Only Fools and Horses - S1E1 'Big Brother'

Comments

Only fools is the best!

Jack Green

Oh I forgot S1 had that weird diff theme music! You will love this as it goes on, it is a bit of a slow start and probably hard to relate to, but as it evolves down the years it becomes increasingly hilarious and heartwarming in equal measure. Stick with it, and don't miss the Christmas specials, guaranteed laughs and good vibes :-)

Christopher Mackay

just remember it started slow... 1st season almost cancelled...it gets better and better

kris1976melo

To remember about only fools and horses it's more then just a comedy ☺

DarkBlondeWatch

Don't know if someone has said already but James Buckley did Rock and Chips, a series where he played a young Del Boy

Sarah

Im glad your liking it as yes its funny but it gets so much better in later seasons x

Dawn

This show only gets better. Also, the theme tune changes into its much more well known tune.

ryan rysdale

Mammoth task, not to be confused with mammoth tusk, which are rare and valuable fossils.

Julian

Well done can't wait for more there is loads u will love it like everyone else has sed enjoy

Deano87

First negative comment I’ve seen out of the hundreds lol congrats mate

zStarr

It wasn't in felling Newcastle?

Jovan

Still don't understand all the votes for this show except nostalgia. I watched it all growing up and I watched it all through again about 10 years ago. It's not that amazing.

Kenneth Swan

The taller brother is called Dave

Ducactus

We need some double headers of OFAH.

Col

It's Harry and Marv in Home Alone.

sjay

That was the pilot show. Theme tune came later.

Paul Godwin

I’m so glad you guys enjoyed this first episode. Quite often, these shorts of shows don’t do well with American audiences - I think the jokes don’t always land. This is my favourite TV show of all time. I can wait to watch it all over again with you two.

Simon GrosvenorPoker

Jeremy renner more like.

Gary

Well worth watching the Jeremy Clarkson driving around in / constantly rolling a Reliant Robin. When I grew up in the 80’s you’d see them everywhere. There’s a few OFAH replicas knocking about. There’s one in my home town, I drove past it parked up when I was with my ex about 12 years ago. Stopped and got her to take a photo of me next to it. When I saw the photo and realised how much I looked like Rodney, I decided to revamp my wardrobe. I’ll post the photo in one of the chats if I can find it 😅

Paul Cole

As much as I'd love to see you guys react to every single one of the 82 episodes (OFAH is my GOAT) - every episode pre-1991 is a standalone story each episode (after S7 they moved to 2-part specials) meaning if it's too much of a mammoth task, you could react to 2-3 episodes per series. That way you can still see the characters develop and grow and new people come in etc

Craig Cook

OFAH is amazing and will make cry and laugh at the same time. The first few series will feel dated but they were filmed around 45 years ago. You will honestly grow to absolutely love the characters.

Darren W

almost ten years your elder and even this show was before my time, respect bro

Demceez

yeah but no OFAH fan and inbetweeners fan can watch that with dignity

Demceez

I agree 💯

Gerard McCartan

I think that Fletcher, Blackadder, Rigsby and Victor Meldrew belong with those heavyweights too.

ElvisLee

Maybe this needs its own chat channel!! Just so we can explain them all to Mike and Jess….. and explain….. don’t bother trying to work out what some of it means! Mange tout, mange tout.

Smokeymasters

the dynamic of the character building in this show is perfection, it really is one of our nationally treasured shows. Im 35, it was a generation before me but id class this as my 3rd best show of all time 100%. Oh yeah and this isnt important but yeah the credit scene beginning and end theme song is wrong, not sure why

Demceez

You’ll love this show and all the characters.. trigger will have you in stitches laughing at the stuff he says. It’s funny you say Rodney reminds you of Neil from inbetweeners, as in a prequel series called Rock & Chips James Buckley (jay) plays a young Del Boy. For me this is the greatest British comedy ever

craig jeffery

It became a bit of a beloved family sitcom, but really Only Fools and Horses was quite dark, especially early on. The country in 1981 was in pretty rough shape and London wasn't the hypergentrified "global city" it is today but rather seedy and run down, and full of wideboys like Del Boy. Far from being all cuddly and feelgood like it became by the end, OFAH for its first six or seven series was about people struggling their way through life in Thatcher's Britain.

Charlie

"Already catchy" - Don't get too attached to that title music, it's replaced soon 👀 And the apartment they're living in, is a council flat on a council estate. Government owned, low-rent housing. Still very common in the UK in 1981... I guess similar to "the projects"?

