2025-04-08 23:24:53 +0000 UTCActually I could probably work for David Brent as my boss. Some bosses are real tyrants. He's pretty lay back. I would get used to his humour and personality. The Outtakes are really funny too. 👻https://youtu.be/qjuc3vqudwg?si=dtCskl3kPBKMizvf

2025-03-20 10:59:13 +0000 UTCMay want to add this to the Office UK playlist to allow people to find easily.

2025-03-19 11:51:43 +0000 UTCYep, think he’s the only character so clearly narcissistic, sexist, slightly racist, (but done from more an ignorant angle), and one people instantly don’t like, but somehow still manages to have people on his side wanting it to work out for him by the end.😕 Pure genius writing😁👌🏼x

2025-03-15 22:21:45 +0000 UTCJays dad from Inbetweeners in the warehouse playing exactly the same character!!

2025-03-15 19:07:56 +0000 UTCBritish humour is always cringe humour, Brent, fawlty. There’s a great speech about this by Stephen fry. British humour is always the worst part of yourself whereas American humour is gag based. You guys would love Stephen fry he’s a genius and also an amazing humorist, actor and author. He speaks about British cringe vrs American gag humour.

2025-03-13 02:00:57 +0000 UTCI wasn't sure with that one if he meant a person or the TV show with the same name

2025-03-12 13:43:19 +0000 UTCthere's a cool story gervais and merchant told on the "people not knowing its a comedy" thing. they overheard two women on a train saying, "did you see that show the office? it's really funny" and the other woman said, "oh they're actors, it's not real" - to which the first woman replied - "oh...well...it's not really all that funny then i guess..." lol
James West
2025-03-12 12:48:00 +0000 UTCRicky Gervais actually went to the same school and knew the writers of The Inbetweeners (Damon Beesley and Iain Morris) and himself said they'd all take the piss out of wachother like how they do in The Inbetweeners In fact, in Ricky's other show "Extras" - he had 2 overtly gay characters on the show be named Damon Beesley and Iain Morris as a joke at their expense So it's kinda cool that you're going through The Inbetweeners and loads of Ricky shows simultaneously
Kieran Hills
2025-03-12 09:08:33 +0000 UTCAbsolutely, and that’s the type of documentary that the Office was specifically parodying according to Ricky and Stephen

2025-03-12 07:48:07 +0000 UTCAnd the brilliant John Sessions

2025-03-12 07:46:16 +0000 UTCSlough, where The Office is based, became heavily industrialised after WWI, and this didn’t please one of our most famous poets, Sir John Betjeman, who wrote a poem entitled Slough in 1937 (obviously not knowing that Hitler was preparing to do his thing). Here are the first two verses… Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough! It isn't fit for humans now, There isn't grass to graze a cow. Swarm over, Death! Come, bombs and blow to smithereens Those air -conditioned, bright canteens, Tinned fruit, tinned meat, tinned milk, tinned beans, Tinned minds, tinned breath.

2025-03-12 00:35:10 +0000 UTCExcellent!
Theloyalmuppet
2025-03-12 00:21:25 +0000 UTCPeople were confused by the first episode of The Office because there had been a number of popular fly-on-the-wall documentary series in the UK for years before Gervais came up with the idea. Also none of the stars were household names. Two early docu-soaps that spring to mind are The Family, featuring a family in Reading, Gervais’ home town, and Airport, which was long-running, and based at Heathrow, the UK’s busiest airport.

2025-03-11 23:37:32 +0000 UTCYou guys have to check out Peep Show. You will love it

2025-03-11 22:44:01 +0000 UTCGreat shout, these guys will love Peep Show
Richiep
2025-03-11 22:43:14 +0000 UTCWhen David comes up with the surname Anderton for the person he's supposedly made redundant, this is a reference to Sophie Anderton, a British glamour/lingerie model from the late 90s / early 00s.. which gives us a little insight into David's mind!

