2025-04-22 21:58:45 +0000 UTCi saw a chef tip years ago - if you don't cut through the root/base of an onion, then it doesn't 'bleed' and it won't secrete the stuff that makes you cry! and it works! never had the problem since! PS maybe i'm just way too high but that whole idea of an onion 'bleeding' fascinates me deeply. in recent years biologists have shown that plants/veg do all sorts of things like cry in pain, display emotions, etc. deep rabbit hole to all that but hahaha yeah i am just way too high. but no less it's a pro tip! don't cut or disturb the onion base and you'll never need goggles again

The Native tribes people used to use them to smear poison on their blow darts when they went hunting. They get their poison from eating poisonous insects. Their body secretes the poison through glands in their skin. The thing about enough to kill a thousand humans would be over their lifespan. Not all in one sitting. And they are found in the South American rain forest.
