Dire Straights - Brothers in Arms

About the same time as the A-Ha 'Take On Me' video with it's pencil drawing/motion style.

Such a great video considering it was produced in 1985

Hi, thanks for getting back. First of all, yes the version you link is much better visually, so a much better choice. As for motorhead vs sabaton, they're both excellent songs in their own right but, personally, I think the Motorhead version hits that bit harder. The sabaton version is polished and produced, and Joakim Brodén's voice is just a little too "confident" (for want of a better word) The Motorhead version is very simple and Lemmy's voice is kind of cracked and vulnerable sounding and makes the story resonate so much more. This is of course only my opinion. 😁 If you do do it, try to imagine it playing just as you've come out of a minute silence. The first time the station did it, they'd got a friend of mine (an ex serviceman) to read Laurence Binyon's poem "for the fallen" before the silence. All in all, it was an emotional few minutes! Thanks for doing what you do, I'm hooked. (Oh, and thanks for dispelling a stupid stereotype I held about "americans". You both truly are honorary brits 😁)

Thank you for reaching out with this one friend. We will most certainly add it to our list and try to get it out on armistice day. I do have some questions after looking up other reactions to the song. Would this version be okay to react to? It seems like the version most react to. https://youtu.be/izyDOGpBc40?si=RC7dISiykaoTOR1y Also, I see a lot of people doing the Sabaton version as well. Is that something you would be interested in?

Guys, only found you by accident last week but you're already my favourite channel. Felt moved to comment on this one, and give you a connected recommendation. This is one of only 2 songs that are guaranteed to make me tear up! (Especially since it was played at my father in law's funeral) I don't know how it works in the US but here in the UK, our radio stations will observe the minute silence on armistice day (November 11th) and the station I listen to always choose a real gut-wrenching song to play coming out of it. This one is killer but the time they played Motorhead's 1916 I actually got the snot bubble blubbing (for context I'm a 55 y.o. male😄) I think, if you're up to it, you should definitely check out motorhead 1916 (the track, not the album of the same name) https://youtu.be/kTG6I3jxdnc?si=8oQYgyViGoO4db2J A react to this around armistice day (veterans day for you) would be perfect.

Telegraph Road is up next. I guess we'll be able to tell you soon!

Somewhere between this and Sultans of Swing you get Telegraph Road (from the same Alchemy Live performance), which is a different mood again and imo their epic masterpiece. I'd be interested to see which one you like best!
