem footballs coming home https://youtu.be/RJqimlFcJsM?si=jLriV9YUzqdVN2_d

zStarr

Frank Skinner has always been a favourite of mine

The Puzzler 99

It just gets better as the series and seasons go on

CONALL MCLAUGHLIN

Brilliant

david mitchell

One of the best stand ups, imo. Back in the day he was very quick and great off-the-cuff.

Craig Wright

The nursery rhyme rap ๐Ÿ˜…

Dan-C

You may bump into Tim Key at some point in the future๐Ÿซฃ And remember, Alex created this show, heโ€™s the one that comes up with the premises and tasks, and he got Greg to be the strong minded taskmaster. And Alex is from near me in Chesham so he and this show is a great bit of local pride for me

Sam Dilks

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

TheHigh

Tim is also in the upcoming the office (US) spinoff

steven bell

Love taskmaster. Most recent season had on off your talents on. Pimento from Brooklyn 99 (jason mantzoukas)

steven bell

I'm a huge fan of this show and have watched a lot of the series many times. I think/hope this is a series that you'll both really enjoy. I think it's one of the easiest to relate to of the more recent new series you're starting too. Enjoy!

Talman

Im commenting before Ive watched... But I am soooo happy you're doing taskmaster. You're gonna love it. It's one of the best comedies internationally in recent times. Can't wait to see how you get on :)

Simon Charlie

Me too. We all are. What's the big deal?

Jeffrey44

Such a great show, you're going to love it, Tim Key and Alex are best friends and Tim is in the credits after series on as task consultant, Alex is the actual creator of the show, it's his baby, he also has a great channel on YT called 'No More Jockeys' with Tim Key and another comedian called Mark Watson (who also appears on Taskmaster) where they play a game they devised over many years on the road whilst touring together.

Mark Jones

If you know somebody reliable to tell you the opening task where the contestants bring something in, then you can also play and we can judge you ๐Ÿ˜œ

Jaxon's Jerseys

Iโ€™ve just seen that Tim Key is in the US Office spin off The Paperโ€ฆ

Kieran B

Taskmaster is the best thing ever made.

Yoshua Simoleit

A pleasure to see you guys reacting to TM! Enjoy Greg Davies at his most belligerent. He softened in later series and got too pally, the show lost something for me when that happened!

Karl

Who is he in the best show ever?

Dandelion

Tim is in peep show way later on

zStarr

That first episode was brilliant thanks for the reaction guys xxx

Matt Draper

We have to stop meeting like this

TrickUpMySteve

absolutely buzzing about this one, one of my favourite shows! you guys are gonna have a blast !

Scottish Cal

Least theres ofah and still game to look forward too!

Theloyalmuppet

Not for me

Theloyalmuppet

Frank Skinner is an excellent comedian. I'd love to see you react to some of his stand up routines. I saw him live last year and he was brilliant.

ElvisLee

Very happy to see you have started both Taskmaster and Only Fools, gonna make for some great reactions!

Clowd

yessss, these are brilliant! the quality in tasks and cast drops off in the later seasons but the first 8 or so seasons are absolute gold! season 2 was always my favourite season.

ฮ” Tessellate

Or itโ€™s personal taste! ๐Ÿ˜ Itโ€™s a 20 series long award winning mega hit that has sold (and been remade) in territories all across the world! S1E1 is a 10 year old pilot on Dave, itโ€™s a bit creaky. They find their feet as they go.

Darrell Pringle

Tim Key is best mates with Alex Horne, and helps with coming up with tasks behind the scenes in later series. They did a series on YouTube during lockdown with Mark Watson called No More Jockeys - worth checking out!

Plum

As someone else said on here, Alex Horne developed it as a show at the Fringe in Edinburgh and I think I remember him saying on the Taskmaster podcast, that they filmed a proof of concept pilot, but that has never been aired. They all aired in Summer 2015, so I guess it is an error on IMDB form some reason. Unless there is some retro post production issue, so the date was changed in 2018? Odd though. ๐Ÿค”

Harry

Joe Thomas as well from Inbetweeners in Season 7.

Tim

Tim Key is a very funny man - you'll run into him on a few shows that have been recommended eventually. He made a film called The Ballad of Wallace Island which would make for a perfect movie night in the future.

Tim

This is now 20 seasons long with 2 (maybe 3) champion of champions editions. And the New Years celebrity specials. Youโ€™ve signed a long contract with Taskmaster my wonderful Floridian chums

Sam Dilks

5 minutes in....not feeling good about it. Might be the studio audience laughing on cue at things that really aren't funny(grape cutters)? Reminds me of the shows my parents watch. I'll give it 5 more. EDIT: Made it to 8 minutes. I think this is entertainment for old people and nothing wrong with that, they need entertainment too.

Dandelion

What an epic journey you have embarked upon. You'll meet some old friends, plenty of new ones and some that might lead you down all-new rabbit holes. TM can be a bit of a rollercoaster at times, occasionally a task doesn't quite click but, more often than not, it'll leave you wheezing for breath, your cheeks and ribs aching with laughter. What a ride!

Andy Oliver

I'm never actually watched this, just one of those 'I missed'. So cool, I'll watch it with you guys ๐Ÿ˜Š

Mark Tremaine

Fun Fact: I'm actually in the audience for this first episode.

Fandom Crusader

TM is a good way to get to know a lot of the comedians from over here, which you see most of them on the panel shows and tv shows etc. And know youโ€™s are going to love watching this show๐Ÿ˜x

Caroline

So glad you are doing all these. Love every series of these. They are all brilliant. Alex actually came up with the premise and thinks up the tasks himself.

