that story about Syd is so bonkers I felt compelled to share it! If you listen to the lyrics of Shine on you crazy diamond from this album (they do it at Pulse too) you hear the description of Syd, but every song is describing the toughness of the industry for a free spirited creative person. Interestingly the same thing happened with Fleetwood Mac and their original front man Peter Green. An LSD cult spiked him on tour same result, so they end up with Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham- brilliant but vastly different. They might be good to react from the 70s, classic soft rock band, so much talent they were wildly popular

He pretty much lost his mind and quit the band, but whilst recording this album dedicated to him, he somehow turned up for the recording at the studio. He sat there looking like a tramp basically and the band didn't know who he was until it dawned on them it was Syd! David Gilmour replaced him on vocals and guitar in the late 60s I think. Another band founder member Roger Waters who co- wrote most peak Pink Floyd albums of the 70s. Gilmour and Waters fell out by the time of this concert. They reunited briefly for the Live8 concert and I was lucky enough to see that in 2008!
