The Weeknd - Red Terror & Open Hearts Video Reactions

2 in 1 video. What a few days it has been!

Comments

I went today!!! Watched it 3 times in a row until they kicked me off. It was so good! His beautiful face 😭

1. Without A Warning 2. Take Me Back To LA 3. Baptized In Fear Top 3 is pretty locked in. Ranking the rest of the album is a different story lol

Dylan Durham

Honestly Jon, the immersive experience I got from Open Hearts was something very different, although you couldn't appreciate how good the song was at the time. The vision pro itself is some of the best virtual reality you'll ever see atm. Felt like you was actually present in the video and Abel was actually there lmao

Fayed

Oh gosh I’m going to have to go but it’s so far away and I hate people! 🤣

Heather Thompson

How can I pick my top three? 😫 The album is such an experience. I can’t even tell you how much I’ve cried to it over the past few days. The top 4 tearjerkers are - Given up on me Take me back to LA Without a warning Hurry up Tomorrow But if I’m at work and can’t be crying at customers my repeat songs in my earphones have been - Wake Me Up Open Hearts I can’t wait to get there But I’m fascinated by Baptized in Fear (and that transition) The Abyss Though they can make me cry too.. Bloody hell it’s just all amazing. 🥲

I think at the end of the red terror video is Abel shredding the skin/persona of the weeknd to be reborn again as that pure inner child he once was. Please do a reaction video to the hurry up tomorrow movie trailer. Finally the Grammys do the right thing and publicity apologize to Abel.

Richie

As for now, my top 3 are take me back to LA, The Abyss and Cry for me.

Richie

the baby is abel as a kid...

D’Andre Turner

Without A Warning, Baptized In Fear, The Abyss

Ryan Shaw

1. Take me back to LA 2. Baptized in fear 3. Without warning

hoopgreenasmr

I believe if you listen closely to the end of the open hearts video the heartbeat stops and the weeknds heart flatlines

Ruben Deguelle

Calling the Open Hearts video in Vision Pro a 3D is a massive understatement. It’s immersive. You feel like you’re there. Abel is inches away from you, you can almost touch him. I recommend you go and see it. It’s hella impressive

Anastasia Kulikova

It's so difficult to choose my favourite songs on the new album because it's all so good. Hurry Up Tomorrow is such a stunning song, without a warning is absolute fire, open hearts and wake me up are amazing. I think Cry for me is gonna be a massive hit. Love your videos John!

Darren Wilson

Baptized in fear The Abyss Enjoy the show

Roland

Watching Open Hearts with the Apple Vision Pro was INSANE. Took the video to a whole other level, especially because it was my first time hearing the music

Gonçalo Prates

Baptized in fear Big sleep The abyss

After about 5 full, complete album listens, I gotta put Without a Warning #1. Just where it’s placed in the album, the anticipation that the end is near (physically with the album and with his life/persona/alter ego), the production, vocals, and ultimately much like ‘Faith.’ The ending of that song is where I feel completely in heaven.

Braden

My top 3 right now is: Take me back to LA Given Up on Me The Abyss

Chris

Hard to pick, but for the moment here they are: The Abyss Cry for me Baptized in fear As for the Red Terror video, my interpretation is that the thing he touched toward the end is the lifestyle that came with being The Weeknd/ or the industry itself. The child he was at the end of the video was not the innocent one from the beginning (that laugh is actually quite evil). So this may be the moment when all this started to affect him as a person.

Alina

1. The Abyss 2. Cry for me 3. Baptized in fear/Niagara Falls

Hryzn

Top 3 wake me up, open hearts, i cant wait to get there easily

Liam

1. Big fucking Sleep 2. Cry For Me 3. Enjoy The Show

Adil

Top 3 is tough lol, I think right now I have to go Niagara Falls, Take Me Back to LA, Enjoy the Show

Jordan Austin

If you ever get a chance to watch open hearts video in Vision Pro it’s worth. It’s basically being in the music video it’s crazy

Seale

As of right now, my three favorite tracks from Hurry Up Tomorrow are (in no particular order): Wake Me Up, Baptized in Fear, and The Abyss. Who knows how that list may change as time goes on.

Kevin Hicks

I think top 3 are: Cry for me Reflections laughing Niagra Falls Love this album so much

Caoimhe Doyle

The whole album is like in the top 5 for me, but I’ve waited for take me back to LA for years and it delivered!

JackXO

my current favorites are Baptized in Fear and Given Up On Me

Noah Kahan

I definitely agree with your analysis. The back-half of the album, especially, seems to be very reflective as he's trying to break free but is unsure if it's too late to do so. And he wrestles with that back-and-forth. There's also a wonderful bookend quality when it comes to dabbling in his old sounds and callbacks showing how far he's come on this journey (i.e. going from Escape to LA -> Take Me Back to LA in this trilogy).

Richard MacLeod

I believe red terror was an event that happened in Ethiopia when Abel’s mother was living there

Jack

at first i thought he was singing from the perspective of his mother but right now i think he’s singing to his inner child.

Blades

Thanks Jon!