N

I thought this. But then evenings are long 🤣🤣

Jay Lo

ignore those that reckon OFAH only gets good after series 3, although after 3 the show becomes AMAZING, it's still definitely worth watching, I can act the show word for word but it's still hilarious

Jovan

They all good my favourite comedy show 🤣

Deano87

Can't wait for you to get into the Del Boy catch phrases. Plenty of other great characters to join the show, I'm already thinking of some now 😂

Alan Ridge

Jay from the inbetweeners (James buckley) played del in the prequel of OFAH called rock and chips :) haven’t read the comments incase anyone else has pointed this out!

Peaches

Get in💪

david mitchell

Don't think they had the reliant robin in America. It was a very popular van at the time because it was classed as a bike due to having 3 wheels so had reduced tax. They're shit and easy to roll over but they were cheap and had about 2 moving parts so easy to fix. I imagine the prices are astronomical now.

SomeBSName

You guys are legends for doing this. I'm 26, OFAH will never get old.

Keatan Forrest

I'm just watching another rerun of OFAH and I'm just starting episode 7 of season 2, a touch of glass and we ALL know how good that one is 😉

Jovan

Was so happy to see this this morning. I was at work with a bundle of mail in my hand and my phone with this reaction playing.

George-Allan Stephen

The very best comedy writing there’s ever been. All written by 1 man, John Sullivan. He’ll have to crying and dying with laugh from one minute to the next and as you pointed out it’s all very real with very relatable characters

Sam Dilks

Get ready for an absolute Hail Mary crash course in British/cockney slang and references. You thought clunge was a bit of an iconic catchphrase… 40 years later Brits still use terms like plonker, lovely jubbly, wally, dipstick, he who dares…

Sam Dilks

Crazy to do ALL episodes, just imo, if that's the case. I would /will watch it, especially for scenes with Trigger. Many / most other comedy series people seem to like I won't watch. (Inbetweeners though love Mitchell & Webb, Still Game (had never heard of it it but might have liked it, anything with R Gervais ugh, IT crowd though Ayoade is good etc etc) I came for Fawlty, panel shows and most stand ups and the best comedy sketch teams. I agree Taskmaster is awful. Thank God I'm not the only one. Best reactors ever.

Pomerau

You probably worked this out but Grandad was trying to play Checkers (Draughts in UK)

SM

Things like that change as the series progresses. There's a fair bit of retconning.

Keith Pratt

lot of cockney rhyming slang in this that will unfortunately go over their heads. this is undoubtedly the greatest sitcom in British history.

jamestoni

Saved me a comment.

James

Can’t wait for more of these, probably the best UK show of all time

Joseph Potter

Re The Theme Music for anyone asking.... The theme tune in this episode is the original theme tune when series 1 was broadcast in 1981. It spanned the entire series. John Sullivan and others disliked it from the beginning so from series 2 onward we got the beloved 'Only Fools and Horses' and 'Hookie Street' we all know and love and which John Sullivan performed. Ever since, series 1 has had the John Sullivan versions dubbed on for repeats, videos, dvds etc. However, sometimes ep 1 and ep 7 are broadcast with the original theme for whatever reason. Normal service should be resumed next episode 😄

Si

I don’t think you understand how Business works my friend. But it does mean you have something to watch every week for over a year. ✌🏼

Jue H

We have a channel in the UK that often introduces older shows with the statement "the following programme may contain outdated views and language". Early OFAH does a small amount, but people at that time did talk like that at the time (early 80s) and we shouldn't whitewash it. I think your reaction sums up why you are so popular with us in the UK - you get our humour so quickly. You'll not regret choosing this - as Jess says, it is full of heart. It gets even better as the show progresses. xxx

Carol

I hope they don't see you comment as you've given away some minor spoilers.

Keith Pratt

Mike asked about their age difference, Del had previously mentioned it when he was talking to Rodney. He said he was 13 when their Mom got pregnant with Rodney, and then Rodney was 6 when she died.

Cara

I love how you describe it as the district of Pekham. I will have to tell people that I was born and brought up in the district of Tottenham!!

Paul08031977

Does anyone else think Mike looks a bit like Del? 😂😂

Col

Best comedy show ever. John Sullivan (the writer) was an absolute genius. And thanks to watching this many times Del-boy has made me a fluent French speaker, Bonnet de douche!

Chris Duggan

That is the original theme by Ronnie Hazelhurst. The more famous one started with series 2; most versions I've seen of series 1 dub the second theme over it so it's interesting that they're watching the original versions.

David Cole

If you put up 1 ep a week of this you won’t finish until February 2027 maybe you should upload more than once a week haha

Russell Elliott

Why is the opening a different song ?

