Rock, Paper, Scissors…REACT! | “Jack in the Box” Edition
Added 2022-07-16 23:45:00 +0000 UTCJ-Hope just released his new 10-track solo album, “Jack in the Box,” and it inspired us to spontaneously create a new game that we’re calling: ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS…REACT!
The rules of the game are as follows:
1. Pull up the tracklist of a BTS or BTS Members album.
2. Point towards the tracklist with 1 arm in front of you.
3. Close your eyes and move your arm in circles.
4. Count down from 3-2-1 and stop moving your arm.
5. Open one eye and name the song just above where your finger is pointing.
6. Play ROCK PAPER SCISSORS (Best of 3) to see which of the 2 songs to react too.
WATCH THE VIDEO TO SEE WHICH SONG WE CHOSE TO REACT TO! Hint: RM recently stated that it was his favorite song off of J-Hope’s new album!

I would recommend watching Hobi‘s Lollapalooza Performance (you can find it on youtube). It‘s too long to react to it but when you watch it you will see everything you need to know about J-Hope💜 he performed all 10 song‘s of the new album, some of his last mixtape, a special version of Dynamite, a very old song and Chicken Noodle soup (his collab with Becky G.). RM has himself said it in a Vlive once that it would be an experience if we listen to the whole album in a series as thats how they craft it , there’s an intro there’s an interlude and there’s an end. Same goes for this album of Jhope - the intro( 1st song) is an intro, reflection is an interlude and Arson is the outro. I mean definitely if u listen them separately they r awesome songs but it all makes sense when you listen it all together. Having said that , i do like this idea of rock paper scissors to choose the song to react to. So my suggestion would be continue reacting them via Rock Paper Scissors and once you have already listened to each song , react to the whole album all together and do a album review in single reaction. That way the reaction will not be that long since u guys will have already reacted to each song individually by then. It will be an actual album reaction and not each song reaction. Plus u’ll get to know what the artist intent was while putting this album up and u can finally review it in full knowledge. PS i love ur reactions and the depth and the time u guys take to appreciate BTS💜. Glad to be a Patreon member💜

Fun fact: Black Eyed Peas are under the same label as BTS’s label HYBE. Last year , the CEO of HyBE , Bang Si-Hyuk bought out BEP label Ithaca Holding for 1 billion dollars. I love the message of the song and Hobi's vocals were so good. also, I hope you guys chose to do an album review. I would love to hear your analysis of it as well, as I continue down the Hobi hole myself. Now that I think of it, you will be at a disadvantage almost because you have not heard his first one, his mixtape, HopeWorld. It’s so different from this one, but both a scrumptious treat! Oh man. Now I’m dying inside to know how you’d view the contrast in the two. May I suggest you shake it up even more, along with the new game version of your reviews, and alternative a bit between a listen to one from each and allow us to enjoy your mind blowing experience with it. I promise you it will be just that.

I look forward to a reaction to the mono muxtape by rm, it’s VERY GOOD imo. I think all albums should be listened to in order, that’s what the albums by bts are made for, I think. I hope you do the whole 2 cool 4 school album now that you’ve listened to no more dream and We are bulletproof pt2, there are not many songs left but it’s good!

2022-07-18 18:37:06 +0000 UTCto me personally, equal sign is the best on the album. all of the others are good. that is not to take away from the greatness of the other songs, but this one just touches your soul. all of the rap line actually sing on some songs and I love their songs individually. I would love to hear your thoughts on the entire album, but for background (what I think) for the concept of this album. J hope is always know as a sunny person. as you know you cant have light without dark. with the song more and the "hiatus" he is expressing that he has more to give than what has been seen from his "box". A lot has happened since debut and while they have had creative freedom, they havent at the same time. he is showing the world that there is more to him than what has been seen so far. too many artists get trapped in the image that is created by the fans or for the fans, which in turn creates a box that they have to stick to or risk losing what they have. it creates a lack of passion for what they loved because they are no longer inspired if they dont have the freedom to express themselves without conforming to the image created. like having multiple personalities, but only musically, there is no end to what they can create and the image can be changed. wow, this turned into an essay. I do recommend the whole album, but in truth, to understand the whole picture and see for yourselves the difference you should check out his mixtape "Hope world" then "Jack in the Box". the contrast is drastic. Just like the difference in the two mixtapes for both RM and Suga (Agust D). All in all, I think you will love it, either way. your doing great and cant wait for the next!

I know More and Arson are getting a lot of attention but I like the other tracks better - in fact = (Equal Sign) is my favorite. If you do do an album reaction don't be fooled by its short run time - there is a lot there and it will spark conversations. Loved this reaction!

All their album playlists are very intentional and Jhope’s is no exception. It may be more approachable as a full album review because it is shorter but the quality is most definitely not short-changed. Every BTS album tells a story of that era along with the MVs and later on their award show performances. We don't call it a rabbit hole for nothing. With Hobi's album my fave songs are Future and Equal sign. The whole album is awesome tbh.

