Touching Base at the End of Summer
Added 2024-09-05 04:09:55 +0000 UTCHey there folks!
I really hope that everyone has been enjoying their summer so far (or winter if you're in the southern hemisphere!) and finding time to enjoy yourselves, in whatever form that may take. :)
I haven't done an update post about myself for awhile because for a long time things were not going very well for me and I didn't feel up to giving all the reasons why, and I still don't lol. The good news is that stuff largely has gotten better for my husband and me and I'm more excited about my job again and have mustered enough motivation to push beyond my normal patreon content and do some 'above and beyond' type work for this platform. I'm planning for this to include much more work on my Uther Underson project which I started last year. Most of the art assets are done for it, but there will be a decent story I still need to write, plenty of audio assets to add, (a first in a game I've helmed!) including music and some voice lines. For over a year I haven't been able to get any quality writing done due to ye olde depression/anxiety combo, but I've been feeling much better for a couple months now and inspired to get the story written. I'm also thinking of making some designs for a future red bubble store, though I'm not too sure what people would want from that... Stickers? T-shirts? Mugs??
I've been a bit lax in asking for this, so I will broach the subject now: If you folks are enjoying pieces that I create, the subject matter, angles, really anything about them, please let me know in the comments and leave a like for me! I read every comment and appreciate all the positive ones as they are great motivation for me. At the other end of the scale, negative comments or ones that diminish certain body types are not helpful and I have had to block some people for being repeatedly rude to me about my work. In addition, comments and likes really help me know the type of stuff you all want to see from me. I recognize that not every illustration I make will be for everyone, but believe me, it's better that I have some variation to what I do, otherwise I get bored quickly and lose drive. So please help me feel good about the content I make for y'all with some likes and comments! Thank you kindly in advance! XD
In my life lately I've been making more time to spend with friends and loved ones, trying to make the most of the warm weather and reconnect after being pretty reclusive last year. My dad stayed with us for a week and he and I got along really well which is a big step forward in our relationship. He and I worked on making a 'catio' out of pvc piping and wire mesh for our two feline boys and it turned out awesome! They finally have a way to enjoy some of the outside world while being kept safe from cars, dogs, other cats, shitty people and their own boredom!
Lastly, and as always I wanted to extend a huge heartfelt thank you for your ongoing support, whether you've been a patron for awhile now or have only recently decided to offer financial aid to this grateful artist. :) Even when the going gets tough, this job fills me with purpose and pleasure and though my life might have its share of other struggles sometimes, waking up excited to work is not one of them. It's humbling you know, being able to do what I love because you fine folk are willing to give me the opportunity. It means the world to me, for real.
Sincerely,
D.B.

2024-09-05 21:54:04 +0000 UTCI'm happy to hear that things are on the rise for you and the hubby. You two work hard at your respective crafts and deserve to be recognized for it. As for the merch, I know I'd buy shirts, mugs or even a simple lanyard if you made them.

2024-09-05 06:57:19 +0000 UTCI never grew up with Nintendo (I was in my 40s when I played my first) and haven't watched nearly the breadth of anime you have, so much of the specific references is lost on me. But that doesn't keep me from enjoying someone else geeking on something. I know where I could go for other content, but I'm here for a reason: you have pervy wholesomeness going on, and I love it. The Kobold's Bodyguard -- very freakin' invested. To second Bryan, I'd be tempted by merch.

2024-09-05 05:49:17 +0000 UTCIf you want feedback; I'd love to buy mugs or shirts with cute balding dads on them. Despite it being something that 30 - 50% of men go through. There's rarely anything that actually acknowledges this natural part of manhood in our culture. I imagine a lot of just regular people would want to be able to buy things for their actual fathers that really resemble them. Your style is very endearing. You could easily make products that could cater to mass audience without compromising anything and run specials for father's day and grandparents day. I admit I miss being able to comment on your work in real time during streams when I could attend. I'll be sure to be more even vocal about all of the things I appreciate in each of your pieces.
