Very special mini-series begins now

Dearest PLAtrons,

You’re hearing this top-secret news first. By order of the Central Military Commission itself, I’m about to fire off a string of episodes faster than a burst from a Type 79 that goes spontaneously full auto.

Normally, I leave episodes here on Patreon for as long as possible for your exclusive delectation, since it’s you who enable me to research Mao Zedong Thought and prove its benefits for gun safety, industrial relations, food distribution, and civil tranquility. Since you are the vanguard of History, it is only right that you get to peer into its future, weeks ahead of the masses.

However, for this particular miniseries, I’ll depart from custom and swiftly release the full miniseries about Maj. General Song Zipei (star of “A Mission Failed in Cao Bang”). Because his memoir has recently become much more available in Chinese, I want to relate the whole, magnificent epic quickly, before spoilers leak into the comments.

Moreover, General Song broke the “conspiracy of silence” in the post-war Army about how grossly it bungled the war. And the Chinese public is not unanimously thrilled by his revelations.

Some Chinese patriots will take umbrage that a foreigner is repeating these in public, and I’ll surely receive some, uh, “viewer mail.” So thank you, my Party comrades, for giving me cover to risk this series! The bombs are about to fall, but with you at my side and the inevitable victory of the revolution before us, I fear nothing but letting you down!

And now to your trenches! Our hapless friends the 122nd Division are about to attempt some breaching charges, and you won't want to be anywhere near them!