I pretty much wasn't able to enjoy music much between 2003 till 2015 cuz I was busy raising babies lol. I grew up listening to 80's and 90's pop, rock and hip hop. this album has so much of a 90's vibe and I love it! The guys have so much appreciation for 90's hip hop and r&b and you can hear it in so many songs. Eventually you will hear them on your own. Can't wait to see more of you reactions. 💜

2022-07-17 03:09:24 +0000 UTCI’ve seen a lot of ppl mention how Hobi said that he intended for us to listen to the album from start to finish but I also really want to mention that the lyric videos on YouTube aren’t accurate a lot of the times, they also don’t do the song justice imo. I highly suggest reading the lyrics from translators on twitter! I know you guys usually do, just wanted to mention it as some translators do a much deeper dive into the lyrics😊

I think you guys should do an album review at some point.This album is very personal for J-Hope and shows his journey being a member of BTS. J-Hope said in multiple interviews that he's showing a darker side of himself and he wanted to show his musicality in this album. After listening to this album you feel like you learn so much about him. IT'S AMAZING!!!! Thank you for another great video!!

But yes! Please do a full Album review because the order of the songs basically tell a story so it's best to go in order from start to finish!

I also immediately thought of black eyed peas the first time I heard this song. I will also express that ~some~ albums need to be listened to in order or have intros /interludes / outros that won't make sense out of context. Jack in the Box should be listened to beginning to end, it's so perfect and jhope really worked hard. I don't want to stunt your creativity, I love this idea! But yeah some BTS albums and some solo albums are best listened to in order. Or there are some songs that go together like the trivia songs. Or the cyphers obviously are numbered 1-4 so I hope when that time comes you can do them in order too :)

It's also very in line with BTS - they are all very competitive with each other & often use 'rock, psper, scissors' in many scenarios. Hobi created 'Jack in the Box' with a whole storyline in mind from beginning to end; he asked listeners to enjoy it in order. For this reason I think a full album listen would be appropriate for a first listen. The tracks and messages flow so well together, and I still can't get over the transition between Intro and Pandora's Box (the first two tracks on the album). I'm going to link the presentation hobi played for the listening party he held for the album on the eve of it's release. It has lyric/visual graphics videos for each song and it even has some [English subbed] commentary between them from j-hope himself. You could listen to the album through this video. It does include the MORE MV, but since this event happened before the album drop it does not use the official MV during Arson. Doolset is working on their translations for the songs. But you can already check out the website (yes website, not on their youtube channel) from Bangtan Subs to find their tab for lyrics to hobi's album.

And if you would have time after that I hope you could check out the music video for his song "Daydream". because that was the lead single from the mixtape in 2018. So then you could just check that one out and see the contrast in the artistic vibe. that is of course if you choose to react to the 2 musicc video from jack in the box which is for "More" and the lead single "Arson". then you can compare the lead single from mixtape and this album. I absolutely adore Hope World - name of mixtape - and I like jack in the box just as much!! It's just very different in some ways. So it's not to choose if you like these new songs more than "daydream" it's simply to give you an understanding to why many people were in shock when the new music videos dropped. No one guessed that would be the vibe!

So soothing. Absolutely beautiful! Makes me emotional. (The same feeling I got when listening to the full version of "blue side"). One of his many nicknames is "Golden Hyung" because he "does it all": rap, dance and sing (and produce, compose, write, etc.). (JK is called Golden Maknae because he is also a dancer, singer and sub-rapper).

"It costs you nothing to be kind"..always spreading the positive messaging to the world. Love the Black Eyed Peas song too....classic with a beautiful message. An album review with the single MVs would be fun....As you said, it's a short album but very powerful and J-Hope has said it follows a storyline by following the tracks in sequence. But actually for this album in particular Hobi recommended to listen to all the songs in order, to fully grasp the story that he wanted to tell. But i don't see a problem with listening to some random order first. i mean, we all listned to "MORE" and "Arson" before the album dropped. But I hope that once you have done these reactions you will then listen to the album (while reading the lyrics) from start to finish. You can just do that in your own time, that's fine! It's only a bit more than 20 minutes.

The order of the tracks were intentionally placed in that way and you can feel a sort of journey while listening to it. There’s even a separation of the themes of the album with the first tracks focusing on the messages he wants to send out to the world and the latter tracks (after reflection) being more introspective and we get a glimpse into the thoughts and feelings of jhope, which is amazing to see. So excited to see your reactions and see you guys learn more about jhope. 🥰🥰Borahae 💜

I do hope that you guys will react to the full album since there's a storytelling chronologically. It's brilliant. Arson and More are the title tracks and have MVs too. In his previous work, J-Hope is known to have a brightful image (hence his name) and showcase his dancing skills a lot but in this album he experimented more and wanted to show his darker side. Also J-Hope is part of the rapline but he does vocals too, he's very versatile. Thank you 💜

As for this album though, J-Hope tells a very emotional story that is best done in order. The album itself is pretty short, and very lyrically detailed, but I think you guys would love the journey he takes us on if you did the rest in order in an album review. I do love =(Equal Sign) though, so this was a great surprise reaction.

To see an artist i support and love, sing about this and strength their stance. Jhope made me really proud and I know i’m supporting a good person. The rest of the album is a masterpiece and touches on his inner thoughts. I’d love to see your reaction to the rest of the work. Thank you for your hard work, have a great weekend. Only because J-Hope did recommend listening to all 10 tracks chronologically from beginning to end & honestly I would agree with him. So for this particular solo album, I would want to see the full length review. And if thats a lot for one video maybe split it in parts and do 1-5 and then 6-10 (obviously you just did #5, which btw I love Equal Sign so much) [Edit: The whole album is about 22 minutes]
