The Smiths - How Soon is Now?

Comments

It's also used in the movie The Craft if you ever saw that

Robert McMillan

A seminal British band . Not my thing at the time but now I love how groundbreaking they were .

Now that we figured that out, it will be for us too😂 Such a fun blast from the past!

What a great era Madchester was. Personally from the Stone Roses I prefer Elephant Stone and then Fools Gold. There was a good documentary recently about the whole Madchester scene mainly focused around the Hacienda. https://youtu.be/ywqvSYCIIUM?si=6gnr_o2kfR8J1nHn

You have to remember that we had just had the New Romantic scene (Duran Duran, Spandau Ballet) etc, so to have a song like this come with Morriseys emotional moody lyrics and Marrs alternative guitar parts was special and it has stood up to the test of time as it still sounds as good today

Aaron Page

Was going to say exactly that lol

Morrisey is certainly a polarising character but definitely some classic music. Their 'Meat is Murder' song created one of the biggest vegetarian movements in the 80s.

Even as a Londoner, I have to admit that Manchester is really the epicentre of English music. The Smiths were hugely influential. Their song Their Is A Light That Never Goes Out is stunning once you get your head around the lyrics. The Stone Roses’s self titled debut album was named greatest British album of all time in a poll of critics and musicians in The Observer newspaper. I agree.

The full song is 6:44

https://youtu.be/4D2qcbu26gs?feature=shared Another Manchester band from the Madchester era you could try are The Stone Roses. This song I Wanna Be Adored has a similar sound and atmosphere to How Soon Is Now, in my head anyway

Richard Stokes

Arctic Monkeys, Blur, and The Smiths in one day! You're spoiling us! 😃

Ash Jeffries

This will forever be the Charmed theme to me lol
