This video is basically some light homework for if you decide to watch The Inbetweeners.

2025-01-06 21:11:22 +0000 UTCI was introduced to the v sign in the equivalent of 1st grade with some lad running up to me doing the ✌️ and saying “victory” then reversing it and saying “surprise”. The history of the origin of the gesture is quite fascinating: Here is a video on it: https://youtu.be/rxKsHSEmDtg?si=5kMU_lD3kAj12Gkp

2025-01-06 17:41:22 +0000 UTCBack in the seventies, we used to call that reverse 'V' sign, a 'Harvey Smith' because the showjumper (equestrian) Harvey Smith inadvertently used it instead of a 'V for Victory' when he won a competition. An oops! moment in 1971 that cost him his £2000 winnings at a major event.

2025-01-06 16:26:05 +0000 UTCGrowler is another one, you’ll rarely see bars advertising ‘growler refills’ here as growler means the same thing as Fanny in the UK… We don’t use fanny pack in the UK, it’s a bum bag 😆 Pants would be trousers (except in the northwest like Manchester where they use pants the same way as the US). We tend not to wear slacks as much as you guys

2025-01-06 16:14:09 +0000 UTCThat’s definitely my view of the US Office, it’s funny as its own thing but is very different to the UK Office. With the red solo cup there it reminded me that I don’t think you’ve seen Kevin Bridges’ great house party bit yet… https://youtu.be/7fglCtVKGjk?si=GWPJ_U3Yp5tYyUTU This is a good follow up but you have to watch it after https://youtu.be/9vwWYRfYhSA?si=bC6NMyfXZGUMl2qd And this is a good third follow up, I can’t find a clip from the actual show but this is Kevin talking about it on the Jonathan Ross show https://youtu.be/yzfs4MDVWds?si=LxWENynUr6ItUTYx