Dewhurst90

This is the GOAT of uk comedy. You are gonna go on an incredible ride

JUST be cool

This won a UK public poll in 2004 as the greatest sitcom ever. Won by a landslide. It's a national treasure. More popular and loved than the royal family. Gets better and better each series

makadeni123

you guys are in for a long journey with some of the best comedy you've ever seen. So many classic episodes to come.

BigUK Daz

And James Buckley plays Del-Boy in Rock & Chips... another inbetweeners link.

Callum McDermid

You have no idea what you're getting in to it's honestly something really special please stick with it the early seasons are more like 1 off stories but from series 4 it becomes more continuous in its stories, I'm so hyped for this great call guys well played

Tony Bremner

Brilliant

Alan Dennett

Thanks for the spoilers.

Jeffrey44

I second this, it can become a nightmare. I do also remember the muppet himself having some issues too.

Steve G

Only Fools and Horses has started, the first episode is just getting to know the characters, and from now on, the show takes off and getting funnier and funnier.

Allan Marshall

Keep a eye on the flat throughout the show, them being wheeler dealers a lot of things change

Nathan Daly

Well that's my patreon membership secured for the next 2 years. Well Played Mike and Jess..... well played 😆

bdazzer85

Funny to hear you compare Rodney to Neil in The Inbetweeners, because Neil is actually wearing an Only Fools and Horses t-shirt in the second episode.

ElvisLee

OMG! It's OFAH!

Tommy Ryan

OFAH friends ❤️

Stephen Littlewood

Mike and Jess, time to start learning London Cockney and French for Del Boy's sayings.

Fordy7169

Great reaction :) Others will probably know better than me, but please try to make sure you are watching unedited versions with the original music as the show progresses. I know King Boomer is aware of this if you need information on the best source material.

Deano_Deano

Yes spot on summary of the dynamics between them all.

Fordy7169

Love how after the first scene you paused to sum up what you thought and was pretty much spot on. Your in for a real treat with this show it’s just gets better and better

L M

Mike and Jess, the intro and outro music changes and are sung by the writer John Sullivan. Trigger, the chap who sold Del (short for Derek) the briefcases, will continue to call Rodney, 'Dave' as he's not the brightest shall we say. The Trotters' 3-wheel van is a Reliant Regal. They are living in a council flat in the real South London district of Peckham.

Fordy7169

My gra diathermy had a reliant robin, every summer 5 of us would pile in and go camping, good memories

Louise Miller

HOPE YOU SEE THIS COMMENT….So now I’m on my 3rd watch of this reaction today, I’d like to give you some insight and things to look out for. You’ll notice the flat always changes. Sofas, tables ,wall paper , carpets and props. This is intentional so you get that feeling of them wheeling and dealing (always selling what they own). You’ll probably notice things lying around that come in to later episodes sometimes. Del likes to act upper class because he wears suits and speaks a few French phrases (which you’ll notice he often says wrong or uses in the wrong manner). He often misunderstands English aswell 😆. The older episodes are incredible but only get better along the way. This is because the show was never expected to take off the way it did. The earlier rating were very low and the BBC decided to cut the program. Buttt, something that was meant to air on TV didn’t air. So OFAH got a chance to fill that slot instead. And the public were taken back by it and became invested in it. Then they had to make more episodes due to popular demand. The stories get better and muchhhh funnier. The budget gets bigger and some episodes get longer. They often talk about people that you never meet. And in later episodes those people start to get introduced. But don’t always take notice of the storyline from previous mentions. As it was difficult for them to write some characters in to the show as they mentioned them in the past as being dead or just a distance memory. And finally ? You will meet some new characters that you any think are the villain and someone you don’t take a liking to. But trust me, the more you see them, the more you demand for them. Making for some great episodes. The main cast start to settle in to their roles and that’s when you feel like they are a part of the family and you root for them. I like to compare a lot of things to the inbetweeners. At first you’re not sure who’s who and why they act the way they do. But soon enough you learn and grow with them and totally get it. Del will make you cry and laugh. Not a spoiler but, when the new main character finally appears (much later down the line) the show takes off and goes big! The laughs will have you awake for nights on end thinking about those situations 😆😆 anyway , so glad to see you laughing already and getting the comedy. Like king boomer says, one of the best shows he’s ever seen and over the last 6 years I’d say he’s watched everything and more

Mark Rudd

Yeh there’s quality dialogue throughout. I think it’s just because some of the early episodes have few characters involved, or just set in one location. It gives it a minimal low budget feel, but there’s still plenty to enjoy.

Julian

Make had this wholesome glow and vibe about him that I haven’t seen with any other reaction so far with this

zStarr

In the politest possible way, I would suggest that we don’t talk about spoilers.

