Science Friction (HD/QHD/UHD)

(uncensored versions in HD, QHD, and UHD sizes attached)

"When you said 'Starship Crew SEXUAL Harassment Training' I admit I got the wrong idea!" - this is not the sexy space adventure I signed up for.

Happy GalaxyPink day, by the way! (Keep reading for an info-blog about GP stuff) The 27th of September, 2007 was when I released the original version of Sexual Fantasy Kingdom 1 in glorious 800x600 resolution! To put that in perspective, over 17 images from SFK1 could fit on the UHD version of this image. I think. If my math is right.

Note: With images like this one, I have to remember to be careful working in such high resolutions - higher than my monitor, which is just ordinary 1080 HD. I didn't notice until the render was already finished that one character's eyes aren't looking in quite the right direction. But let's say this is a candid shot during the conversation as her eyes were looking up and down. I still think it looks pretty awesome, look at that sexy space armor!

SO! I have some good news, some bad news, and some more good news. I try to stay positive so I'll deliver a good news sandwich! 1st piece of good news, I FINALLY figured out how to properly address my 3D files on my old hard drive - that trouble I've mentioned for the past couple of months that was making it very difficult to work. I got it sorted out, and everything was flowing nicely again, as it should be!

Now a bit of bad news... So then my damn hard drive fell off the desk and clunked pretty badly, and now plugging it in makes it make a clicking sound and that's all it does. According to the internet, that means it's physically damaged and keeping it plugged in to make the clicking noise only damages it further, so I unplugged it. It's broken. I've been looking into the real data recovery services that take apart hard drives and repair them, and it's super expensive, and there's no guarantee it'll all be okay. We talked about coming up with the money for data recovery, but frankly I haven't been productive or profitable enough in quite a while to really justify the expense...

For a while I thought that was it for me! 13 years of saved files, works in progress, custom textures, scenes, character designs, animations, my entire library of 3D content, just about everything I've done for years and years, basically my whole business - GONE! I'm not gonna lie, I cried about that for a while.

Then I came up with a plan! That's the 2nd piece of good news. I still have base figures and a bunch of random 3D stuff (luckily I had TWO hard drives from my old computer, the other of which is mostly personal files but had a bit of random stuff backed up).

So I decided: 1. Work on a NEW project, something completely different. 2. FINISH a project from scratch. 3. Make MONEY! 4. Use the money to get my hard drive repaired. 5. Be back in business!

If I can't do that, maybe my business is not worth saving. But I think I can do it!

A lot of my 3D leftovers were sci-fi stuff, because I had been hoping to work on a sci-fi thing, and kept putting it aside over the years. So I dug around and figured out what I was going to do. A space adventure.

A SEXY space adventure!

I've already worked out what each scene will be and I've been working on the designs (the character on the right is definitely one of the heroes, I'm not sure about the one on the left though, I think she needs some more work). It's coming together pretty well, for how frantic and stressed out I've been about it. Sometimes I need "frantic" energy (or manic energy) to get productive, like "crunch time". It is now crunch time.

Maybe it'll be amazing, but in any case hopefully it'll be SOON. So get ready to climb aboard the PINK GALAXY!

First, walk with me down memory lane...

Before SFK1, I had spent maybe six months to a year messing around with various concepts to see if I could make some porn, after Curious Factory, a big online hentai market at the time, announced they were accepting submissions from outside Japan. My first inkling was "Boy Princess" a cross-dressing thing, but I looked and saw that cross-dressing porn wasn't very popular on CF - but futanari was quite popular!

So then, my big idea was "Futanari Game Girlfriend" - a futanari girl who is obsessed with hentai games, and ends up getting transported into them for sexy times and maybe some dating sim elements - then she gets to choose one to take back to the real world with her to be her real girlfriend. The FAKE hentai-themed games I envisioned for that were a futanari super-agent espionage thing called "Agent H" (as in "ecchi", the H stands for "Hentai"), a sci-fi adventure called "Pink Galaxy" ("pink" has a similar connotation in Japanese, like, softcore racy stuff), and a fantasy world called "Sexual Fantasy Kingdom"... which is a silly name but it sounds like the English translation of a hentai title.

I was much more of a weeb back then!

Anyway, I decided to cut down and focus on just SFK, because it was a more interesting concept and I had more fantasy designs and inclinations at the time - that, and I wanted to "test the waters" on a project before I committed to something big. When it came time to name my company, I called myself "Galaxy Pink" after the sci-fi one. Or as it was translated in the Japanese releases... GYARAKUSHI PINKU.

When I finished SFK1, I had a few designs for SFK2 that I had cut from SFK1 but that was about it. Like I said, it was September 2007, I was still trying to figure out whether this could be a job. I waited until I saw whether there were some sales - and there were, like maybe it was something I could make money on, if I made a few more things - and THEN I started working on SFK2. I released it at the very end of December 2007. It's still the biggest seller I ever had, the original one. Nothing else I've done has made such a big splash (and arguably created a cottage industry of 3D futanari artists online). People wanted more futanari fantasy so I've been pretty much doing that ever since.

There are two key points to take from this trip down memory lane. 1. Pink Galaxy has been something I've always wanted to do, and 2. I know I can complete a project in a short time if I am focused, panicked, and desperate.

I AM ALL THOSE THINGS! Just watch what I can do! It's time for a new Galaxy Pink Original!

The new start is pretty hectic, but it does have me all fired up! I'll look into Carbonite, I've always been wary of putting stuff up on "the cloud" but if it's safe and cheap maybe it's worth it. For the time being at least I have now started backing up all my new work on multiple hard drives.

Sorry to hear about the trouble! Perhaps a new start is just what you needed? Advice like this always comes late, but cloud backup services are SO worth it, especially if you're willing to go the extra distance to control the encryption key yourself. I personally use Carbonite, which I also got for my dad who had a history of computer viruses. Saved his business at least a half dozen times! Last I checked, the cost was around $50/year for nearly unlimited storage.

It would help, but don't stretch yourself too thin, I know money is tight for everybody these days!

Sorry to hear about the problems. If needed I can raise my contribution if needed.

If you want to, you could increase your pledge on Patreon for one month and then knock it back down to normal (or not), but the best thing for me I think is to make that money with a real product release. It's so much, it's like $1000+ to get a hard drive fixed. >_<

Yeah, sorry for the crap you're going through, but I'm sure Pink Galaxy is going to be great. Is there some sort of way to just throw money at you, like a Ko-Fi thingy or something?

Definitely interesting. Looking forward to what you can make with that concept.

I forgot to mention, I've kept "Boy Princess" alive in a small way. I ended up doing SFK: The Girl Prince. In my mind, in the larger world of SFK, the Boy Princess is the princess of the Sea Kingdom, and his sister, Prince Meris is the prince. They have very understanding parents!

Hugs for galaxy.

Ben