Nadean Simmons

How many times must he pop da ballooon??๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜…

Caroline

Tim Key is one of the main guys who help create the tasks, series 1 is fun but it gets more better as the next 19 series goes on, there are one night specials called New Years Treat and after the first 5 series they do a 2 night show called Champions of Champions where the first 5 winners compete, its fun, hilarious and features many of your favourite uk comics, you can also get games and books to play at home with the family Top Show one of the best

Nathan Daly

Enjoy the ride guys ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Jay Lo

I cant wait to see what reception my personal highlight of this first series, namely Romesh's Tree Wizard, gets. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Another journey I can't wait to see pan out. As someone else said here, my Sub is guaranteed by what's been started this week. ๐Ÿ˜‚ (not that it wasn't anyway)

Simon Crockford

It brings me back to the first days of University where in the first weeks you are just "harassed" . Not sure if Britain or the US has this. I think in Britain it's called Freshers' Week (according to Google) But here it is just challenges, tasks and drinking - making the first month of studying a month of recuperation =D 30 years later I still wish I would be there and not here. Ah, the "joy" of getting old =)

Christopher Bergren

Alex used to do this at the Edinburgh Festival before it became a TV show, so quite a few of them have played the game in some form already - especially Tim; I think youโ€™ll enjoy this one

Kieran B

I hope you enjoy it, I know it'll be better as Mike & Jess are watching it with you. I absolutely love it and this was a paticularly fantastic cast/ series. I assume you commented before you watched it.... so.... What did you think? You'll never see the same task twice in any series, but after 1 episode you'll understand the premise, basically get 5 contestants and challenge them to do totally random, strange, sometimes ridiculous/ hilarious tasks and they're always competing with one another.

James Welsh

Sorry guys - new to this. Comment deleted as requested.

Harry

Mike remarked on this not feeling like the first episode. When looking on the ep-list on IMDB, it is weird. So Ep 1 was made 3 years after the rest of the episodes of season 1. Or IMDB got it wrong, no idea. Dates in the episode list below https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4934214/episodes/?season=1&ref_=tt_eps_sn_1

Christopher Bergren

Soo good

Nick T

Finally they watching TM

Nick T

Tim Key is in Peep Show much later on. Some funny moments.

Karlos

Very much agree, I think they deliberately mix the right types of personalities with good humour and different approaches to things that cause abrasion and comedy at the same time :D

Athan Immortal

Yessss!!! One of My favourite shows and my favourite reactors reacting to it :)

Frizz

So Tim Key co-wrote and starred in one of the best films from this year so far, "The Ballad of Wallis Island". I think you guys would like it a lot, even if you just watch it in your own time.

Ste Rawlings

Iโ€™ve been rewatching up to S16 and honestly there is gold all the way through. Some seasons might be slightly weaker than others, but when I got to 14/15/16 it was some of my favourite stuff.

Julian

Looking forward to this guys, I've heard very good things about TM but never seen it, hope it's as good as people say it is ๐Ÿคž

Billy

Every new season of this show they get the cast bang on in my opinion, even if you don't know who some of the panel are. Fyi this is Alex hornes/Tim keys concept.

Ian black

Tim Key will pop up much later as a regular in the Alan Partridge universe. And also is involved in writing the tasks throughout this whole show.

Julian

Never seen Taskmaster so looking forward to watching it with you guys. Thankyou friends xx

Matt Draper

Some highlights for you to look forward to. Bob Mortimer series 5 and James Acaster series 7.

Rachie

Tim Key is fantastic to be fair. His work with Steve Coogan is great.

Thomas Birch

I'm a huge taskmaster fan, v v happy you've started this, secured my subscription for years haha!

Karina Alderson

Nice spoiler, mate.

Keith Pratt

Harry

What do you have against using capital letters at the start of peoples names and why did Acaster escape your style?

Jeffrey44

The early seasons were brilliant, but some of the later seasons werent nearly as good, in fact, I dont even watch it anymore when I was a huge advocate for the show during the first dew seasons. Season 1 was easily in the top 3 for cast and and series overall ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

James Welsh

Oh wow, this was so funny and thank you for introducing me to something I never saw or heard of before. Greg is so amazing and it is so great to see people managing to break his stern facial postures into laughs EDIT: Just because of Greg Davies getting into my head as most hilarious comedian after John Cleese I am now downloading the entire series of Man Down as well. Waiting with downloading the 20 seasons of Taskmaster until I know you will or will not continue reacting to it =)

Christopher Bergren

Alex Horne the co-host actually invented Taskmaster. The main thing about the tasks isn't what the rules say you can't do it's what they don't say you can't do. Apologies if you caught that already, I watched the first task and have to rush out for the day.

Terrahawk

Oh wow, im happy with this, you'll like the bob mortimer seaosn and the james Acaster one

david mitchell

Brilliant intro there Mike, soon you will need to do comic reactions to your own performances =D

Christopher Bergren

Taskmaster is a great show with lots of comedians youโ€™ve already reacted to and some who youโ€™ll love to check out after you see them on here!!

AWR93

You don't know it yet, but this is the best the UK has to offer you for entertainment !!!

Lewis Wainwright

Given this show 1 chance before and didn't get into it. Might give it a whirl now once more with your guys :-)

Dandelion

I'm just so happy right now!

Athan Immortal

I love a melon buffet!
