Yeah even with what he’s done you feel like there’s a way back for him, especially after seeing how he’s looking after Rick and Lori. Moment he shows up back alone you knew something wasn’t right

Tell that to Otis’s wife lmao. What he did was an accident, Shane did it on purpose. There’s no justification, that makes it ok, but as we’ve seen Shane’s been increasingly getting unhinged.

he is a fictional character, we can enjoy and discuss what they have to offer without them needing to be model citizens

Yeah, I find it pretty disturbing how many people immediately justify Shane's actions here. I don't find it to be a grey area. It's not like he passively allowed someone to die by just not helping, he fully chose to murder someone to gain an advantage. People argue that he did it to save Carl (and for Lori & Rick's sakes) but I believe he would've done it just to save himself in any circumstance. Shane is a manipulator and a liar who has done at least three very dishonourable and immoral things at this point... I think if this was GoT they would have put him on the Sneaky Snake list by now.

Who should Shane care more about Carl's survival and his own or Otis who caused all of this, clearly Shane is justified here.

It’s interesting how many viewers always go straight to “Shane made the difficult choice no one else could have made,” but I think we forget that his choice was equally beneficial for Rick and Lori as it was DETRIMENTAL to Hershel and his family at the farmhouse. Does Patricia’s pain matter less than Lori and Rick’s? Is it fair for Shane to treat this family, who (by the way), spent the entire day using all their time, energy and resources trying to help them, like collateral damage for his own personal desires to A) survive and B) save Carl? Idk… I completely agree with the antihero take, howeverrrr one must ask: WHEN does someone become a villain? After how many r*pe attempts? After how many sacrifices of another person? At the end of the day, I’m not sure the good Shane has done to this point really outweighs the bad :/

I think it’s strong and often hits even harder after experiencing everything with these characters in later seasons as well, it’s all subjective. The two seasons people say are the worst are amazing imo.

God I miss these early seasons. Hardly any music, just bugs chittering in the background. Epic lighting too. C'mon early TWD is one of the best
