Lots to see in Gloucestershire (my home) as seen here...Gloucester itself, has the great cathedral, apart from the history, famous for Harry Potter stuff. Cheltenham or Gloucester probably a better base to explore the Cotswolds & surrounding areas, including Gloucester, Warwick, Malvern Hills, Stratford upon Avon, Bristol, Bath, South Wales etc etc. My favourite town in the UK? St Ives, in Cornwall....though an 8 hour drive from London. Great reaction...cheers.

2025-06-04 20:46:55 +0000 UTCUnfortunately Summer will be the busiest and most expensive time to visit. Do you know yet if it will be a shorter visit where you stay in or around London, or longer where you at least get to explore England?

2025-06-04 17:10:09 +0000 UTCI have lived in salisbury my whole life, i have a photo of my grandad holding onto the cross at the very top of the cathedral :)

2025-05-24 11:14:48 +0000 UTCAll Southern towns as it was really about day trips from London, but there so many beautiful villages and towns in Derbyshire and Northern England, Scotland, Wales etc. Even from Manchester it is only a 30 minute drive into the countryside and accidentally finding a beautiful village with the added appeal they aren't full of tourists.

2025-05-16 18:02:49 +0000 UTCI would add Wells to his list. Especially if you have ever watched the film Hot Fuzz. And if you haven’t watched it, why not? Watch it first and then go to Wells.

2025-05-14 17:46:55 +0000 UTCYou could throw a dart at the map and stumble across places like these in the UK, like you said, just visit and get yourselves lost :)

2025-05-02 22:00:25 +0000 UTCI would say that Exmoor, Dartmoor and much of the coastline of Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and west Somerset come close. All that coastline can be visited by walking the entire 630 mile long South West Coast Path/National Trail. Part of it crosses the whole stretch of coastline where Exmoor meets the sea in west Somerset and north Devon.

2025-05-02 15:21:23 +0000 UTCMan went as far North as The West Midlands and dipped lol. Hope he's got a Northern version of this video because that ain't it.

2025-05-02 11:32:10 +0000 UTCA large number of the places in this video are vastly overrated for what they are, Cambridge especially and certainly not “the most beautiful in England”. He would have been better off naming the video “tourist towns to visit from London”. The south of England has nothing on Yorkshire, the Lake District and Northumbria.

2025-05-02 10:44:19 +0000 UTCI'm from Glasgow, but live in Bristol now, come and see me! Or if I'm home in Glasgow when you're there I'll show you where the actor who plays Jack in Still Game lives, it's near my parents' house, could give you a tour round all the places Still Game was filmed too!

2025-05-01 21:31:51 +0000 UTCAgree with Christian Rolfe's comment. This video barely scratches the surface of the number of beautiful towns, villages and cities in England. It seems the OP just picked a few towns out of a hat, and stuck them in the video. While these are very good picks, there's so many other towns that are more beautiful than many featured in the video. And then you have the beautiful towns in Wales and Scotland also, so It's a rather rude amount of beauty in such a small place to be honest. Although to be fair, there are plenty of dumps in this country to counterbalance the beauty.

2025-05-01 18:44:52 +0000 UTCOne oddity he never mentioned was that there are two villages called Slaughter, lower and great slaughter. The oddity being that despite their names, in WW1 no man was killed from the vilage in the trenches, they all came home, almost unique in british towns and villages.

2025-05-01 18:40:12 +0000 UTCThe metal stuctures in the estuary off whitstable are sea forts built during WW2 later taken over for a pirate radio station, half of the older BBC radio presenters were DJ's on the pirate radio. On the roofs of the structures were big guns, The forts are in the process of being restored.

2025-05-01 18:18:09 +0000 UTCThat's a simplified version of history. Was also a big protestant reformation sweeping across England and the creation of the Anglican church was a attempt to marry the two so to speak. This schism also carried on throughout our history.

