I think it would be useful to add a chapter in which Ser Arys Oakheart reacts to Axel's antics. The author could use this to show his exasperation toward Axel falling to some of King Robert's hedonisms and hope at his otherwise honorable behavior. Also the author can establish who the four other Kingsguard who were added in The Trial to open up some more Viewpoint Characters. I figure the candidates would either be Crownlanders who were already in the capital, or a couple of the knights in Jon's retinue who traveled with him from the Vale. From the Vale you can use Ser Mychel Redfort, Ser Wallace Waynwood, or Ser Marwyn Belmore. From the Crownlands you can use Ser Justin Massey, Triston of Tally Hill, and Ser Lothor Brune. All of these guys are, I think, canon compliant with this fic.

2025-07-07 03:29:52 +0000 UTC...Old Gods and New, I absolutely love this version of Sansa. She's no wannabe-Southern songbird, she's a Northern bird of prey. Sansa for Queen! Though I still think that with as much as the Faith is behind Axel, he could talk them into allowing him to have multiple wives and support reforms to the royal succession. After all, the Baratheons are in a very delicate position for their future right now. After all, it's just Axel and Stannis, and each needs their own strong lines in order to have a strong line of succession both for the Iron Throne and for the Stormlands. And so far, Stannis just has a single, badly disfigured daughter for an heir. Now, let's say Sansa is the main Queen and her son is the heir to the throne, tying the North to the rest of the realm and completeing Robert's dream of joining the Stark and Baratheon lines. If Arianne had a son, then by having him raised by Stannis and becoming heir of the Stormlands Baratheons would secure their line as well as douse some of the tensions along the border between the Stormlands and Dorne. If Asha Greyjoy becomes a third wife and has a son, then they could push to have him become heir of the Iron Islands and finally bring them into line with the rest of the Seven Kingdoms. As Axel couldn't marry Margery or the Sand Snakes (as I assume at least one or two would get swept up into the harem), any children they had would be bastards unless Axel legitimized them, but even bastards could be useful; for instance sending them to the Faith or the Wall after they're grown in order to show the royal line's commitment to those organizations. And if he manages to get Dany, then that would be seen as a reconcilliation between the old dynasty and the new. Again the main thing would be making reforms for which child gets the throne so we don't have another Blackfyre Rebellion or Dance of Dragons.

Boy, learning that would make Mummy Cait's head asplode real nice...but good on Sansa for seeing an opportunity to utilize Margarey's scheme to be Axel's mistress for her own desires to land the Baratheon heir. Just need to keep the Lady Tyrell's expectations...measured so she doesn't decide to shoot for a last-minute upgrade from mistress/concubine to Queen and screw Sansa over.
