I just have to give a shout out to regular tea time Countdown from the 1982-early 2000s as Richard Whitely was so cringe as a host it was always entertaining to watch as well as all the various dictionary corner guests. I was a numbers game man like my brother and my late father was good with the letters. That show probably helped grow my vocabulary more than school. I really like the current host Colin Murray of the teatime Countdown, he is a great broadcaster but I struggle to watch it these days as I have a complicated relationship to my late father’s memory and influence on me.

2025-01-05 18:38:42 +0000 UTCThis show’s origins are rooted in Channel 4’s 30th-anniversary celebration, where they hosted a night of mash-up TV programs. Originally, it began as 8 Out of 10 Cats, a panel show based on statistics, with its name inspired by a popular cat food commercial claiming "8 out of 10 cats preferred it." During the mash-up event, they combined it with Countdown, Channel 4’s longest-running teatime show, which also happened to be the first program aired on the channel’s launch day. The concept was so well-received that the late-night adult version became a permanent feature. Over time, it's grown into one of Channel 4’s longest-running comedy panel shows. I think you’d both really enjoy it

2025-01-05 16:12:02 +0000 UTCI think Sean would have loved that last joke about his funeral. Even very shortly before he passed when he was in the hospice, a fellow comedian called him up he said (about the hospice) “It’s OK,” he said “… and the sex is amazing.” Definitely should do Sean Lock best moments from the show that is floating around on YouTube
