Billy Connolly - Terrorist Attack At Glasgow Airport
Added 2025-02-10 15:00:17 +0000 UTCAl Murray VS Americans won the poll, but it turns out that we reacted to this 7 months ago 😅 https://youtu.be/2qjzg43WY80?si=PgBPZrySdaXik3_W
That's on me for not picking up on that before the poll. So we went with second place.

2025-02-14 15:34:36 +0000 UTCNever expected to be subscribed longer than a month. After all the Scottish content and seeing how much Mike and Jess just naturally understand and laugh with the Scottish patter, I can’t see myself ever going back. Mike and Jess, if ever you fancy a big vacation, should get a wee trip to Scotland🏴 Place is full of these characters 🤣 and you guys would be welcomed with open arms

2025-02-11 21:29:55 +0000 UTCThe reference to terrorists coming to Glasgow without a football team, is regarding the Glasgow Rangers and Celtic rivalry. Celtic associated with Catholics and Rangers protestant. And... There's been a long history of trouble between the two. So much so they parts of Glasgow can't use the colours of the teams, Celtic is green and Rangers blue. So stuff you might find fully like Subway, the sandwich shop. Their sign is mostly green... Not in parts of Glasgow, it's black. One example (https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/scottish-town-where-green-is-beyond-the-pale-981747.html) I can't do it justice here obviously so I won't try. The story Billy is talking about is true though and I don't think I'll ever forget the headline. The Daily Record paper had "I kicked burning terrorist in the balls so hard, I tore a tendon in my foot".

2025-02-10 20:41:18 +0000 UTCDoes anyone know what happened to a previous poll winner ''Karl Pilkington Made to Watch Brokeback Mountain''? Did this Billy Connolly video replace that for Monday's poll winner,or am just jumping the gun and that Karl Pilkington Made to Watch Brokeback Mountain will be for next Monday

2025-02-10 18:57:53 +0000 UTCI was thinking you'd done most of the popular Al Murray clips, so I voted for this. Happy days.

2025-02-10 16:53:27 +0000 UTCBilly Connolly is guaranteed to have you in tears of laughter. One of the greatest comedians ever to grace the stage. I was laughing at you guys laughing. Another great reaction Jess & Mike. Best wishes

2025-02-10 16:22:59 +0000 UTCThe Big 'Yin. Our greatest comedic export. Please check out more of his stuff. Sadly Billy isn't too well these days and has given up the stage for a quieter life, but his material is pretty much immortal. I was living in Glasgow when the 2007 Airport Attack happened. The mood in the city was a beautiful see-saw between (justified) proud brave defiance and finding the whole thing utterly hilarious. Glasgow is a fantastic city (I'm not a native Glaswegian myself, Scottish Borders boy, but my Mum is). It's a rough and tumble place where you have to know how to carry yourself, and there are pockets of it which have the most tragic economic deprivation . . . but it's artistically wonderful, historically fascinating, culturally epic and, in the right light, utterly beautiful. You will never meet a pack of friendlier, kinder, harder people. That's the dichotomy. I know you guys are enjoying "Still Game" at the moment, and there's so much of Glasgow's feeling (and the wider Scottish philosophy) in that show that I can't wait to see what else you make of it.

2025-02-10 15:47:50 +0000 UTCThe line Mike and Jess picked up about seeing something that makes you proud of the place you come from is so true. Best example in recent times was the spontaneous singing of the Oasis song Don’t Look Back In Anger during a vigil after the 2017 bombing at the Manchester Arena in which 22 people attending an Ariana Grande concert were killed. I’m not from Manchester (I’m a Londoner) but I saw it live on TV and the reaction filled me with teary pride. Here is a clip of Oasis’s Noel Gallagher talking about watching this reaction live on TV and how it affected him. It’s really powerful. It became the song of that summer and was belted at in stadiums across the land. https://youtu.be/K9SzicGVPTc?si=7glywRv01tQfq3VI

2025-02-10 15:44:28 +0000 UTCMood Bracelets and Political Correctness are hilarious, hopefully get around to them soon, i did put a couple on the list. Very much a true story this one. Billy is the nicest man, was lucky enough to meet him on two different occasions when he was touring Scotland. If you could find any of his full shows to buy online i would highly recommend it for watching in your own time, i have been unable to breathe from laughing so hard many times. Great reaction, good to see laughter as a medicine for you guys too :)

2025-02-10 15:35:53 +0000 UTCI'm really looking forward to watching this, Mike and Jess! He was one of the first comics to make observational standup humour a big thing, I believe. I'm so glad you're reacting to someone you don't often do so to, plus it will keep our Scottish brethren happy, which is always a good thing, firstly because they're generally very lovely people but secondly because they are also generally a bit scary and might come and head-butt us if we piss them off! 😛🫣