Julian

Roll on to the Uncle Albert episodes 😂. My all time favourite ones are Damien being born and the Batman and Robin one😂

AngieG

you are in for a treat with this show. Can't wait for the opening theme music to change to what everyone in the UK recognises and knows what show has just come on. For info when the opening line to the theme tune comes on , the pony that they put in the pocket is slang for £25, if you hear a monkey mentioned, it is slang for £500. Every british family has a del boy in it or they know one.

Sibbo

You talk in Still Game about how you love it because it has moments of real drama and sadness, this show has so many of those moments too. My favourite sitcom of all time.

Anglan

I've seen plenty of this show for a person in their 20s and I can confidently say I never knew it had a different theme tune this early.

Zr0w3n

This is often referred to by many brits as the greatest british sitcom ever and one of the greatest british tv shows ever in general. Not to over-hype cos the first season in particular is definitely the show finding its footing, and when it aired it didn't do very well at all in the ratings, however this is one of those rare tv shows where every season is better than the last, not including the specials which are all classics.

James Waters

People say that this show takes a while to get going but these early episodes are some of my favourites. Barely a bad episode in the whole show.

Russell Thomas

Great writing for this .. gets beter and beter as this sitcom progress . Been voted best ever uk comedy Like most people seen these 100 times or more never gets old . Love how much you two Appreciate uk humour.... . Carnt wait for this

Dango247

Lol… I did not expect to hear the original theme music at the start. I bet there are many fans of OFAH who didn’t realise that little tune was in fact the original theme lol.

Sam Dilks

The Reliant Robin three wheeler was very famous back in the day. It became a cult after OFAH.

Nick Beer

So loved in the UK is this show that in my early 20s (2000) I lived in the Canary Islands (for Mike and Jess- Spanish islands popular hoilday destination with us lot!) and worked next door to a Only Fools and Horses bar... covered in memorabilia and playing non stop OFAH... was never empty 🤣

Gem Lou

Nick Beer

Literally grew up with this show, it's been with us all the time so great to see yourselves and wider audiences in general getting to discover it

Stuart Biegala

Noooo that went by so fast lol no doubt this will become mikes favourite show I’m certain

zStarr

Time doesn't have to pass at the same rate in the show as in the real world.

Megatron

We used it in our sales training at work. Del on a PowerPoint... on what NOT to do !

Gem Lou

An amazing reaction and what a lovely surprise too! First, Jess, "OFAH!" is absolutely fine! We often shorten it in writing to this so why not make it a word? 😃 So glad you warmed to the show so quickly. The first series (7 episodes) are decent, but trust me, it's a show that improves and expands dramatically as it goes on. It really does pay to stick with it. Del (or Del Boy) is short for Derek. His age is never explicitly stated but in this first episode, he mentions that Rodney was born 13 years after him. If Rodney is 23..... you do the math(s)! 😃 Rodney ages very slowly though and not in real time. 😂 He's 23 here in 1981, and only 24 in 1985. Series 6 starts in 1989 and he says hes only 26! Not sure why the ageing is so delayed. In real life, David Jason who plays Del is 41, and Nick Lyndhurst who plays Rodney is only 20. Definitely a father-son gap! The theme tune actually wasn't ready in time so the one you hear here is a temporary one.... I *think* it's ready by episode 2 though! Remember that every episode of this show, 64 to include feature length specials and spread over 22 years (with gaps in production) was written by one person. Just one - the genius John Sullivan. Really looking forward to watching along with you guys ! 🙏😃

Ash Jeffries

Yeah, it was the original theme tune, was only used in the first series apparently

Ollie

I’ll be enjoying both 😁

Julian

Great reaction!

Dave

CHEESEBURGER!

Si

Dunno if already mentioned but they live in a high rise flat in Peckham, London (Nelson Mandela House). https://shorturl.at/NwDIV

Derek Morris

whats going on with the theme tune? was this just the first season?

James Welsh

I grew up with this and my dad and I still watch it from time-to-time. Great reactions :)

Jamie

pay attention to the living room :) its as much a character as the rest of them. (with him being a wheeler and dealer he would sell the seat from under you)

steven bell

People are still referred to as "a bit of a Del Boy" when theyre a wheeler dealer in the UK.

James Thorley

It’s funny to think OFAH was almost cancelled but then went on to be our favourite comedy oat

zStarr

Superb guys, absolutely superb :) I loved that reaction, one of the best yet on the channel which is saying something considering how stellar the content on here is. I knew you guys would love this show, and I can't wait to see how you get on as we go further in. I particularly like how you both credited the writer (John Sullivan, a British comedy legend) for such wonderful character and world building in only 28 minutes. That's a gift that few writers have, but he nails it. You "know" these people almost immediately. It's a perfect opening.

