Chris Carleton

Ricky is singing the actual lyrics to the actual track 'Handbags and Gladrags' over the end credits in this particular one.

Fordy7169

Ricky deserves all the praise he gets and i never get the people who are negative about him..yes I understand people have different tastes etc.. but not many comedians last longer than a couple of major standups then run out of material or ideas.. He has produced numerous series and they all different.. plus numerous standup gigs and anyone who has the balls to say it like it is at the golden globes and state facts.. aswell as his hate of animal cruelty plus all the money he gives to charity.. he is a legend imo.

Andy Gore

If you really fancy a laugh, look up Seona Dancing - they were Ricky’s very real early 80s New Romantic group! Yes, he really is a wannabe pop star!!

Paul08031977

David Brent is such a cool boss and yes the Staff are the most important part of the Business not the Customer. Yeah, my kind of boss. 😎👻🙈🙉🙊

New Fish

😂

AngieG

Haha yes you are, Brucey but we are all different with different tastes so each to their own 😊

Andy B

Totally agree with Blackadder. 1st series was bleurgh. Glad they made the rest because 2nd, 3rd and final are brilliant

Andy B

If you have Spotify - search for David Brent, Life on the Road. Sit back and enjoy the playlist!

John M Whalen

If you liked that song he played you've gotta hear this studio version he recorded with Noel Gallagher from Oasis! https://youtu.be/SKJXAIl8Kw4?feature=shared

Adam

When it first came out there was an office dvd extra with a full version of Free Love Freeway with Ricky and Noel Gallagher from Oasis doing backing vox 😂 https://youtu.be/2fzdZYlacJY

Adamchook

Same with Northern Irish notes here!

Mark McKeown

Nah

Mark McKeown

Although everyone’s recommending the film Life on the Road I’d strongly recommend not following the wiki links to avoid spoilers. You know it exists so please hold off looking into it until you’ve finished the series

Kieran B

Just hurry up and get back to still game and the inbetweeners 😭🙄🙄

Ricky

Kieran B

Super awkward! Smashin reaction

Theloyalmuppet

Would love some Extras reactions... Ricky, Steve and global A-listers like Bowie, Sam Jackson, Robert De Nero, Kate Winslet, and Barry from Eastenders.

Alan

Seconded, I’ve recommend it as well, it’s sublime

Kieran B

One of their songs was massive in the Philippines I believe and still has cult status

Kieran B

Ricky said recently on a podcast that working with Bowie, his ‘absolute hero’, was one of the best days of his life.

Thomas

Ricky was in a band in the 80s called Seona Dancing they only made a couple of songs but they weren't successful.

Adam 95

I’ve never been able to add to the playlists. I have some glitch with my YouTube profile caused when I switched PCs. I can’t comment on or even like videos without getting an error message. I can subscribe to channels, but, in truth, i rarely look at YouTube.

Thomas

I enjoyed the little celebration when Basil Fawlty was mentioned. Still a long road ahead in terms of high quality British comedy. Only Fools And Horses, the full Sacha Baron Cohen repertoire of Ali G/Borat/Bruno, the various eras of Alan Partridge and the many brilliant (apart from the first) series of Blackadder. Should keep you in reactions for a good few years.

Thomas

ricky gervais has lots of songs on youtube lol watch them. equality street is his best.

jamestoni

you need to watch the spin off after this. David Brent life on the road with his band forgone conclusion

jamestoni

Pretty sure Ricky was signed so he has had a musical career, clearly not a successful one.

Brendan

This episode was slightly amusing i guess, the music part was good. Still not a fan tho, i couldn't watch it again like i do with a lot of stuff but that's just me. Most certainly a minority lol.

Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)

I work as an engineer and many years ago I was out in the pub on a Friday lunchtime having a beer with my colleagues. The conversation turned to Glastonbury which was on that weekend. We were chatting about the various bands playing when one of my colleagues said, playing main stage at Glastobury is great. We all just stared at him but it turned out he was in the backing band for a relatively well known British artist. He left to become an engineer though because he said its fun being in a band, especially when you're young, but you can't have a normal life.

Graeme Frew

I don't see it mentioned but on the burning money, stamps, legal tender. Legal tender does not mean a bus driver has to accept it as payment. I say this as a Scot, as the usual joke is, our money down south often gets snubbed, and the joke is someone from Scotland will say it's legal tender. A shop or whatever doesn't have to accept anything if they don't want, likewise they could accept smarties as payment. Legal tender is a very specific debt repayment method and Scottish notes aren't even legal tender in Scotland, or English or Northern Irish notes... So no, you can't use stamps to pay for a bus ride unless that driver decides for some reason to accept them.

Andy

Yeah I tried to add it, actually added Just Looking too, but I've lost the rights to add. So I'd definitely say add it to the playlist at least.

Andy

It's a great series, but I suspect it isn't a great one to react to.

Andy

My favourite musical scene with Ricky Gervais in is the Bowie episode of extras. Watching Bowie humiliate Andy in song whilst Andy tries to look like he is happy about it is sublime.

