The Verve did not initially make any money from "Bitter Sweet Symphony". Due to a copyright dispute, they were forced to relinquish all publishing rights to the song, meaning Mick Jagger and Keith Richards received all royalties. However, in 2019, Jagger and Richards relinquished their rights back to Richard Ashcroft, granting him all future royalties.
