Full Length Reaction Guide

We take copyright law very seriously, so you will have to sync up our reaction to your own version of the show/movie. To help, we have a range of guiding tools throughout the reaction to help you sync up with us, including a small snippet of the scene to ensure you are in sync.  Any instances in which you see the screen cut, this means we’ve had technical difficulties or have skipped a potential disruptions/bloopers. This means you will need to sync up your copy of the show again, if we are unable to edit these cuts seamlessly into the next scene. An updated timecode will be provided on the screen.  Anytime we pause, there will be timer/countdown on screen to prompt you. So if we’re about to pause, there’ll be a countdown, and you are expected to pause as the number reaches 0. The same will happen when we press play after pausing. You will press play as the number reaches 0.  Here are some popular ways people sync up the reaction with their own copy of the show:

Troy [2004] Uncut Reaction

Comments

Extended is wayyyy better 📈

MateoP

Ned Stark killing Jeor Mormont Also should have figured Paris would be deadly with a bow. He’s Legolas after all. A true greek tragedy

Christopher

Is there a reason why you can't put the edited version out at the same time as the full length? Or just lazy.

BERSERKS

Also sorry if this has been asked before, but have they seen Titanic? If they haven't this would be an epic reaction. I'm thinking of this cause Troy has the same music composer so it brought Titanic to mind. Either way so happy to see them reacting to movies again!

Lise

I admire how balanced you are in your review, because even though Achilles is an epic character to watch in battle, and like you said a demi-God among men with the ego to match, he's such a sulky, petty, selfish child to me, especially in comparison to Hector, not that I mind it, I think it fits the movie, but didn't like him nor 'connect' to him. Even though he was not serving Agamemnon, he still participated to this war, just like a mercenary. I loved his music theme though. I also liked Odysseus, there are only a few characters with a brain in this movie. The biggest change for the music that I can remember in the extended version was during the fight between Hector and Achilles, and also at the end when the Greeks sack the city. Also the guy who wrote the script of Troy is one of the main creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff.

Lise

It's such a foundational tale of western civilization. So many terms and concepts we use today are from that story. An Achilles' heel. A Trojan horse. And odyssey. A siren's song. Etc.

Julien

That fight between Hector and Achilles is iconic. The choreography was amazing.

Darrell Henry

The taste for this channel is entirely geared toward Spartan hug?

Ian Mossner

I'm glad you didn't know the story, because it made for a great reaction. But holy shit, you guys, go read your ancestors' most famous literature! How do North American WASPs know the story and the characters better than you two Greeks? 😂

Kate

All over a girl says the prettiest of them all, Pudgey

SnorlaX

So glad you guys finally watched this one! Anyone else notice Ramsey’s fireball attack on Stannis in GOT seemed to be directly inspired by Troy’s attack on the Greeks? Troy movie has been bested by other projects that came after it but the influence can’t be denied.

ShanB

it cracked me up when pudgey said oh he lives for the first time about Odysseus bc the epic the odyssey is about his journey trying to return home from the trojan war lol. i absolutely love the Iliad and the odyssey 10/10 would recommend reading them. the language can be a bit hard to follow but the stories are awesome.

Megan Burland

The actor you mentioned that's also in "300" is also Garp in "One Piece"

Luke

Achilles!

William Abbott

Hector is such a great, and tragic character.

Vanessa Navarro

FINALLY! Also, weird fun fact! The actress who plays Helen is married to the actor who plays Daryl in The Walking Dead

Angel M

Also did you notice Sneaky Snake Pycelle? 😂

Ricky

Loved watching this movie with you guys! It's one of my all time favorites, and actually my first "historical" war movie as a kid. Now you need to watch Kingdom of Heaven 😁

Ricky

Nawr way!!!!!! Let's go!!!!!

Sharpgirl

i like Troy alot, alot but Gladiator to me is in another realm altogether, same with 300

EnVy316LeGeNd

Omg, I've been waiting forever to see Spartan react to this movie!

Cal

"Sing to me oh Goddess, of the wrath of Achilles Peleus' son, that brought countless ills upon the Achaeans." Achilles is the original antihero. It still blows my mind how amazing and emotionally/morally complex this 3000-year-old story is.