Adam Ransom

Another Gem from David Brent - Was mentioned in the episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmTV62mE1PA

Jimmy Sandwiches

The song at the end while the titles were rolling is Handbags and Gladrags which is an old hit by a few different artists including Rod Stewart. It’s the music at the beginning of every episode 👍

Ianoo23

Hilarious 😂

Darren Steele

You guys *have* to watch the David Brent movie which is set years after the series ends.

Andrew Ross

My favourite David Brent song is Slough. I particularly love the lines… ‘And you know where you’re heading, It’s equidistant between London and Reading.’

Thomas

He also released a full album called David Brent Life on the Road - To accompany the David Brent Movie of the same name. Lady Gypsy is a great brent song!

Gerard McCartan

1. He recorded Freelove Freeway with Noel Gallagher in 2004, heres the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fzdZYlacJY

Gerard McCartan

100% this

Andy b

This episode reminds me of a supply teacher at school who came in when our normal teachers were sick. He was semi retired and we always managed to distract him by asking him random questions like his opinions on things. We never got any work done as he loved the attention like David Brent 🤣I nearly died at Gareth harmonising it was so funny I’ve not watched this for donkeys

Erica

Ricky has got a 20 song album on Spotify as the David Brent character... plus the music videos of "Lady Gypsy" and "Equality Street" on YouTube are great too

Kieran Hills

Some more musical Ricky for you: https://youtu.be/ABjYSxyUD98?si=RHL1l-lPZkb5Jqmn

Terrahawk

I forgot how much I love Gareth in this. McKenzie Crook is such a fantastic actor. He has an amazing show called Detectorists that I think you would both love as well. It's a bit of a cult British classic in its own right now.

Menty

Ricky Gervais does have a full CD as David Brent. Theres a couple of music videos aswell as guitar lesson tutorials on Ricky's YouTube

Danny

I heard Free Love Freeway or whatever it's called on a YouTube advert randomly

Sean Riley

I keep saying it, but we really need to see you react to Handbags and Gladrags (The Office theme), preferably the version by The Stereophonics. It’s an awesome song. Maybe you could make it a music reaction to mark the end of the first season. 🤞

Thomas

Ricky was serious about his music career in his 20s. He tried to model himself on David Bowie, Britain’s greatest-ever rock star. They became friends after Ricky achieved fame with The Office, and Bowie appeared in an episode of Extras, which was Ricky and Stephen’s next hit series. It’s by far my favourite episode of Extras.

Thomas

This is one if my favs... as a Trainer in the office environment for 18 years, it's actually spot on on how it can turn into madness... usually led by the teams manager!!

Gem Lou

GREAT reaction! I knew you would both love this one. I agree with Mike about Tim. He’s a fantastic character, and Martin Freeman’s acting is top notch.

Thomas

This is Monkey Alan https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BRU94BOCMAIo9Rl.jpg

Danny

Ironically Ricky Gervais did start his career in the music industry. He was in a band called Seona Dancing in the 80's. Here is a link to their song Bitter Heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDvYpOnN9Qk . I must warn you though, once watched you will never be able to look at Ricky in the same way.

Clem Fandango

'Take a walk down equality street' Classic Brent! but I think it would go down better after they finish the office and then the Brent movie if that comes around.

James

Ricky had a failed pop career, new wave band Seona Dancing

David Benge

You will get much more David Brent singing in the final Office product, the mockumentary 'David Brent: Life on the Road (2016)'

Duncan

Yes, he released an album and it is fucking hilarious - especially the song "don't make fun of the disableds". The album is called Life on the Road by David Brent and Foregone Conclusion.

Steve Small

Hey guys, David Brent mentioned about the Reggae song called equality street at the end of the episode..you can see the actual music video he made on YouTube. I think you'll love it!

Lee Williams

There's a film called "Life on the Road", It follows David Brent 15 years after the final episode of The Office. A film crew follows David Brent as he tries to start his music career. You guys should react to it when you've finished your The Office reactions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Brent:_Life_on_the_Road

Paul

Ricky Gervais tried to have a music career in his younger days.. he was trying to show off his musical talent. The Office movie (David Brent - Life on the Road) has a full soundtrack accompanying it. 'Lady Gypsy' & 'Equality Street' music videos are hilarious and should be considerations for a music reaction :)

Jon

Two lesbians. Sisters. I’m just watching.

Paul Sands

Hi Mike & Jess Great reaction again… Ricky Gervais did bring out an album called ‘Life on the Road’ to accompany the 2016 movie called ‘David Brent: Life on the Road’ Check out the following link - https://genius.com/amp/albums/David-brent/Life-on-the-road

Kingy

Theres a full version of Free Love Freeway you could maybe check out. It features Noel Gallagher of Oasis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbUl3CF81_c

Danny

There's a music video to watch after you've watched the two specials

PSIMgamer 86

In answer to your question about the music, David Brent's album 'Life On The Road' is available on all good streaming services!

Dan G, Leicester

Is that with new camera settings?

Stephen

Smashin one of the most cringiest episodes to watch tonight ! Cant wait to see yous both cringe!😂😂

Theloyalmuppet

Fantastic ep, cringe rating is off the chart

Mark McKeown

Favourite episode of the first season.
