Cunk on Britain Ep2 'The Empire Strikes Back'

Comments

If you are interested in the Battle of Trafalgar, there is an excellent visualisation video on YouTube by Epic History

Robert Carter

I used to watch Brushstrokes. Fondly x

Dawn

The guy you love is the one in the compilation that reassured Philomena by admitting "I love ABBA"

Billy

You might recognise the first name Charlie Brooker in the credits. Same chap who created Black Mirror.

James Thorley

A sort of quite accurate mockery of UK History...with experts laughing along...Brilliant...

Karl Devereux

Surely "A fork in it's crossroads" has to be worth a giggle.

Static CentreHalf

You'll see it even more with Ali G but people trying to be polite to an idiot is so funny, they are mostly just trying to come across well on the documentary so have to balance being nice with correcting her

Brad Johnson

Well you two, I hope you are taking all this on board and learning stuff! The "Brush Strokes" continuing gag is hilarious. I wish I knew why, but it just is. So just go with it. Clearly either Charlie or one of the other writers has some beef with it! (The sitcom itself was... alright, but no classic).

Phil Robinson

Phoenix nights is a show I’d love to see them react to at some point.

Matty M

There is a famous rhyme to help people remember the fates of Henry VIII's six wives, which is: "Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived." This rhyme outlines the fate of each wife, in order, after their marriage to Henry. The wives, in order, were: Catherine of Aragon: Divorced. Anne Boleyn: Beheaded. Jane Seymour: Died. Anne of Cleves: Divorced. Catherine Howard: Beheaded. Catherine Parr: Survived.

Andrew Roberts

There is no Cunk on America episode, but during ‘Cunk on Earth’ she talks about the US.

Julian

I've also never seen any of the Star Wars films, and at this stage, that's a good thing as it makes for an interesting talking point. 🤣

David Smith

Yeah, only 50% of his wives were called Catherine. 3/6 - Cunk on America is a great episode too if you can find it.

Karlos

Mike you've got a good ear, Cunk's accent is of the county of Lancashire, North-West England. She was born in the same town as Peter Kay, Farnworth. She's a couple of years younger than him, and he gave her her 1st TV role in his show Phoenix Nights.

Fordy7169

Henry the 8th's wives weren't actually all called Catherine lol. You need to take the Cunk with a pinch of salt.

Paul John Jeffs

There is something strange going on in Florida!

RegenerationNationTV

I've never watched a Star Wars film either, I've also never watched any Harry Potter or Marvel films. Also Henry VIII had 3 wives called Catherine. I was never i fan of Cunk when I first watched her on your channel but she has grown on me.

Rayne

Don’t worry Jess, I haven’t watched any Star Wars films at all. Well, I have a very vague memory from childhood of a film of some creature jumping out from behind a rock. I think it was an Ewok but who the hell knows!! I see a career change in my future. I’d make a fantastic movie critic 😂

Emma Edwards

Actually didn’t like this show when it aired but it’s 10x better watching it with you guys! Even though I don’t find it directly funny it’s your reaction that’s priceless, thanks as always 😊

Craig Jackson

Diane Morgan (Cunk) was on an episide of Would I lie to you. Very funny

makadeni123

I also only know about Sir Francis Drake is from the Uncharted games 😂

Jamie Johnson

I am very impressed by Mike recognising her accent as being the same as Peter Kay. They're both from Bolton (probably within 5-10 miles of each other growing up). You're really attuned to it!

Mike

Her & Peter Kay are both from Bolton

Inter Malager

Oh god, please don’t take any British history lessons from Cunk!! Henry VIII’s wives were not ALL called Catherine 😂

Emma Edwards

Uncharted club 👊

Josh Read

These are a great bouncing off point to look into historical events. I’m currently reading David Mitchell’s book about kings and queens.

Julian

Wait till you watch After life. Shes in that with Ricky Gervais.

Terry Cooper

Jess is right...Brush Strokes is referenced in every Cunk episode

John Laverty

Star wars is over rated. Jess you are not missing out on anything.

Josh Read

CAJACC is a sort-of-mnemonic to know them by. As long as you remember the most important Catherine and Anne came first, and the last Catherines' surnames are in alphabetical order (H and P)!

Captain Cardboard

I used to watch brushstrokes!

Rachie

Brush Strokes was in the last episode so you were right Jess

Kieran B

Yooo, you need to do some Star Wars reactions in the future now. Jess Star Wars movie night.

Jonoridge

Lets get Cunkin' 😃

TheHigh

That’s impressive Mike, she’s from Bolton the same as Peter Kay - and her first TV work was a brief appearance in his Phoenix Nights show after she wrote to Peter asking for work She used to have a double act with Joe Wilkinson too called Two Episodes of Mash

Kieran B

Kick back, relax and fry some brain cells with the one and only Mike.... I mean Cunk 🤪🤭🤪🤭

James Welsh

Cunk Content 😎😎👍👍 To me she will always be like a female Ali G 😆

James Welsh

Praise the Lord I was having a stressful evening and you will ease the pain before I go to sleep . Three of his wives were called Katherine / Catherine ,she was just milking it . There was also Anne, jane and Anne . 😃

Erica

Am I right in saying with you guys, king and queen boomer and killermcknight we have 3 lovely couples all from or living in Florida reacting to all these British shows? What a treat! Love you guys sincerely

Sam Dilks

3 Catherines, 2 Annes, and a Jane. No idea on the order they came, but divorced beheaded died divorced beheaded survived is the way the marriages ended

Toby Lewis

Okay, we need an Empire Strikes Back reaction!

Captain Cardboard

Thanks guys… 21.44pm here in the UK Will be a great pick me up 🇬🇧🤍🇺🇸✝️
