What Michelle has been doing in Australia

1. Dental work, unplanned. Upside: dental work was not ruinously expensive for dental work. And also: the dentist took pictures of the work she was doing during each stage of said work. I have them. I promise not to post them, because who needs to see dental work? But she took them so I could bring them to my actual dentist, and I ... kind of find it fascinating. 

2. Finishing Cast in Eternity

3. Writing new Hunter's Redoubt words

4. Seeing a lot of rain.

5. Discovering that my interim editor at Mira is also leaving the company T_T. I swear it isn't something that I did >.< So I had news, but actually it's less... set in stone in some ways until I have New Editor, and that's... sometime on the 15th of April? (In short: contracts for new Cast/Cast related books. But the contract terms don't specify which books, because the editor who is leaving wanted to give both me & the editor who will be working with me as much flexibility as possible in future. So. Ummm. 2 books. I'll do something a bit more intelligible when I've had a chance to meet the New Editor.)

Today, as I come close to the end of my writing retreat, it's brilliantly sunny and clear outside, probably because I'm leaving in a couple of days.

It's been a couple of years since I've gone on what had been until that point an annual writing retreat, and the dental mishap caused a bit of a slowdown - but, this is still seriously the best place to take a deep breath and return to my interior writing roots.

I have one major thing left to do before I come home on the 4th

2a. Cutting 6k words from Cast in Eternity T_T. 

I am hoping that this will be finished before I actually board the plane. 

I also hope that I have no mysterious asymptomatic covid because if I test positive/inconclusive I... will not be allowed to board the plane. I am calming my anxiety by telling myself that having to stay in Australia for a few more days means I'll get even more work done >.<
