2025-07-17 21:52:48 +0000 UTCHe still looks youngish with dark hair in A Fish Called Wanda. I suggested earlier Jess might have seen him as Q in James Bond.

2025-07-11 14:34:10 +0000 UTCJust as a bit of explanation re. the blue coat thing for the rest of the world: Back in the 1950s (before holidays abroad became the norm) Brits flocked to what are known as Holiday Camps - kind of a cross between a gated community and Stalag 13 - where the camp hosts could be recognised by their brightly coloured blazers - Red for Butlins, Blue for Pontins and Yellow for Maplins*. Holiday camps were a great way for actors, singers and comedians to get their Equity card - Equity being the UK actor's union and without the "Card" finding work on stage or screen was nearly impossible. *If you understand this "Maplins" reference, congratulations, you are without doubt old and British - reward yourself by typing Paul Shane You've Lost That Loving Feeling into the YouTube search bar

2025-07-11 14:23:41 +0000 UTCLee Mack is the quickest wit in British comedy. He ALWAYS has the funny rebuttals and answers to everything, and he has the delivery to back it up to. This story is funny anyway, but his delivery and timing makes it perfect

2025-07-11 13:59:51 +0000 UTCMartin Clunes is the other guy...When I first watched him as a youngster I didn't like him because of his big ears for some reason but as I got older I liked his funny ears and he was funnily brilliant in Men Behaving badly.

2025-07-11 13:57:04 +0000 UTCJess may well be thinking of John Cleese as Q - the man with the gadgets - in the James Bond movies. He was at his funniest when he had terrible psychological demons to fight, before the comedy was therapised out of him, IMO.

2025-07-11 13:54:48 +0000 UTCMartin Clunes is the fella in the middle and he's been in some pretty great British comedies.
