Watch the fastest ever 147 break by Ronnie O’Sullivan. It really is one of the most remarkable moments ever in sport. It should not be possible to do what he did that day. Snooker is known as “The Game of the Gods”, and Ronnie O’Sullivan is THE God of Snooker.

Think your dislike of football (soccer) is colouring your "historical" facts. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_football https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football First game of American football is considered to have taken place in 1869 and does not resemble the game of today. Games of football in England go back to Medieval times but are once again nothing like the game of today. Different varieties of football were played in public schools in the early 19th century and the rules were first codified with the establishment of the FA in 1863. The game that you are referring to in 1862 in the US is regarded as a precursor to American football in a similar vein to the public school games being a precursor to football going back to 1834.

The word "Soccer" actually originated in Britain. For a thousand years, we've had games where people kick a ball with their foot. There have been hundreds of these - the most violent being the Shrovetide Football game which has happened annually for over 300 years in Ashbourne where hundreds of people compete to kick the ball up or down the town. But in the 1800s, groups started to compose formalised rules. Rugby Football was the first, creating a codified set of rules in 1845 in the town of Rugby in England. We now call this just Rugby, although there are the two main branches of Rugby Union and Rugby League with differing rules. Meanwhile, in 1863, the Football Association was formed with their own set of rules. Due to how laziness works, speakers gradually shortened this over the years from "Association Rule Football", to "Assoc. Football", to "Soc. Football", "Soccer". And "Soccer" remained in common use in Britain until the early 1970s, when suddenly there was massive push-back because of Americans also calling it Soccer, so we just went back to calling it "Football". What you really don't want to point out to British football players is that American Football (1862) predates Soccer by a year. :) I'm British, but I disavow myself of the tribal indoctrination that Football brings about in my country, and is used to excuse violence and destruction because grown men can't cope with 11 illiterate man-babies failing to kick a ball slightly better than another 11 illiterate man-babies.

What's most amazing about Ronnie O'Sullivan's 147 world record of just shy of 6 minutes, is that at the other end of the spectrum the longest professional frame was over 2 hours long.
