Let's Talk - The Inbetweeners Season 1

Comments

They could absolutely have made a brilliant US version of this. Look at the US office. They just didn't. They re-wrote the UK script without understanding where any of the comedy came from.

Mat

Do you know they made 2 movies after the series hopefully you get around to reacting to them aswell

Craig Burns

There are YouTube videos explaining how bad the US version was and why.

The Inbetweeners has had a massive cultural impact in the UK, spawning countless memes, quotes, and references that are still widely used today. Jay’s exaggerated stories, his love of music, and his over-the-top bravado have made him one of the most quotable characters in British TV history. Lines like “Completed it, mate” and “Bus wankers” are still iconic. James Buckley, who played Jay, has found success beyond the show, particularly on YouTube and Twitch, where he interacts with fans through gaming and live streaming. His "At Home with the Buckleys" channel and Twitch presence have kept his popularity strong. His personal life, including his marriage to Scottish former model Clair Meek, has also been of interest to fans. Meanwhile, the soundtrack of The Inbetweeners is another nostalgic element for many viewers, featuring indie and alternative classics that perfectly captured the late 2000s British teen experience. James Buckley has always had a strong love for music, particularly the indie and alternative rock scene. This passion was reflected in The Inbetweeners, where his character Jay often boasted about music knowledge and experiences (even if exaggerated). Buckley himself is a talented guitarist and has spoken about his admiration for bands like Oasis, The Stone Roses, and other Britpop and indie legends. Outside of acting, he has showcased his musical interests on platforms like YouTube and Twitch, where he occasionally plays guitar and discusses music with fans. His appreciation for the indie scene ties into the nostalgic Inbetweeners soundtrack, which featured artists like The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, and The Wombats—bands that defined the mid-to-late 2000s UK youth culture. James Buckley has found massive success on Cameo, the platform where fans can buy personalised video messages from celebrities. He became the most popular UK celebrity on the site and, at one point, was the highest-earning star globally. His videos, often featuring his classic Inbetweeners humour and references to Jay’s most iconic lines, have been hugely popular. His ability to deliver funny, personalised messages in Jay’s style has made him a fan favourite, with thousands of glowing reviews. His success on Cameo is a testament to the lasting impact of The Inbetweeners and how much people still love Jay’s character.

Greg Davies, who played Mr Gilbert in The Inbetweeners, is a regular on many UK panel shows. He has appeared on Taskmaster (which he hosts), Would I Lie to You?, Mock the Week, QI, and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, among others. His background in stand-up comedy and his imposing presence make him a popular guest on these shows.

I can't afford to right now, but maybe send the first series on US region NTSC to their new PO box from Amazon.com? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000A2UBOS/

Eddy

Yes, very last minute, so I was lucky I happened to notice it was happening and was free. It was great to have the opportunity to chat with them.

Eddy

Please watch Peep Show :)

Richiep

Who's Ren, haha? Never heard of him, so can't be any good ;-)

Eddy

Balls I missed it hopefully I'll catch the next one

Kev

Also not sure where the poll is.. but would LOVE if yous done The uk Office since yous think yous can deal with the cringe comedy a bit better😁😝haha

Caroline

Awhh.. Sad I missed this😕 Just wanted to say, Taskmaster is a show with Greg Davies that yous would both love! Also, there are a lot of really die hard Ren fans who go in on anyone with even the tiniest negative opinion of him.. but would say the majority respect honest opinions.. I’d say Hi Ren and Jenny & Screech are 2 of very few of his songs where he swears like that.. he does have a lot more that would be more to your taste.. but have also seen quite a few reactors on YT saying the fans can be a bit too intense though😂