2025-03-11 22:38:39 +0000 UTCReminds me so much if the office I first worked in back in the 90’s. Office environments are so sterile now it seems to me, even more so since Covid and the introduction of MS Teams
Aaron Page
2025-03-11 22:05:54 +0000 UTCKeith is my favourite character in The Office. I’ve worked with a lot of Keiths. The actor who played him died last year.
Thomas
2025-03-11 21:54:32 +0000 UTCYou guys keep missing the end! Let the credits roll on
CONALL MCLAUGHLIN
2025-03-11 20:34:31 +0000 UTCDavid is a narcissist but you just cant not like him
Paul Finn
2025-03-11 20:33:29 +0000 UTCRicky did actually work in an office for a while before he went into radio then writing and so on. Pretty sure I've heard him say in an interview before that David Brent was a real person. With the american office I don't believe any of the character could be real. I've worked with people just like Brent and I know loads of people who have as well.

2025-03-11 19:56:30 +0000 UTCCity Boys throwback? 😂

Kieran B
2025-03-11 17:33:47 +0000 UTCWith Jess loving the cringe worthy stuff so much you need to check out Alan Partridge. Steve Coogan's character is on par with Gervais' David Brent for hiding behind your hands as you watch.
Jamie Macdonald
2025-03-11 17:21:45 +0000 UTCStay tuned after the credits, there are a lot of UK shows that have a little scene after or during credits
Ianoo23
2025-03-11 17:21:45 +0000 UTCCant wait for this one later😊

2025-03-11 17:11:00 +0000 UTCYou said it my friend.

2025-03-11 17:01:42 +0000 UTCThe 3 people Ricky named were Spike Milligan, John Cleese and Kenny Everett. All comedians
Danny
2025-03-11 15:59:48 +0000 UTCYou keep missing the last scene after the credits.
Jay C
2025-03-11 15:58:46 +0000 UTCI highly suspect that those 2 YouTube episodes are geolocked to not show in the UK. Near impossible to put full episodes of big BBC shows on YouTube. Probably best just buying the digital version of the series, you know itd be good quality and not edited or anything then
Danny
2025-03-11 15:47:20 +0000 UTCA few here didn’t watch to the end 😁
Silk
2025-03-11 15:38:20 +0000 UTCI mean, i am enjoying watching you guys watching it, (i only seen bits here and there when it was on), but i just don't find it that funny. Your infectious joy and laughter is what will keep me watching this :)
Brucey Mitchell (Cheeky)
2025-03-11 15:35:08 +0000 UTCAfter this and the Inbetweeners I’m certain you’ll both love Peep Show based on how much you’re enjoying them
Kieran B
2025-03-11 15:29:36 +0000 UTCDon’t miss the after credit scenes!
Kieran B
2025-03-11 15:28:30 +0000 UTCI just realised Glynn/Taffy is the same actor who played Jay’s dad in Inbetweeners . I obviously typed that before you realised at the end 🫣🤣
Erica
2025-03-11 15:10:17 +0000 UTCJays dad in the warehouse

2025-03-11 15:10:07 +0000 UTCOh god it’s set in 2001 (if you want to feel old, the year before I was born)
Divinerights
2025-03-11 15:04:16 +0000 UTCThat’s the thing, it’s not even a that weird of an office really, that’s why it’s so relatable - this is exactly what offices were like in the UK in the late 90s and very early 2000s, which is why some thought it was real. You should see some of the real documentaries this was parodying at the time…
Kieran B
2025-03-11 15:01:08 +0000 UTC👍👍👍

2025-03-11 14:47:01 +0000 UTCYou know one Cleese, John Cleese (Basil from Fawlty Towers
Josef Hammond
2025-03-11 14:40:03 +0000 UTCDid they not recognise Jay's Dad? Almost plays the same character.
Jason
2025-03-11 14:37:21 +0000 UTCGuys, there is always a little scene at the end of the credits, you should let them play out. @Terrahawk @Aye Ready, I knew I had seen him but couldn't place him!
Andrew PC
2025-03-11 14:37:10 +0000 UTCThe guy in the warehouse is the same actor who plays Jay's dad in Inbetweeners
Aye Ready
2025-03-11 14:32:10 +0000 UTCGlynn aka Taffy in the warehouse is Jay’s dad from The Inbetweeners. Apparently he was born in Albuquerque.
