Gay Gangsters of Gotham - Clayface and Daggett

In another telling of Clayface's origins... The famous actor, Matt Hagen enjoyed his celebrity lifestyle perhaps a bit too much. He loved expensive vacations, fine drink and powerful men most of all. Roland Daggett, an aspiring criminal kingpin building his fortune on a pharmaceutical empire had taken quite an interest in Hagen and began pursuing him. Hagen was quite impressed by the man, and certainly didn't care where the money was coming from as long as the two could enjoy their affair without strings. Daggett was not a fan of sharing his handsome boyfriend however...

After a night of arguing, Hagen finally ended his relationship with Roland and stormed out on him. As he sped away from Daggett's mansion, a deer leaped in front of his car and he swerved to avoid hitting it: That was the moment he learned that the brakes of his car were out! The accident almost killed him but instead left him horribly scarred. He would never be able to act as a leading man again. Fate would intervene it seemed as his former boyfriend had recently created a new skincare cream, though it wasn't ready for the public just yet. Incredibly, once applied to the skin it could mould and adapt to the face, even taking scarred tissue and making it look new again! It wasn't difficult to persuade the actor to give him another chance, since he provided the only seeming 'cure' for Hagen.

The cream unfortunately had dramatic side effects including addiction, aggressiveness, and previously unknown long term effects. The more of it that was used on his face and body, the more that was absorbed into his body, his very cells. This time, due to his unpredictable nature and rising violent nature it was Daggett who ended their relationship. Hagen took that personally. He also still had suspicions that Roland had something to do with his brakes going out that night. When he went to confront his ex about everything, he found him atop a catwalk in one of his products' processing facilities. The two began to argue, which led to a physical altercation between them. Though it was an accident, Hagen went over the railing into a vat of the skin care concoction in its concentrated form.

When Hagen was finally pulled out of the chemicals he had undergone an awful transformation into the monster known as Clayface! He could shape his body now at will, into whatever he wished, including weaponry, additional limbs, extra size and so much more! He wanted to kill Roland for what he had done, but that seemed too kind an outcome. Instead he vowed to topple his pharmaceutical empire, taking away what he had worked so hard to build. It wasn't too difficult to sabotage, since he could appear as anyone he wanted and infiltrate anywhere with ease.

When he was done, Daggett was a ruined man, and surprisingly this seemed enough for Clayface's retribution to be sated. Roland finally admitted that he had tried to kill him after he left him all those months before as well as using the untested drug to keep him loyal, and the two, seemingly now at the bottom together were once again on even-footing. The mutual hate they had felt was replaced by a renewed fiery passion. Their relationship, while twisted and fraught with sabotage only served to pull and shape them back together.

I agree! Also had to add him to the roster since the Matt Hagen version of the character is canonically gay! I just had to come up with who might make a good partner for him... Obviously 'good' is pretty subjective here, lol.

Thank you so much, Bepis! I'm also very proud of this one. :]

One of the best works you have done!

I have to admit that this is not something I even remotely considered for Clayface...though after seeing and reading this I can't imagine WHY something like it didn't occur to me. EDIT after further thought: While he could be extremely calculating at times, Clayface also had fire and passion. While that's part of what would make him a terrifying nemesis, it could also make him a fantastic lover...provided one could get past appearances and the heavy dose of "crazy" that sometimes came along with his problems. Then again, it's not like Daggett's moral compass was anything to write home about, either, which might actually help them work well together.
