*ARMY GOLD* - “The Problem with the "Masterminds" Behind BTS” (BORACITY MAGAZINE)

Here’s my take: the mastermind/success of BTS is the power of collaboration between passionate people. The biggest thing was the synergy between the members that made it into the final lineup. I started listing what each member contributes and this got too long. So RM, I’ll say was the pillar and the other members filled in all the gaps. The company provided the tools and resources - all the staff contribution cannot go unnoticed. My personal opinion though, from a subjective perspective: I think those 7 members were destined to work together; they were the perfect melting point of talent, determination and passion. They also attracted the right people to help, guide and raise them along the way. No 1,2, or 3 people are the “masterminds”. You can’t make an RM, or Suga or JHope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook or V. You find people who have something that intrigues or connects with people, you cultivate it, present it into the world and help spread it. That was a collective effort of not only the members & company but also ARMY who connected with these 7 humans.

I agree with the overall content of this video and also with your statement towards the end - "Bang PD (and by extension BigHit/Hybe) needed/needs BTS more than BTS needed/needs Bang PD (and by extension BigHit/Hybe)." I think that captures my overall thoughts about the relationship between the company and the boys. Credit where credit due ofcourse, but that doesn't mean I trust everyone involved in that process. I trust BTS; not BigHit (anymore), definitely not Hybe, just BTS.

I like Boracity’s videos but I disagree with her on this one. RM plays a huge key role in BTS but this view not only undermines the collective efforts of many creative minds working behind the scenes and of the other members, but it also contradicts the true definition of a mastermind, “to plan a difficult activity in detail and make certain that it happens successfully”. I think Jared’s description “the spark that created all of this” (27:00) is more suitable. In the case of BTS, there is no mastermind in my opinion. It’s the result of collaboration between many talented individuals – from the members themselves, the teams working tirelessly behind the scenes and the hard work of the fans. Both BTS members and the company have repeatedly emphasized that their success is not solely due to the members. Behind every performance, album, and production lies hundreds of hours of hard work from the creative teams at Big Hit and Hybe. RM plays a significant role in songwriting and leadership but not in song production, performances, dance, vocals, visual concepts and all the other things that makes BTS who they are and no, RM did not select the members himself. He also wasn’t the one who convinced all the other members to stay. Figures like Bang PD and other key staff members, such as Pdogg and BTS’ choreographer and performance director been instrumental in shaping the group, guiding key decisions, and supporting BTS on their journey. BTS’s long-term success proves that it is not dependent on RM alone. The group has evolved as a unit, with each member contributing to their creative diversity. For example, Pdogg, a highly versatile producer who works closely with BTS, has helped them craft their unique sound. Similarly, Bang PD acted as a mentor and leader, imparting the core values for their teamwork. BTS would not have reached their current heights without the guidance and creative supervision of these key individuals. BTS is not just seven talented members but an entire network of creative teams responsible for the conceptualization and organization of the “team BTS”. BTS’ success is not by chance but because of BTS’ personality and talents, the tireless efforts of everyone involved and through strategic management - by Bighit and especially ARMY. There is so much that can be criticized about Hybe and the media that only mentions Bang PD or other people as the masterminds behind BTS or calls every other group the next BTS. But I think the path she has chosen, by discrediting the work of others and denying their contribution, is not the right one. 33:00 To expand on your thoughts, I think RM would have made it without Bang PD based on his talents, creative mind and character alone, but without Bang PD there would be no BTS, and without Bang PD would he have had the same success and organized fandom as BTS?

Totally agree 💯 And it concerns me that they've been shoving Boracity into J&J just every single time 😩

💯 percent agree with this…I even think a higher power is responsible because of the of the way they came together .The likelihood of these events causing the members to meet just seems unattainable…but it did happen. They were destined and intended to be where they are.💜💜💜💜

Not a comment on the video but on the discourse - I am so tired of the divisive and negative viewpoint about and Bang PD perpetuated by kpoppies that some armys also fall into. Some of these comments are a mess.

I love Boracity she's isn't for everybody and she has stated that multiple times in videos I notice people get triggered but her OPINIONS do I agree at the time no but that's ok because the 90% I do she is spot when she brings up other groups that really gets people going especially if they are multi kpop fans I feel as long as she is being disrespectful I don't see the issue.

Boracity is liked by ARMYs but not so much by Kpop fans, I have a few kpop fans friends, this means they like not only one but many kpop groups, and support them all, i.e, they like the kpop culture in general. Since I'm just ARMY (I love BTS and only BTS), I know other kpop groups but they are not my cup of tea, I can agree with Boracity but they talk from an ARMY perspective, Boracity is not a Kpop fan, they have said it multiple times, and since there are ARMYs who are kpop fans too the disagreement starts. I'm just going to say this, if you want to keep the fandom together don't talk about other kpop groups unless is in a supportive way, we all know BTS is the biggest, but no need to say how big they are in comparison to other groups, at least that's my opinion. And about the masterminds behind BTS, I honestly think there's no mastermind, nobody planned this to happen, simply a great combination of artists came together, Bang PD gave him the freedom to write, and all the members felt very compromised and part of the group, RM guides the members to what to write about, Pdogg produced accordingly and the Son-sung gave hard work choreo. All 7 members worked really hard to be what they are now, in different fields, ones writing lyrics, other dancing like crazy, others giving everything with their personalities.

I totally agree with you and I don't really like this creators video essays or opinion pieces. There is something about them that never really sit right with me.

Hobi couldn't have said it any better: FATE brought them together, RM decided to sign with big hit, JK chose big hit because of RM, Hobi wanted to leave the company, but RM and JK convinced him to stay, Yoongi could have given up after his accident but he kept going because of the guys, Jin had ignored other companies scouting him but took the offer from big hit and chose to sing instead of acting, tell me is not fated when Tae goes to an audition to accompany his friend but ends up being the only one making it from his hometown, and lastly Jimin who thought was the least talented and that would be kick out for lacking and has ended up being the first Korean soloist to be #1 in BHot100. I think HYBE has lost sight of the most important value BTS has held on to for more than 10 years, and that is HUMBLENESS; they are not afraid of being human, and that's the main reason ARMY loves them. In all these new groups coming up, I don't see humbleness, gratefulness, and humanity; every group, you see, they all talk about their goals to reach Billboards, that's the goal nothing more and I think that's the problem. Thank you so much for your reaction J & J.

This video frustrated me so much. I can't manage to write anything more than that without a massive rant so oh well. I wish the guys didn't watch opinion pieces like this one that seem to dismiss anyone who isn't BTS, when other people do matter and other artists have their own things going on. Kpop isn't declining. BTS paved the way so that others could follow, I think army forgets that. Katseye is awesome, I love them. RM is absolutely the true pillar of BTS, alongside Suga and even Jhope, they started it all and their passion and talent built army from the ground up.