James Forrest

As people have said, the first series was hit and miss. There are a few episodes in it that were poor in comparison to the rest. However there were more episodes in Series 1 that did get the viewers wanting more and thank god for that. This series just goes from strength to strength. I first watched these on a Sunday night when it aired in 1981 with my Mum and Dad aged 9 and grew up on it. As a kid I used to love it because there was always a plot and a funny twist. Obviously as I got older I started to get the dialogue and understand the humour a lot more. To be fair I would like you to just jump into series two but at least by watching series 1 you will be able to get more info and general direction of the Characters. Thanks for watching these guys X

Your Precious Prints

OFAH, friends!

Daz Parker

WOW, Mike and Jess I've just had a look at your upcoming schedule AND it's brilliant, I'm SO, SO, SO GLAD you're doing OFAH, I've never seen Peepshow so I'm looking well forward to seeing that too.

Jovan

lovely jubbly

mark

Amazing so glad yous are watching this :) I new yous would be the best reaction couple to understand the dynamic and the emotion behind the jokes everything I expected from you guys reacting to a cultural classic.

david s

Ofah never fails to cheer you up

Toby

The love the UK has for these charecters can not be understated, this show is not crude or rude it's about writing, charecters and great acting. It's about family and close friends, it's about life and reality. There's absolutely nothing in this show that offends me as nothing is spoken in this show that's hateful but I guarantee you will be watching edited cut version's as there's not many that own the true versions ( luckily I have the most uncut versions avaliable), for you I would recommend Itunes as they have the fullest digital versions as no edits to the music licence, I advise this because some episodes are missing as much as 2 minutes of footage and one episode well over 10 minutes later on due to the cheap BBC refusing to renew the music licenses and other poor editing decisions. There's millions of lines you won't understand and references but comedy is comedy and this is universal. Jess will probably get more than you Mike but hang in there and I'm sure she will help you out 😉.

Gary

I've been waiting for this for so long! Only Fools and Horses is one of my favourite shows ever. This needs to be at least an every other day upload.

Jack

Didn’t realise he was 21-years older in real life!

Jimmy

This was the pilot. The next episode should have the familiar theme tune.

David Smith

That's what I had reservations about, which is why I never selected it in the poll.

Paul08031977

It's the pilot original music.

Gary

You made my day Mike and Jess as I wasn't expecting you to watch this for a few weeks! You will absolutely love Only Fools & Horses and it gets better as time goes by and is King Boomers favourite thing he watched and he has covered Inbetweeners,Friday Night Dinner basically endless programmes.

SEAN

As far as I'm aware - though it's been many many years since I've seen it - the intro changes to the one everybody knows in season two, I think anyway. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Paul08031977

I worry it may be a bit too British and old-school for an American audience, not because you have to be super smart to get it but because there are a lot of references and old British terms even modern Brits struggle with. Hope you stick with it though because it’s hard not to love Delboy and Rodney.

Jimmy

Great reaction, good to see you both reacting to this. It gets even better every time especially the specials.

Central Hub

The finale is as moving as the The Office Christmas specials. I'll be in a care home by the time you get to it mind you. And I'm 32.

Static CentreHalf

It was the pilot theme and it is reused in episode 3 cash and curry during a scene. John sullivans musical masterpiece should kick off episode 2 😁

Jay Lo

I've said it before, but my three favourite comedy characters ever are Basil Fawlty, David Brent, and Del Boy Trotter. It has been a pleasure seeing you fall in love with the first two, and it's a great feeling knowing you're about to embark on the greatest journey ever, and complete the Holy Trinity of British comedy.

White Dwarf

As others have said, I haven't ever heard that opening theme to the show in my entire life. Im assuming its a pilot theme? hopefully its back to the classic theme next episode because that was weird

Inter Malager

This is the pilot episode, the normal theme starts on the next episode.

David Spittlehouse

What the... that is NOT the OFAH theme... Where did you find this copy?!

Fandom Crusader

exactly. They were popular due to being cheap and i believe could be driven on a motorbike license, keeping costs down. (correct me if im wrong on that).

Alec Vine

So glad you both enjoyed it. It was great that the two of you instantly got the dynamic of the three leads straight off the bat. Season 1 is a bit of a hit and miss season for many, with some good standout episodes (and a couple of ropey ones) but it’s with season 2 that the show really hits its stride. What is also good about this show is that some of the staple characters that you will grow to love aren’t all introduced in the 1st series, so you have so many more characters to look forward to. Everyone loves Trigger, and as a character he just gets better and better with the way he views life. Comparing him to Neil from “The Inbetweeners” is a slight to Neil, as Trigger is way more gormless than Neil ever was! My favourite character in OFAH (outside of the three leads) is Boysie. If you think Del Boy is a bit of a wheeler dealer, then you’re gonna love Boysie. Can’t wait for your next reaction to the next episode!

