The purpose of her experiment, beyond a childhood dream of hers to recreate the iconic trap, was to illustrate how stupid non-magical people were: Bending over backwards to rationalize things they saw out of the ordinary, yet unable to dispel that exact same denial of magic's existence, when they were on the direct receiving end of it.
But that didn't mean she couldn't enjoy the tertiary fruits of her labors from time to time.
