Patreon's Latest... Thing

Apparently Patreon has done something STUPID, and moved their billing system to another country without telling anyone or informing any banks, so some banks may flag/decline Patreon fees for being "suspicious activity" because they're suddenly coming from another country. This is happening all across the site at this point.

Their suggested solution instead of dealing with it themselves, is to have all their content creators message all of their patrons with declined payments individually, and ask them to talk to their banks and sort out the issue.

Isn't that really stupid? How many people paying a couple bucks a month are really interested in contacting their banks about it so they can keep making payments on a website that has screwed up its payment system? I wouldn't be surprised if some people just say "fuck it" and cancel (and if you do, thank you for your support up to this point! I totally understand, but I hope you'll stick with me or at least come back after this is all resolved).

Are they seriously asking their huge content creators to contact all ten zillion of their followers individually? Come on!

Hopefully, after Patreon realizes how much money they'll lose from declined payments, they'll just fix it themselves (like THEY can reach out to the banks and let them know the change is not some form of "fraud"). But until then, well if you got a message from me about it, it means your payment for this month was just declined.

If you intend to stick with me, I don't want your access to be interrupted. You can (as I said in the private message) contact your bank or financial institution, or you may be able to just reset and re-enter your up-to-date payment information and that MIGHT fix it.

If you didn't get a private message from me about that, then you don't have to do anything. I only messaged the people whose payments were declined this month.

So far, it's only happened to a few of you guys who support me, but I've heard of creators losing a quarter of their revenue so far this month. Jeez!