Andrew Roberts

Wait, I've never heard that intro music in my 46 years of life.

Alexander Munro

Glad you enjoyed the 1st episode Mike & Jess. There’s a channel here in the UK that shows episodes of OFAH on a regular basis. I’m looking forward in watching the episodes again with the reactions from both of you.

The Puzzler 99

What a very happy suprise this morning. To see how much you enjoyed it was great. Although dont get attached to that theme tune 🤣 and people tried to say peep show was better

Jay Lo

Words can’t describe how excited I am to see your reactions to this going forward. Some of the most moving scenes committed to film are in this show. And there’s also Trigger’s cousin Cyril #iykyk

Derek Fleming

The good thing is you seem already sold on the show and the dynamic between them, and it only gets better from here on out.

Tim

That is the original theme tune, the famous tune got added later

Andy O'Sullivan

The series/seasons ran for 22 years so you will see a change in styles and characters

Antony Green

your point on the short and tall dynamic is bang on. Mario and Luigi, pinky and the brain, Wren and Stimpy lol!

Alec Vine

Great reaction. I can’t wait to go on this journey with you.

Paul Archibald

The three wheeled van is a Reliant Robin! Very real, produced in the UK, and yes they do look very odd. Not very practical either imo, but they do have quite a massive cult following 😂😂 loads of people collect them, customise them and what not.

Jupiter

Brilliant!

Gem Lou

The series starts a little slow, but you will fall in love with all the characters eventually. Really glad you are doing this, and really looking forward to all the great shows coming up!

Smiffy

Whilst I know all the famous parts that have permeated British culture, I have never seen a single episode. Looking forward to giving it a go!

Captain Cardboard

The show starts off a little bit slow because they are developing the characters and the style but stay with it because it gets progressively funnier and funnier as you go through each series. This is without doubt my favourite comedy program of all time and is consistently voted in polls as the best British comedy program ever. Sir David Jason who plays Del is a British TV legend. In his early career he worked with the late great Ronnie Barker in Shows such as Open All Hours and Porridge.

Col

All written by one guy too - John Sullivan

Kieran B

Same here ❤️❤️ we have the same story and it is so great to see that we lived in Croatia/Germany and you and your lovely dad are from UK and this great show connected us with the same lovely story ❤️✌🏻😊

Josip Buretić

C’est Magnifique, Hooky Street…

Paul

Same here Louise my dad loves this show so much and I watched with him and then it was our favorite show ever...now that my dad is not longer with us ever time I watch this show I am right back at the good old days watching and smiling with my dad

Josip Buretić

Bain Marie…

Paul

Same here Simon I have so many great memories watching OFAH with my dad in Croatia and later when we moved to Germany when I was little bit older we have watched it again and now that my dad is unfortunately not longer with us 💔 this show will always be special to me

Trigger is the best 😁 and the running joke with calling Rodney "Dave" is hilarious 😂

Josip Buretić

Delboy french phrases are hilarious especially if you know a little bit French and you understand what he actually says 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Josip Buretić

They did, in this episode. 😂

Carl Houghton

Cannot wait to finish my breakfast with family and then chill with your reaction to my favorite sitcom ❤️...that was great reaction I loved that you are into it from the beginning. I love Grandad so much ❤️

Josip Buretić

Bear with it . 1st series takes a while to warm up but from series 2 it takes off

John Rivenell

Oh sweet I'm glad you liked that.. this'll be fun..

Joe Gilbert

A couple of things you’ll probably pick up on anyway. There’s a little bit of, let’s say, outdated language here and there. Delboy is convinced he can speak French. Some of the phrases are obvious nonsense, but bear in mind that in the uk most of us get taught a bit of French so we know the basics. I know in Florida you’re more likely exposed to Spanish than French.

Julian

There’s 13 years between the characters ages And 21 years between the actors ages Delboy = David Jason = currently 85 Rodney = Nicholas Lyndhurst = currently 64

Julian

unbeatable

Jack Veazey

It’s hard to overestimate what a British cultural institution this was, and still is

Kieran B

And Nicholas Lyndhurst, who plays Rodney, played his own dad!

