First up on the poll is Ren – Hi Ren. Some of you might remember that we reacted to this song and Tale of Jenny and Screech over a year ago. At the time, we made the decision to delete those reactions due to the backlash we received over how we censored the harsh language in Tale of Jenny and Screech.
Looking back, if we were reacting for the first time now, I would handle it differently. We continue to get daily requests for this, and while we’re still not sure the best way to approach it, it feels like it’s time to give it another shot.

Bowie remains one of my favourite musical talents - a creative maverick like some of my friends (and, dare I say it, me 😜) who was a big admirer of a famous former girlfriend and artistic collaborator of mine. "Under Pressure" was truly dreadful though. Even though it's not true to the original, I particularly like his live performance of "Heroes" later in his career (I forget which tour, but will check if it is on the music list). With a little background to its meaning and when the original was written, for Mike and Jess to properly understand and appreciate it, it becomes such a moving song too. It always makes me imagine the young couples who died trying to escape to freedom across the Berlin Wall and genuinely sends shivers down my spine when it gets to the chorus.

2025-02-10 18:18:10 +0000 UTCCould do with less of rock fossils Led Zeppelin. They seem to keep showing up despite being declared as dinosaurs by swathes of British youth in the late 70s. Incredible, also, that a great artist such as David Bowie has only appeared in one poll so far, and that was for the appalling Under Pressure with Queen, when he has the most innovative catalogue of material by any British artist.