2025-05-01 17:52:48 +0000 UTCBare in mind this video is more of a 'off the beaten track towns that can be visited from London video'. There's plenty more interesting places all over England. Although England is size of a smallish u.s state and has good public transport generally even 2 weeks will barely be enough time to scratch the surface so choose your destinations wisely

2025-05-01 17:34:34 +0000 UTCFor Comparison the closest match is Oregon in Land mass, which has an area of about 98,379 square miles. It’s just slightly larger than the UK by about 4,750 square miles, yet the whole State of Oregon has a population of 4.2 Million, whereas the UK has a Population 69 Million in its 93,628 square miles.

2025-05-01 16:23:10 +0000 UTCThere are many Ruins of Abbys around the UK they were destroyed during the period known as the Dissolution of the Monasteries, which took place between 1536 and 1541 under the reign of King Henry VIII. Basically Henry VIII broke away from the Catholic Church after Pope Clement VII refused to annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon. This led to the formation of the Church of England, which was independent of Rome. So as most of the Abbys were part of the Catholic Church the dissolution often involved the destruction of abbey buildings, sale of their assets, and the displacement of monks and nuns. Some abbeys were left in ruins, while others were repurposed for secular use or fell into disrepair, win, win for Henry VIII as he stole all the wealth from the Rich Catholic Church and got to start his own Church and Divorce and Marry whoever he wanted.

2025-05-01 14:03:20 +0000 UTCreally nice shots in that video , enjoyed it. the whole of the USA is just under 36 times the size of the UK. also the UK has 70million people and the vast majority are in England (like 60~mil) you have to remember that's under 5 times less than the whole of the USA , its a lot of people , also the greater London area or met London ect has well over 15 million people as its a "Mega City" (any city with more than 10 million people , only 2 cities in the USA are mega cities , NY and LA) that's where you can feel the denseness (is that a word :P ?) i live 4 miles away from the most densely populated part of the entire UK , it imo never feels crazy overcrowded or anything , for example i think of crazy asian places with insane crowding everywhere when talking about stuff like that, its just nothing like that at all! anyyyyways , great reaction , cant wait for the day you guys get to visit 🤞👍🕊️

2025-05-01 13:44:15 +0000 UTCYes this was a South England-heavy (paricularly South-West) video the futhest north being Cambridge and Worcester. The idea of the video was highlifght some places within short travel distance from London but I wouldn't really do day trips to these. Best to set up camp(s) in an area for a few days and go back and forth to a few of them.

2025-05-01 13:44:05 +0000 UTCA lot of cities/metropolitan areas have 'green belt' areas around them where urbanization is not allowed. Well up 'til now anyway. You don't know what our marvellous governments and local councils have planned for the massive increase in population.

2025-05-01 13:40:14 +0000 UTCMike mentioned a one-month trip. In which case they need to spend a week in incredible London.

2025-05-01 12:47:07 +0000 UTCThe thing on top of the church spire is probably an obstruction warning (a light), they put them on top of tall buildings to help airplane pilots get a visual feeling for how low they are on the horizon in bad weather and light.

2025-05-01 11:47:26 +0000 UTCThe ‘little houses on the ocean front’ are beach huts. You can’t live in them (they are the size of a small garden shed) but regular beach goers rent them for the summer or buy them and use them to store their beach paraphernalia, maybe a small stove, kettles and utensils, surf boards etc. You can also sit inside if the weather suddenly turns. They aren’t cheap, around $2,000 for ten weeks rental in the summer at Bournemouth on the south coast. In a posh ‘bohemian’ resort such as Southwold in Suffolk on the east coast one sold outright for $300,000, which was what you would pay for a small home in a less posh town 20 minutes away.

2025-05-01 11:37:05 +0000 UTCMike and Jess, the castle shown fleetingly at 2.19 on the video is Windsor Castle. I spent a few of my teenage years living in Windsor, and could just see the castle’s Round Tower from my bedroom. The scene in the clip is the Long Walk, and it is where Harry and Meghan were driven after their wedding in Windsor. It’s also where me and my mates would hang out with French girls who visiting the nearby language schools in the summer. Elton John lives nearby and Slough, where The Office is set, is only a ten-minute drive away. It takes about 25 mins by train to get to Windsor from central London.
Thomas
2025-05-01 11:17:43 +0000 UTCI live next to Bradford on Avon, it is a lovely place, you wont need more than a day there though. Definitely a summer time place. I drive my trains along those tracks too.

