So to avoid triggering or undo failsafe, it require absolute authority, which cannot be done in Republic due to division of power. Good circumstance for Vader to exploit to become Emperor himself and make Padme to agree on establishing Empire. Once he is in power, he can use Vong as convinent excuse to stay in power and military build up.

2025-06-11 23:27:10 +0000 UTCCurrently my favorite of the ongoing stories! I wish this was the one updating daily. I voted for option two, but option one makes sense, too. This darker universe reminds me of the standard trope for making a villain the hero—pit them against someone even worse.