Julian

This show is consistently great. There are some absolutely beautifully written episodes that tug on the heart strings all while being very funny and clever. Can't wait till the theme tune changes to the proper one. Keep doing what you're doing we really appreciate you❤️

Ian black

It's a running joke, trigger (the one that looks like a horse) always calls Rodney by Dave, nobody knows why though, as I've said you think Neil is dumb, MEET TRIGGER

Jovan

Finally you’ve got on to watching the best British comedy off all time 👏 please watch every episode you won’t be disappointed and it gets funnier

Taylor Thomas

This was a joy, thank you guys. So pleased you enjoyed it, as others have said it just gets better and better. Grandad was my favourite character, some of the dead pan lines he delivers are classics. John Sullivan who wrote it all was a genius and its one of the greatest TV shows ever. So pleased you enjoyed it :)

David Spittlehouse

Another running joke is that Trigger always calls Rodney "Dave". I think Trigger is more like Neil in The Inbetweeners rather than Rodney in terms of lack of intelligence , as Rodney , I would say is fairly intelligent imo and has some nous about him. Admittedly though he is tall and looks and sounds a bit gormless - lol. The actor who plays Rodney, (Nicholas Lyndhurst), is really well spoken/posh in real life. The same for the Uncle who comes to live with them in a later series. Buster Merry field was a retired bank manager when he was recruited for OFAH, and again, very well spoken. Talking of "posh", the actor who played Manuel in Fawlty Towers, (Andrew Sachs), was really well spoken in real life too. I'm rambling now, so I'll clear off now !! 😂😂😵‍💫

South Coast Rich

Brutal. 😅

Only Fools and Horses: A British Comedy Classic in the Making You're about to embark on one of the most iconic journeys in television history. Only Fools and Horses isn’t just a sitcom—it’s a rite of passage. As the episodes unfold, you’ll laugh, cry, and fall utterly in love with the unforgettable characters of Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad and the rest of the Peckham crew. The writing, courtesy of the genius John Sullivan, is masterful—layered, heartfelt and wickedly funny. The early episodes are just the beginning; once you’re in, you’ll be hooked for life. And yes—there's even an episode in the USA. This is truly British comedy at its finest. Luvvly jubbly.

Marc

It's slow to start with but it's building the characters, it's like a fine wine, it gets better with age, you both thought Neil was dumb, WAIT TIL YOU MEET TRIGGER

Jovan

In a way, this comes full circle, because years after Only Fools and Horses finished, they did a series that was set in their younger days and the main character, Del Boy, was played by a certain Mr. James Buckley. Like many others, I've been dying for you to react to this one, and now I'm wishing my life away because I can't wait for you to get to the stand-out episodes.

ElvisLee

OFAH was the kind of show where if I caught it I enjoyed it, but never enough to proactively seek it out. But now with your insightful, amusing and enthusiastic reactions, I intend going on the whole journey with you.T hanks to you, I'll probably now do the same on King Boomer's YouTube channel who reacted to every episode and special. Also, I enjoy Peep Show even more and I have watched every episode already but love you enjoying British stuff so I will be watching every episode of that that you react to too ! 👍👍x

South Coast Rich

What an amazing show this is. My favourite of all time. Your both gonna love it.

Simon Westerman

This was my dads absolute favourite show, he must have watched it hundreds of times and he always laughed, never got tired of it.

Louise Miller

Talking of the "storytelling of the room", watch out for the furniture constantly changing through time. The writer explained it was because Del would (and did) sell anything and everything if he needed to. Including their furniture. Little touches like that are what made this so special.

Simon Crockford

Don't give anything away. If they read this, they'll now be expecting something to happen in series three and may even guess exactly what, rather than it being a complete surprise and getting the full impact. I saw it happen on another reaction channel where someone completely ruined One Foot In The Grave because they couldn't keep it shut.

ElvisLee

Same, I can’t wait for them to hear the proper theme

Lauren Massey

it gets going by Series/Season 5

Dave Roberts

And sang by the creator of the show I believe. Because they couldn’t get chaz and Dave

Mark Rudd

Plus they’re front wheel drive are they not ?

Mark Rudd

Wasn't expecting this so soon!

Joshua

There's a great running gag in the series that every episode, their furniture is different because they always sell it. Great show, you will love it .

Michael Tong

Show just gets better and better

Dan Nokes

That's a Reliant Regal van and not enough power to do a wheelie!

Johnnyenglish

One of my favourite shows, It’s so nostalgic I used to watch this with my lovely dad on a Sunday afternoon 💜 You’re going to love this one, you’re going to need the tissues!

Lauren Massey

This intro is not the actual intro, I think it was just for S1. The actual intro is extremely iconic and miles better than this one.

Reece Fowler

Well said. Are you from Devizes, I went to school with a Mark Rudd.

Josh Read

Just finished the Office finale and then this pops up. Made my morning. It gets way better and you’ll need those tissues again. The journey has started 👍

Ominous

These morning uploads are doing wonders for my routine. Breakfast and a show. I like it.