David McDonald

Might want to wait ... still hoping they might do Foundation at some point. But for now having the Expanse is good enough for me.

Hans Engelen

I love love love that you two keep your reactions to recognizing actors to a minimum. I didn't know until now that that was a conscious decision. It's awesome. It's probably my no. 1 pet peeve with reactors. How they immediately jump out of the movie to discuss the actor and whatever role they knew him from. Or worse, when they spent the next five minutes vocally trying remember where they've seen the actor instead of being immersed into the movie. It has ruined many an important scene for me. You two are great.

Julien

It was Paris of course, but it's almost as if he surrendered to the vulnerability and love of Briseis in that moment rather than fighting to his death.

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Yes!!!

CpaSpartan Pudgey

Did you recognize Commander Mormont?

Hans Engelen

well i guess i'll wait for edited version on this one cause its on amazon here but also means you have to have AMC. Once done with Severance I can cancel Apple...unless you do Silo. Hate having 8 different subscriptions.. welp i rented it to watch it with them lol

EnVy316LeGeNd

From after the discussion, I think why Achilles stands out to so many people is because despite him being near-mythic and godlike in war, he was shown to be deeply human and he went down just as easy as anyone else. It's also kind of ironic that someone like Paris would be the one to kill Achilles .

Demo

But it's more than that. The conceit of the movie is that these are the real life events upon which the Trojan War mythology was based. So the idea is that when the body of the greatest warrior Achilles was found, with an arrow singularly lodged in his heel, people concluded that the arrow must have felled him and that the heel was his weakness. So the mythology built from that observation. The movie is attempting to show how a myth can be built from mundane occurrences (random arrow in the heel of a guy that was already mortally wounded) and false interpretation.

Julien

"Mythologically accurate" rather than historically accurate 🙊 whoops

CpaSpartan Pudgey

My favorite movie OAT. I'm glad y'all enjoyed it!!

Demo

„What irony that Achilles was killed with a shot through the Achilles heel“ Well, it‘s not irony at all - the Achilles’ heel is literally named after Achilles, since in mythology it was his only vulnerable spot.

AkiZzu

I know Spartan is gonna get a GEE UP from this can't wait to watch.

Alex

Brad Pitt himself would disagree quote from Brad Pitt : "I had to do Troy because [...] I pulled out of another movie and then had to do something for the studio. So I was put in Troy. It wasn't painful, but I realized that the way that movie was being told was not how I wanted it to be. I made my own mistakes in it. What am I trying to say about Troy? I could not get out of the middle of the frame. It was driving me crazy. I'd become spoiled working with David Fincher. It's no slight on Wolfgang Petersen. Das Boot is one of the all-time great films. But somewhere in it, Troy became a commercial kind of thing. Every shot was like, 'Here's the hero!' There was no mystery."

Richie3891

An supremely awesome surprise! Underrated gem of a love and combat movie. I love that you guys are just picking movies executively. Polls can be nice, but I think choosing your own adventures is best.

Paul

There... is no history. It's all mythology (i.e., completely made up). At best, some historians think that the story of the Trojan War may have been inspired by a real war (possible) and that Troy may have actually existed but there is no consensus or evidence. This movie is an attempt to establish a faux-historical basis for the Trojan War myth. But there is no real history to know.

Julien

Let no man forget how menacing we are!!! We are Lions!!! In my opinion that's the Greatest shortest (key word shortest lol) speech in ancient war films! Brad Pitt was born to play Achilles!

dieselbeast

I don't want to put words in their mouths but Troy has been on their list for the longest time now since late last year I believe, but a lot of things have happened in between then and they are just now getting to it which I'm thankful for lol it's been suggested plenty ever since 300 and Gladiator

dieselbeast

Mid take. Quite possibly some of the best set design and action sets in cinema.

Alex

You guys can't imagine how much time I've been waiting for this... OMG.

Fran Navarro

Oh snap

Joe

*cough* I do believe that Superbad had won the previous Poll for movies *cough*

Rich Plumb

Ah yes, Troy. The most 3/5 stars movie there ever was 😌
