They pre-record performances as a backup for broadcast. At the actual award show, they perform live—even the ones they pre-recorded. However, the broadcast often uses the pre-recorded footage. That’s why there was a camera switch during Jungkook’s intro in “IDOL.” What we first saw was the pre-recorded video, and after a brief cut, it switched to the live footage filmed on the day of the award show. From that point on, the “IDOL” performance was live, which caused the noticeable transition. So yes, it did look like there were two cameras, and that’s exactly what happened. It’s a symbolic creature believed to chase away bad luck and bring good fortune. There’s a traditional Korean dance called "Bukcheong Saja Noreum (Bukcheong Lion Mask Dance)" that features this lion.