Julian

You will see the characters evolve and settle in to their role. It does get absolutely amazing and like I’ve said and others say, you’ll laugh cry and love. Once you get familiar with who they are and what they’re about, you won’t wanna wait for the next episode. I’m still the same 30 years later 😆 so looking forward to this journey for you both. You are about to see some of the best British comedy ever and plot lines and stories are going to blow you away. You’ll be happy to know they do a episode in the USA 😎

Mark Rudd

Yes! You will love it. The writing is fantastic and only gets better, you will become massively attached to the characters I'm sure.

Alec Vine

Institution

Jason

I remember it really well. But totally forgot about it when it first started 😆

Mark Rudd

I’ll beat ya 😜

Mark Rudd

One down. Many more great episodes to come. Exciting times ahead

Jonathan Giles

I'm assuming you work for the "mirror" or some other form of "thing" like that...? only playin' if its what I'm thinking of afaik that's a rumor , a simple rumor with zero evidence to support it in any way what-so-ever. no records , nada. I'm no researcher or spy and could be wrong , but the last thing i would do is help by spreading the mere thought of stuff like this with no evidence :( just sayin... again , i don't know shit and could be wrong , but from the looks it it the same goes for any of them "news outlets" haha and if its just the one show comment , big deal.... peace

TheHigh

Thanks guys I absolutely love only fools! Probably the best British sitcom ever!! Let's gooooo!!

Matt Draper

I thought Mike added his own theme tune because of copyright lol

Michael

You nailed there characters after the five minutes 👏

Michael Oliver

Definitely one that gets better and better , the humour Definitely impacts our conversations, well anybody that grew up on it anyway

Christian Rolfe

Hello Josh. I know you from other reaction channels Do you worry that after The Office and Only Fools and Horses, these cats will be forever looking for that comedy high that they will never be able to achieve again?

Jeffrey44

Hope you both grow and fall in love with it as much as we did. Also, I hate to say this but you may not get really invested until season 3 😭 something happens and changes slightly and b my personal opinion it really starts to take off

Mark Rudd

I really hope you both stick with OFAH, I'm the biggest fan there is but even I sometimes struggle with the really early episodes..... honestly it just gets better and better! It's the classic UK sitcom......and wait until next week for the proper intro music!!

Matt Harwood

This was a great way to start the day 🙌 it gets better and better as it goes on. Expect laughter and tears 😢 OFAH friends

Josh Read

Draughts is checkers in the US

Amazing Futon

Del boys random wrong french phrases 🤣

Martin Close

Well, all my concerns about some of the comedy maybe being a bit of the time evaporated, I should have had more faith in Mike and Jess. They got it, and now I'm just looking forward to the long future we have with this series on the channel :)

Athan Immortal

You are in for such a ride, the writer John Sullivan was an absolute genius writer. You will grow to absolutely love the characters. I envy people who can watch this for the first time

Neil

My favourite show ever. Superb.

Paul Archibald

It doesn't really matter. Americans don't listen to theme tunes and these cats are no exception.

Jeffrey44

It’s a classic just watched my whole box set but I’m watching it again with you they definitely get better as they go to

Russell Elliott

I do not remember that theme tune!

Rachie

Going to be really awkward when they're only part way through and the allegations about DJ finally come out.

Hhh

Don't over analyse the characters just watch ,enjoy and get to know them! You're in for a real treat with OFAH 🤣

StuntChicken 007

Hearing the originally intended theme rather than the one they ultimately used throw me for a moment

Daniel

I honestly thought I'd skip OFAH having seen it loads and being team Peep Show but I'm sat here watching and loving it all over again - these reactions are like having a mate over and showing off something you're proud of and hoping they love it too.

na plz

Pre-emptive like from me for this. Mange-tout my friends.

Terrahawk

Never like OFAH, see if your reactions can change that

Neil M

I promise you, you will fall in love with the characters on this show. Let it get going for a little while, get to know them, don't over think Del too much and it will be a wonderful journey. Most of us watching with you have seen these time after time and there's a real reason we watch again and again ☺️ oh and the theme tune does change.. thank god

Gem Lou

What the hell is that theme tune

Caldo Vespa

Luvvly jubbly

Adam Theaker

They do change the theme tune to it in season 2 and its a lot better then this original one they had

Rob Jefferies

Nah nah nah nah... Na nananana

Athan Immortal

7am kicking off the morning with a reaction

sa

👍👍 hey a early OFAH start :) also Mike , can you just confirm that my message got back to you in direct? i was just wondering as it contained links and i don't know if patreon is cool with that , cheers 👍

TheHigh

Only Fools and Horses journey with Mike & Jess is going to be amazing! You know it makes sense 😉

AWR93

Lovely morning for it 😃