2025-05-01 10:57:17 +0000 UTCThere are some great YouTube accounts by Americans about the UK. Well worth digging into as you plan your itin…itiner…itinerary. I would avoid Wolters World. Love and London is a brilliant channel run by an American lady in her 30s called Jess (now there’s a thing). She’s lived here for 12 years and recently became a UK citizen. The best compliment I can pay her is that her info is so reliable that I, a Londoner born and bred, sometimes use it when planning a day in the city. Her vids are extremely professional and engaging. Cost-saving tips galore, pub culture, how not to piss off Brits etc. Weplusthree is a family of five globetrotters who recently spent a week in London and made some great videos of their experiences. Manic husband chats a lot, but is great with his kids (aged 15, 12 and 6) and the serene wife planned everything down to where they had their coffee and at what time every day. Fun videos. They loved London! Daydreamers Barn. Military family based in rural eastern England for a few years. They post videos of their life here and endless road trips around England, Scotland and Wales. You’ll see lots of villages. Relaxed easy-going style.
Thomas
2025-05-01 10:03:32 +0000 UTCI understand, Mike & Jess, what you mean by "The closest we have to this is...." but one of the many reasons why I enjoy your reactions is I always have in mind that this is your heritage too. It's just that you live somewhere else now.

2025-05-01 09:52:32 +0000 UTCDo it! I’ll definitely chip in. We want you all to have the best experience.

2025-05-01 09:26:28 +0000 UTCWhat we don’t have that you do in the US is urban sprawl to the same extent. Zoning is also better too and much more mixed - and you get a very clear delineation between towns and the countryside. So you can walk a couple of miles outside of Sheffield (a massive, major industrial city) and be in the Peak District and not really be able to see the city or really have any idea it exists except for occasional glimpses from certain viewpoints

2025-05-01 09:04:56 +0000 UTCGuys, to help you with your finances to fund this, you could set up a go fund me page and ask your followers on all platforms to chip in if they can. We will also benefit from it, as we will see the content and your experiences from the trip and a lucky few might get to meet you, depending on Mike's itinerary 😁.

2025-05-01 08:44:48 +0000 UTCNorthern people, don’t get too worked up by this video just because it focuses on the south. He’s done shedloads of vids all over the UK, Europe and the World. I’m sure your time will come. Chill.

2025-05-01 07:50:54 +0000 UTCThe problem we have in the UK, is that none of these places are particularly special. We take so much for granted here that most of us barely notice any of it. This chap only just went a little further north than the Watford Gap. There are hundreds more places in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, Derbyshire, Northumbria, Cumbria, Scotland....

2025-05-01 07:35:33 +0000 UTCThe towers in the water were used as WW2 anti air platform and early warning systems. There's a fab video here where they're visited and explained in more detail - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y60iL-jMylQ&ab_channel=HistoryHit

2025-05-01 07:09:04 +0000 UTCOne of the most annoying things a tourist can do in England when visiting an ancient building is say ‘oh look, it’s straight out of Harry Potter’ and disregard 1,000 years of history in one sentence.

2025-05-01 07:08:57 +0000 UTCWhen you guys come to the UK 🇬🇧. PLZZ only stay in London 1 or 2 days 🙏. Get out to more smaller towns, Villages, & city's to get the real experience. 👍🫡❤️

2025-05-01 07:00:26 +0000 UTCThe Shambles in York is the main inspiration of Diagon Alley if you want to look that up - sadly it’s full of Harry Potter shops now because of it and has lost some of the charm it used to have

2025-05-01 06:47:19 +0000 UTCMike, you were referring to the Know Your Ally video when they put Britain inside Idaho. Same size, but (in the 40s) had 20 times the population. England is one of the most densely populated countries in Europe but also has vast open spaces. And you can walk through many of those fields, even on farmland, because we have legal right of way on designated footpaths that farmers are obliged to respect. They won’t shoot you!
